Horizons That's me done

let me say yet again I'm no learner nor a professional when it comes to defending myself so don't presume that I can't fly an Anaconda, had no issue's until recently when ED decided to change the AI
Before 2.1 the AI was bugged, meaning they didn't shoot at you. Since they fixed the AI combat got harder, which means that you need to come up with new strategies IF you struggle with the game.

All I wanted to do was explore and trade, if I would have wanted a shoot 'em up I would have bought one, and more likely cheaper than ED we are not all into shoot 'em up's

fly without rebuy, ...
but the game is wrong, eagle shouldn't even scratch the shields of an anaconda.
It's the same thing to say that an assault boat can attack and sink a battleship, never happened and won't happen.

Not only is this a great idea, but I might be willing to pay to watch newbies (anonymised!) try - laughter is good for your health, it'd be a public service really. FDev! Make it so!

It appears I have tried to rep you four times in a row...

Z..

Are you talking about the bugs that AI didn't shoot back and was unable to do anything but being a giant kebap? Yes, sounds perfectly balanced.

Nearly six months ago NPC's were destroying my Sidewinder. WTH do you mean don't shoot back? That is . Me Solo? You MP? maybe that was bugged.

Why do you think this isn't related to suficient flying skills? Most players are happy with the new AI. Maybe you are doing something wrong? I wouldn't play in an Anaconda if I don't have the money and the skills to fight in it, just jump in a smaller ship and learn how to defeat or run from the AI first.

I repeat, read above. I found in Solo, My Cobra doesn't turn very well. Maybe some tricks to be learnt. Lost a Cobra to an unprovoked attack by NPC. Then FD upgraded their hit power. Lost 3 Cobras. Decided to trade after they downgraded 2.1 NPC.
Yeah, it is supposed to be an enjoyable game. Not frustrating. Don't judge everybody as the same. We are all different in many ways.

OP, the message to you from FD and most of the posters here is that you are not wanted as a customer. Your choice is either spend more time googling and learning how to play exactly the way the devs want you to play, or quit the game.

There is no middle ground. There is no varied difficulty level. There is no room for beginners or casuals or people who will just never get the required skill level because they just can't. The decision has been made by the devs and the community that people like that simply should not be permitted to play a space sim.

Sorry to bring you the bad news. I completely sympathize with you. You just want to play a little. You spent a lot of time grinding jobs you probably didn't enjoy to try a new ship and once you got it you thought you could enjoy it for a while. You were. Then the game changed and you lost it all simply because you are not "leet" enough.

Don't take it personally. It's just bad game design and typical elitist internet bull     from the community.

Find another game that doesn't have such a high death penalty and that is more fun and tolerates or even, heaven forbid, encourages casual players. Not everyone is cut out to be an elite pretend space fighter pilot :)

All the best.

Could not have put it better myself

Why are you flying an Anaconda without insurance if you don't know how to fly an Anaconda?

Anyway, submit a support ticket and ask them if they can do something to get your ship back.

Specifically, file a support ticket regarding "lost items". If you file a bug report, they might not be able to refund your loss (says something to that effect when you highlight that option).

They have the data to see if your claim is warranted or not. I had killed several Anacondas in my corvette in 2.1, but lost TWO to two separate anacondas last Thursday. I have no idea what kind of armor/weapons they were sporting. I filed a claim and got the insurance refunded.

Odd. I got the exact opposite response from their support. Also, I believe the devs have even said they are still working on the issue.

These forums, on the other hand... they were certainly better in 2.0. I remember finding them quite friendly and hilarious - especially some of threads during unexpected server downtime.

Good advice, just want to add that they sometimes give you a refund even if the claim isn't warranted. It's basically like a kid dropping his ice cream, support doesn't want to see it cry.

If some player finds it to tough to continue (permanently) maybe they should get a refund on their game purchase and be removed from, in this case, the Elite Dangerous game.
Disc purchases of a game are really just tough luck, move on.

I bought an online disc game from EB games a couple years ago and the licence had already been used, so they gave me a store credit.

When I was at school I was a terrible football player. When I say terrible, let me give you some perspective - I didn't score a single goal in seven years.

Even though you suggest OP finds a different game to play which he will find more enjoyable and more to his tastes, you do so in a way that includes a number of facetious and passive aggressive digs at players who have the audacity to expect a player to have (or at least to have an interest in acquiring) a basic level of ability at a game.

Even leaving aside the fact that the 'casual players' distinction is frankly a meaningless one because it takes a few hours at the most for someone with an actual interest to learn the essential tools of survival and the golden rules of the game, for example never flying without insurance, sound pip management strategies and the basics of evasion and escape, I suspect that your solution to me being terrible at football would be for all the kids who were good at it to accomodate me, diminishing their own enjoyment in the process by forcing themselves to participate at a level that presented no challenge to them because it was below their ability level.

I did in fact follow your advice; my solution was to be captain of my house swimming team. I never felt the need to have a pop at the footballers though, despite the fact that none of them could swim worth anything, because ultimately we're all good at different things.

There's nothing worse than someone who expects people to apologise for being good at something.
