I just posted this in another thread, then saw this one, so i will post it here too as it refers to post 2.1.02 patch.

I was just interdicted by a Deadly ranked Anaconda, no reason i had no cargo, only limpets, and i got the thermal attack warnings, after reading some posts on here, it may be just normal weapons, or not, you decide. I had 6A shields and a shield booster on my Conda, but shields went down to last ring pretty quick.
But i thought all thermal weapons ect had been removed too in this mornings patch.

Nosscar, put pips into shields buddy, it's basic stuff. 4 pips in SYS when under attack.

AI use same capacitor ranges as player
AI use same recharge as player - ive seen them recharge shields stupidly fast it was nuts. AND I have a BI WEAVE too but they were faster AND stayed up longer (oooerr missus)
AI have same weapons ammo as player
AI have same shield bank ammo as player
AI DONT spam PAs or insta kill us!

The last one was a bug, but apart from unlimited MC ammo (for gameplay reasons or they just high wake when empty), the AI ships use the same equipment as players. If you are something different, throw a bug ticket in.

Just spent and hour in a High RES in Frey system with good security. Wanted Anaconda's, Pythons, FDS, Clippers and FDL's ranging from Master to Deadly.... Like shooting fish in a barrel... One deadly Anaconda did not even try to escape or fire back when I again, stupidly got in front of it... I see no difference now to 2.0... 2.5 million credits better off for no hull damage, shields not taken down and only 2 heat sink's and 1 SCB used... could have stayed out there all day...

Have not been interdicted yet though, so can't comment on that.

I can see some very unhappy and happy people after today's patch... I am just Meh

I hope so - i also tried a silent mode version today too - but the aI knew where i was all the time even tho i boosted away and tried to evade - they kept dead-eye shooting me with PAs or something - not a bug as it took 2 but they were perfect shots on my drives despite me being dark and jinxing.

You do know that is just a name right? However following that line of thought then it should be "Elite NoFun the Final End"
Exactly its no fun with the completely derpy AI. Yay potato farming, maybe I should be doing farmville, its about the same skill level. The 2.1 AI was okay but not particularly impressive and now its been nerfed to flying bricks, Oh joy no challenge again. Again congratulations whine patrol you have again managed to completely kill any challenge in this game. Would you like a button you can press to get a billion credits too?

I could anticipate the result of this experience, i understand very fast what kind of AI was implemented is the update. the AI which is not, is just program for one thing: Stick to the bottom, not other thing than this. If the Ai is unable to go behind it stick to your nose really. And again the most powerful and resistant will win. All the fight of the game is summarized here.

Gulp, all thermal weapons removed, That will be all Lasers, Plasma's etc? Think you might be confused a bit Nosscar.

You now get that warning if you get attacked by an 'off the shelf' Plasma

Not had chance to play yet!!! I thought the AI was staying the same???? Just chances of meeting higher NPCs getting less???

Just a quick tesflight with my a-rated eagle after the patch , havent seen much as of yet... did engage a Competent FDL in a LowRes...no fancy FAoff , no PIP managment , almost no thrusters used... hadnt much of a problem , but this was only a competent, security hit him pretty hard... action starts at around 07:00 min.. was too lazy to cut the video... :D

I still stand at my conclusion that MANOEUVRABILITY is king against ai...

I just went back to the same High RES (in a high security system) in the same Vulture as I did earlier, and found it to be much more manageable while still being a fun challenge. I didn't come across any engineered weapons, the AI DPS was more manageable, and I was able to keep my shields up so suffered no module damage (which would eventually force me to leave for repairs).

I haven't voted yet, but from this first test I'd say it's enough of an improvement to change my vote from 'too hard' to 'ok'.

And now do the same alone against a similar FDL. :D Not sure what you think your video would prove, with all that other ships engaged in the fight...

Its mainly the start of the fight where no ai helped... but thats not to prove anything but how a competent fdl flies after the patch...

NPCs still seem to have enhanced engines, super strong shields and spam infinite chaff and SCBs. Removing the modded weapons helped remove the wrapping, but we still have poo cake, anyone for cake?

So sounds about right, for now? Personally I'm not much interested in combat zones or res fighting. But I'm curious about the new AI when mining with multiple stacked missions and if I *not* going to run on any next encounter...

well....i could manage the fight good , but what about less nimble ships that face such a enemy? dont know ... have to test flying more sluggish ships against those ai....i think if i were flying a python i would have had trouble....
the short the time the fdl could fire at me it took down my (arguably tiny) shields pretty quick....now imagine if he has more time firing on you ,because you only can turn with him, not outturn him or even worse he turns way better....even a competent will strip the shields of ANY ship this way prettty fast... and now imagine this in open space where you cant hide behind a rock....

Honestly the new AI is not an improvement.

1) Boosting the AIs DPS is not making it better or more importantly fun. Having a fight only to last 10sec because the AI has ripped you in half is NOT fun nor is it good gameplay as there is no gameplay in that experience.

2) ALL NPC encounters I have had in my Corvette goes like this:
- I start the attach.
- NPC turns and shoots.
- NPC gets close to me.
- NPC tries to get behind me.
- I counteract this.
- We are now deadlocked in a turn war.
- NPC boost away turns and shoots.
- NPC gets too close and tries to get behind me.
- Rinse and repeat.

There is absolutely no randomness to this "new and improved" AI when fighting in a big ship. I would go so far as to say the new AI is dumb or more to the point feels like fighting a machine.
The fact of the matter that the AI is now "harder" actually makes it less fun because it never does anything unexpected.

Prettly please FD give us a slider or something to adjust the AI. Then to players who never can get enough of a "hard" AI can have it as they want and the rest of us can enjoy the game again.

ED is not fun any longer for me.... Really makes me want my money back or more to the point I will not be supporting this game any longer!

Its a tad saddening that we players actually have to inform them about this fun angle. Not everyone is trying to live thru Tom Cruises Top Gun character

They dont.

For many people it isn't difficult at all. Thats the part that apparantly many humans still havent grasped after living for multiple decades: what may be stressing for one may be relaxation to another. What you call a 'diehard combat pilot' may consider himself to be a casual. Heck, I can imagine that actual die-hard flightsim-fans play ED as their casual no-stress gamey game. What is decidedly not fun to you may very well be great fun to others. Its not a difficult concept to understand, and it has always suprised me why 'do what I want because I like fun' has been used as an actual argument outside of kindergarten.

The spawn rate for powerplay enemies is still grossly too high in some circumstances. In an unclaimed system's nav point, I had fresh powerplay enemies appear before I had killed the last lot. As the last batch was a wing including an Anaconda, there was no surviving that. 7 seconds to die, despite four pips in SYS. This was a Nav point - not supposed to be a particularly risky destination - in a medium security system not hostile to me. Faction enemies should not be falling into the instance at that rate. If it isn't a bug, it's poor design.

They dont.

You don't know that. What you do know is: They're not supposed to. There can be quite a difference between the two, as this last weekend testifies.
