the AI is clearly broken lack of cool downs, lack of reload times ability rapid fire weapons that are not rapid fire! abillity to know you have a bounty in a totally different system to the one you are in while in supercruise and without running any kind of scans, the ability to teleport to your location after you highwaked out of a system in a ship with a jump range that is double the AI's ships max range, the hunger for cargo that you don't have including when you don't even have cargo racks in your ship.

I like the idea of harder AI, but not ones that are running these kinda cheat mechanics.

Good news!, i hope FDEV will repair these kind of bugs and maintain AI combat level.

Props go to Pecisk, I was just faster with the copy paste :D But yes, I hope too that we won't lose the annoyingly endearing murder bots that have a perchant for my cargo.

Seems this is the bug thread to keep an eye on, as it has been accepted as an issue. Also you'll notice when an update rolls out I guess.

Btw, anyone's interested QA has confirmed devs are investigating instakill issue https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=257503&p=3989167#post3989167

edit: ninjad :)

However the QA response on that thread links to a support site hints and tips page about connectivity issues. [rolleyes]
If you read his response, it is about getting your creds back for re-buying your ship. There's ticket form bellow that page for general issues with QA.

Problem itself is being looked into. When they will have answer or time and date for fix they will let us know.

Sorry I didn't read the whole thread so these comments may have already been said but the AI changes are too drastic. Im sure the Elite players love it but if you're an average level or new player you've got no chance now. This is just going to alienate more players.

I don't remember the last time I saw the rebuy screen and I've been there twice this morning, I really don't want to have to run every time im interdicted there's no fun in that, especially given you're now interdicted every time you travel from A-B regardless of whether you are carrying cargo or a mission or not.

Anyway, I think this is going to kill the game for a lot more people than will appreciate the extra difficulty.

15 MINUTES
Thats how long it took for a FVCKING Hauler to get down to 25% Hull ! I'm in my 'Conda - but it took 15 MINUTES using all calibers of Pips and FA-OFF because I Just couldn't get him in my sights!
Going ROUND AND ROUND AND ROUND AND ROUND in Circles throughout that 15 minutes! I wish I had Fraps on! I probably will the next time - but this Combat is UTTER Nonsense!
As to the constant argument that "So a small ship has to be in your sights" from some commanders - is the Point of a game to have Fun ? At 25% I said FVCK IT and jumped to SC.

The Engineers is a great expansion - this AI has turned the combat into a frustrating hair pulling Mess - FIX IT FD! Read the TOO HARD statistic!
This is NOT FUN!

I've gave up with it tbh, so I feel your pain. All my ships now are turret fitted only, so even if I did enjoy the wee bit of combat I used to get while trading or doing missions, it's now "Don't even bother turning, just fly straight and narrow while playing with pips. If it goes pear shaped, then run, if you win.. Huzzah! The only heart racing part is if your going to have to dish out another x-amount of millions in rebuy, there sure as hell isn't anything fun about flying is circles chasing some perfect NPC that does no wrong, and as for the "The AI doesn't cheat", well someone is telling porkies, we've all seen it happen, your avg. NPC must have 10 chaff launchers fitted! ^^

I was playing ED to relax. I play Dark Souls to have a challenge. I have no problem with ED having good AI. My problem is that it happened so long after release. They didn't slowly upgraded AI so players can adjust. I log in one day and Elite Dangerous for me have become Dark Souls. If game was like this from start. No problem. Now I have to spend more time to get credits. I risk more and get same reward as before.
For me it is like: I have a job. I like it and have good income and normal workload. One day boss tells me that workload will increase and I will have to spend more time at work but my income will be the same. Result: I quit

Its not just the chaffs. Its the unlimited ammo, crazy fire rate, no heat effects, ... The AI NPCs are now just a bunch of cheaters.

Although its nice of you to offer the person in trouble help, but how is that the point? Someone who wants to mine/trade/explore and not be an ACE combat pilot, should be allowed to enjoy the game the way they want to enjoy, this forceful feeding of YOU MUST LEARN TO BE A GREAT COMBAT PILOT is plainly wrong.

I personally bought the game for the space combat aspect alone, I don't enjoy lugging goods from one system to the next, or shooting at rocks and having limpets collect etc, nor do I personally enjoy surface scanning, I would be very annoyed if I was FORCED to trade/explore just to be able to play the game.

To each their own, forcing everyone to be become good at combat is a very fascistic approach which is what most hardcore combat CMDRs are doing on this forum/thread, all for an extremely selfish reason too I might add, so that Frontier does not give in to all the non combatants pleas, so the ACEs can keep belittling the non combatants, if these piloting gods so want to test themselves, they could just run around without shields in 'open' and take on the other ACEs but nope, they could ask Frontier to make HAZ RES and HIGH INTENSITY COMBAT ZONEs to have the current engi modded super buffed AI for anyone who wishes to test how good they are, but no, they want non combatants to suffer, so they will keep worshipping their super buffed AI god, simply cos they enjoy others miseries.

Wait what? Helping is not the point, complaining is? Okay :(

Frankly I think this is shortsighted arguments on your behalf and I will elaborate why I think so. See, this is not an instant gratification simulator. Sometimes you get interdicted, the horror! Sometimes NPC dare to attack you and now they actually mean business after a long-long break. But back then (not the first time when AI been tweaked. Intentional or not) they were relentless but still rather blunt, now they tweaked to be more clever. That's the difference between being obnoxious and actually being entertaining challenge for once. I think Frontier Finally managed to nail it. So kudos, really. Good job.

You don't have to be a great combat pilot. You can escape. You know, jumping to another system and all that. Surprise, still works. As a fellow fighter I avoid trading, exploring and all that. Not my cup of tea. Still I done my share of trading to gear up somehow for that fat bounties. Nobody was force feeding me to do it though. Same with fighting. It's a part of the game but you can opt out by escaping. Or escaping not even an option because you so used to chasing dummies all over the place and now simply refuse to because it's beneath you?

To each their own. Sure. But that doesn't mean getting an advantage over other players because you want to. There's many ways to solve problems game throwing at you and it's up to you how solve them it. Some claim ED is an empty sandbox with nothing to do while others have so much things going on that they having a hard time keeping up. Having trouble killing some NPC's? Jeez, do the same thing you do while trading. Look around! While traders share routes and winging up - why you can't do the same in regard of fighting? What stopping you? Wing up, get some help. It's much easier than doing it alone. And as I was already been saying - we have many wonderful communities here that would gladly offer help with that. I see that you even have largest of them mentioned in your forum signature. So why all the fuss really? Complaining for the sake of complaining?

But again. Even teaming up is just an option. You can still kill NPC on your own just fine. Yeah, it's harder now and you actually have a chance to die while fighting on your own. What a shocker! Who even do that, right? Nobody dies in Elite: Dangerous. It's a trucking sim in space. How dare NPC interdict and kill somebody! Harumph, harumph!

Since I had edited out my response (can't delete, can we) - not much point in you keeping your correction with quote is there, especially since I acted upon your clarification in the support thread right away.

Thumbs up!

Something worth considering (unless it has already been mentioned), is that the reason the NPCs have got harder is that we will need training to handle the Thargons (and whatever THEY are fleeing from)! As things were we would have been a walkover. This way we may have a chance, especially if we can stop our petty squabbles and learn to work together.

If the Thargoids are fleeing anything just shoot me now.
