Plea for Miners to move to Jaques Station start a new society

Typically, factions can only expand into populated systems, and if it can't find one within the designated distance (25ly or something like that) the expansion fails and enters an "investment" state that will increase the search range for the next expansion attempt. It's always possible that Frontier will special-case this one, but given how early in the story it is, they probably won't do it until later.

There is a general consenus that this expansion / investment cycle wont create any new settlements, but if we have enough meta alloys delivered and miners actively selling locally to jacques that some station services might online, to date new commanders coming out is slowing and daily traffic is down, but there is a core of us out here now beavering away so a good core to move forward has been formed

Am on my way there back from Beagle Point am about 16kly away, I will have over 5000 scans. ;)

Just hope UCT comes online on Thursday.

I hope so too as I'm quite close to Jaque's myself. Unfortunately I think there will be an MA CG to Jaque's first with UCT coming online only after a certain level of the CG is complete :( .

The BGS can’t create new settlements in the galaxy, so Jacques expanding on it’s own is currently impossible in the game. BUT, FDev could always step in and manually place new settlements as a reaction to Jacques trying to expand, and I have a suspicion that they may be considering this down the road.

I'm hoping for planetary settlements before outposts - I'm in a clipper, those wings won't fit on an outpost!

For the time being this is the way it will have to be. I do hope they implement bgs inspired mechanisms to create new colonies in 2.2

That said for now the main thing that is needed in jacques and surrounding systems to supply his mineral metal and ice product needs, and of course he will pay miners who can make an income and the like

I'm in two minds on that. On the one hand it could be really cool especially round Jaques. On the other hand, if it's not so imperceptibly slow that the devs might as well hand craft them as required then it could get out of hand really easily.

Some kind of mechanism to force it to get really slow unless the expansion is roughly spherical (or cylindrical once it spans the full depth of the disc) to prevent a player gamed spike of expansion growing ridiculously quickly towards Sag A, with some extra factor coming into play for new seeds like Jaques, might work.

oh i think in the bubble that the investment state could come into play thereby limiting expansion to maybe a handful of outer factions such as liberate ceos, sirius corp and the like, and i agree any new colony venture would automatically issue a local community goal of sorts which would require a lot of community support to even make it successful. Time wise a week would be acceptible, and given investment can only fire once every 2 weeks at most and with enough support jacques might only build 25-30 stations in 12 months and thats ruling out expanding settlements in the same system first. So a good middle ground, and i would also suggest that any new colony needs a lot of supplies and passanger missions to get up and running, david braben in the inital kickstarter referred to a gold rush type push

Has anyone read when repair/cartography might be online at Jacques? I'm still ~11Kylies out, but going slow looking for vanadium to reload my AFM (got my Asp burned flying too close to a sun).

What's the status on Jaques Station and Meta Alloys. Does he need anything else? I need something to do after the Dangerous Games and doing Meta Alloy hauls would be an option then.
Is Restock online by now?

As of last night only the market was open and an empty mission board. No restock or cartographics, etc. I'm pretty sure that the galnet post indicated that Jaques still needs more MA's delivered. There were a number of other items in demand last night as well, but I don't remember what off hand.

Greetings Commanders,
As an official representative of The Wolf Society, a small french minor faction, I am pleased to announce my participation in this humanitarian mission.
I come with my cargo loaded of 24 tons of meta alloys and 72 food cartridges.
I have just done a first step in a little less than 1,000 ly, and I have about 20k ly to go to reach Jaques Station.
I know that the 700 peoples aboard the station are desperately short of food so I'll do it as fast as I could.

Heya thanks for your help!

Heya thanks for your help!

Got some news of an expedtion out to Jaques coming this week - hopefully it'll drum up more support for this venture and bring a new influx of players out there to help with current efforts.

Once the dangerous games are over, details will be posted. Already got other groups interested who have decided to merge ideas and come together for the common cause! :)

Planning on heading to Jaques this weekend with over 200T of MAs. Just for fun.

Blimey, you're not half hauling hey?
Hopefuly, such a haul should bring back 'restock' online.

On my end, I should get there by tomorrow, finally.
Long trip on a T9 :D

It took about 4000 tonnes to repair the commodities market, in the meantime at least in the last few days traffic has slowed a bit, but there is now a fresh surge of commanders arriving and a multiplier that are coming out this weekend ( convoys of player groups and the like) so it might take 30-40 x 200 meta alloy hauls to actually get things moving.

Theres a lot of commanders talking about what needs to be done, but not as many signing up, thats not meant as a negative viewpoint just an encouragement that more need to jump on the train ahead of colony expansion CGs which are no doubt plan, i think we need to repair his services before a CG to build a new colony in august, so time is of the essence

Hi,

I'm willing to make a second trip out there at some point if we desperately need anything.

However, I'm flying a Type-9.
It's an 8 day trip to and back if I fly none stop 12 hours every day.
I have 256 Cargo.

I can flip over to being a miner / limpet collection hauler with this upgrade as well.

I need help with understanding Engineers, too. If anyone knows how to successfully grind out the materials for an attempt at Grade 5 FSD upgrade from Felicity could you message or post a suggestion? The best jump range I can make is 16.3. Apparently I can get up to about 24.4 with a lucky upgrade. Any other suggestions for lowering power draw and/or increasing jump range?

Lastly, in ever-angst for ships with better canopies I made a suggestion for a long-range Vulture Explorer. If anyone has anything to say about it here's the post:

Hopefully I make it back in time from DW to head out to this Jaques thing... :)

And visit engineers...
