Fellow CMDRs, I don´t know if this is a coincidence but I am being spammed with tip offs right now.
I am doing the Wu Guinagi / HIP 10716 mission ping pong and I stack up to 20 missions but just yesterday I got 5 or 6 tip offs in one 2 hour session.

Serious question: do you stil collect these tip offs? I would write them down then ... but I´d leave them to other to investigate.
My overall feeling is that some serious things are going to happen and I find FD is bringing in some good tension to this [up]

EDIT: Oh, you obviously still collect these. Ok, got to get the coordinates and post´em here. Least I can do for you awesome guys.

EDIT II: To the guy below this post: as a German I must say: The german translation of ED is rear_end_hurting but that´s a different topic.

I had one tip off, the lead message was different from what someone else posted for the same location, but the decrypted message from the actual site was the same.

Thanks for providing the initial Tip, but we need the result message when you scan the data core with your SRV.
This is where the secrets are.
Only the owner of the Tip-Off can read that message, and you will receive it as a new 'Tipoff' in your inbox.

@Eloy, addendum, I think you're right. I had the same spamming when I raced to do missions.

I kinde hoped my tip offs were all duplicates as before. I just don´t have the time to investigate them all, means, I don´t priotize them.
In the end it´s all the same, right? No specific information, just "They are coming.".

Uhm, did anyone make a map of all the tip off places? Maybe something to learn there ... triangulation ... maybe more important than the messages themselves (?)

I was under the impression that we're looking for the alien crash site Kerrash hinted at?

The NLTT site was provided by Kamius, so I didn't have the means to decode the core. You can at least list the NLTT site on the sheet as partial information, if you wish :)

The crash may be the just PART of clue we need to get to the ships.
The crashes themselves doesn't need to have alien wrecks.

What if the message in the data core hints something like "we spotted the alien ship go down 10km west of our position"?
When we go into an investigation we're cannot ignore half of the evidence present on the site.
We need them all :)

Seems to me that all these tip offs are a result of people running into the unknown probe or artifact. If it does generate a emp pulse that disables systems then it would be safe to assume that is why these ships went down and not from a direct attack. I believe whomever sent these "probes" out is in the early stages of an invasion. Think about it. Sending probes to scan our ships and transmit data, and the artifacts well I'm still not sure what they are. Portals? to open rifts into space to let the "aliens" into our realm? Who knows. I'm following this intently. Still haven't encountered one, but waiting.....

Yes and no, we don't know yet.

Several possibilities exists:
"The Things" can be aliens but not the same as the one's as "The Unknown Probe creators"
They can be one and the same.

Hence we need to collect more evidence and keep turning every rock we find.

Awesome. Please with screenshots of the original message, and the data core message with coords included in the shot, that way it makes a very good reference image for later.
That way we wont need text to explain where it is, just look at the picture and you'll see systemname + message + coords all in the same image.

For what it is worth I have the Avan Tip Off and it reads the same. Got it 1 or 2 days ago.

But I didn't check it out. Is it worth it in any way or do you get just that msg if you go there and thats it?

* Just got one more Tip Off: Acan B4

It's valuable knowledge, what we try to learn:
- Any new direct hints in the DATA CORE message?
- Does (data core) messages change? If so, why? What does it mean?
- whether there is a re-cycling process of these messages? Perhaps over time we will see the same (data core) messages distributed to new sites? Over time will we have received all the types available?
- Anyone stumble upon Alien-wreckage anywhere? We won't know unless the OWNER of the KEY goes there, the trigger may be related to a owner of a tip-off message.

Do we still have no pattern figured out for triggering tip off missions? I got one about a month ago and havent seen one since. And I've done a lot of missions.

Non wiser except there was an outcry from a person trying to rank up doing data delivery mission again, which then received tip-offs when he ran these.
Same thing which happened for me.
