Star Citizen just told me it gets personally offended when people say bad things about it, and gets depressed sometimes. It feels hollow, like death.

Because it's millions of people's money? Not a corporate investment? I'm not sure anyone's interested in pulling anyone down to any level (though the attempted suicide by mod earlier might count)
It's a hard thing to accuse people in this thread of - there's been a lot of support here for games that are doing astounding stuff, but the difference is it's stuff backed up by a product that works and that hasn't cost people vast amounts or involved a lot of public record strange backtracking and messing around re:TOS etc.

Outta interest how much of that video was in game footage as it is to be seen for players now?

I fired up SC today. I have owned it forever. Went to my hanger and someone stole my ship. I know I didn't leave it running or keys in it. Went to the practice area, arena I think, looks pretty good. Hoping things start pulling together. Been a fan of Wing Commander sense day one, played them all. So what is happing with the game? Had to do a major upgrade today. Fly safe Cmdrs.

Hmm well I don't know where do you stand about that sensitive subject but I am not taking any side there....:)I do believe in "Higher power" but that's nothing to do with the religion(many versions) and their explanation of "life&death" from the other side I can agree to the certain degree with some atheist but then again for them everything is just to much physical and all answers can be explained by science or coincedence which is not the case always.....as I said very sensitive&complex subject that requires looong(around few 1000 years) talk's....

My apologies. The potential for offence and a derail are a tad large there. I concur with your assessment and will refrain from going "there" again. Also, no disrespect intended to anyone as I do care for people with a wide variety of personal beliefs. Mea culpa ;)

No need for apologie at all....at least I am not offended....but that sensitive-subject is for some other place....

Ach it raises a good point - it IS a matter of faith

We have different levels of faith in various companies and developers - that's why it's so easy for their hardcore backers to be blase about things that set the watch-fires burning for us.
Developers have to be very wary of reputation. It's why I can't understand how this has been allowed to get so far in "open development" - the amount of claims that all the good stuff was behind closed doors got too much for me and I've lost that faith that they'll even get Sq42 out in reasonable shape

Well it's good to have a faith,it's important part of our's every day life(in one way or another),the problem is if you rely only on faith without the material proof or if that faith become your obsession.....and some ppl. do exactly that when it comes to the SC...

The moral of this story.
Backer beware and be aware.
Pledging or backing a "vision" or "promises" is never a good idea full stop.

For me personally I like to see something solid, tangible and concrete not wishy washy dreams and "concepts"
A working Alpha with a strong core foundation is what will make me part with my Backer cash.

Basically this.
I'll believe it when I see it working as intended.
Don't jump in straight off the bat.

edit: Faith has nothing to do with a goods and services transaction.

I used to be a full on Derek Smart hater for about 8 months, but I have to say it, he was at the end of the day right about the TOS.

I uninstalled Star Citizen in panic this morning because I don't want to get stuck with this new TOS. The new TOS is a blatant move to shuffle off any kind of accountability and repercussions should they fail -- which is where the game is heading right now with so little progress. It is like they are putting on a full suit of iron armor all of a sudden.

Fortunately I already used the Black Market to sell some of my bigger LTI ships, but in case things do go south, I want to be sure I can get a refund for the rest. I know it helps that I am European but still...k I won't be touching the RSI site with my account or install the game ever again, unless it is released.

I frankly couldn't believe what I read in this new TOS. It is a full on betrayal towards all backers in my opinion.

CIG is definitely feeling the pressure right now in order to post something like that -- only time will tell if they can keep things together.

Let me remind you that SC got to where it is today by cashing nostalgia from early backers.
After all, we are not robots but human beings and sometimes we bring irrational decisions, especially when memories start interfering.

And at the time was it not just another kick starter, with just as much chance of fulfilling its initial modest goals, that any other?
