There seems to be a group of people with a lot of Credits (bilions?) that can afford to lose ship after ship and have some fun with the challenge, I can give them that, however, I propose this group is a minority - if not, there is something strange going on because I have played the game quite a while now and only barely could afford a PYTHON, having billions & multiple ships etc., has to be for only a few top cmdr's I would think unless something hinky is going on? Anyway, when the game version changed and after losing the Python twice at - to me - great cost even for just insurance& cargo - had to go back to an ASP in order to put as much shield and armor on as possible just so I could stay alive; now I can't do any trading anymore as a ASP loaded with armor has no room for cargo holds. Basically the fun is out of the game for the majority (the majority does not usually post) leaving it for the minority "Elite" to have their fun. haha? Well, I think I am going to buy Star Citizens and try that instead, I think you may see a lot of people leaving this game pretty fast as it has to be fun. I may come back to after a time to see if it got fixed, but for now tata. DK.
Hey DutchKnight,
I'm like you -- about 20M Cr in assets, and that is all loaded up into a couple of Cobras, with about 6.5M Cr to spare.
For me, it seems to come in little waves -- I noted a serious uptick in super deadly interdictions, but lately it has been smooth sailing. Indeed, though, enough people are voicing their woes that there must be a problem of some kind, be it bugs or a bad design decision.
Right now, the biggest problem seems to be that it only happens to some folks, and then only some of the time, so it's hard to put a finger on exactly what's going on. I have 6 missions on my list right now, 3 mining, 3 salvage, and I haven't been harrassed lately. I did get picked up when I dropped into a mining ring (I never actually go to res sites, just the rings themselves), but I boosted away from it and never heard from the guy again. I've also changed my ship loadouts to be more specialized, rather than all-purpose.
There are still missions to fulfill tonight though, so I'm on the lookout. For now, I've mitigated the risk by planning my moves very carefully, i.e. watching my pip management before I engage in an activity, always having my firing groups ready when I'm not actively mining (in this case, just chaff), etc. I'm also operating in a group of high security systems, and am taking short routes to my targets, be they mission-based or self-imposed.
All of that being said, if you need to step back for a while, go for it. Better to take a break than to drive yourself nuts. And like I said earlier, there are enough reports that it certainly sounds like something hinky is going on, and I'm sure it will get smoothed out to everyone's satisfaction after a short while.
