Talk about a Alpha version of a game and they promote it as it was released? Desperate move or just using backer money in the wrong way, or game is actually going to be released this year?

I really hope they aren't considering rushing it for the retail cash grab. They might make NMS PC release look good.

Well I played some NMS today and it's a really fun explorer/survival game.
Art direction is lovely and the procedural tech is absolutely fantastic.
Just fix the PC frame issues and streamline the inventory a bit :)

Intel is their main sponsor in Gamescom, most likely they are the ones paying for that booth.

Supposedly this is how it will look like when finished:

I know. In the second letter from them the guy I dealt with had the utter temerity to suggest to me that they are "very nearly over the line to completion". I was polite in my reply but made it clear that I was following the project closely and it was in point of fact a long way from any line at all with the word completion in it.

Maybe they meant it in a cosmic sense

Even then I'd have my doubts though

They did a partnership for some time where buying a AMD card would include Star Citizen/Squadron42 bundle with a special Racing Ship AMD Omega.
It seems it was not an exclusive or perpetual colaboration. Seems that Intel is paying the bills now. They have done multiple partnerships: Time Warner, Razer etc

Weren't CIG partnered with AMD?
They'll partner with anyone with the greenbacks baby.

Yup. According to some sources that partnership fell apart recently though. This was of course denied by the church. Interesting to see that it was true after all ;)
Oh yeah. I forgot all about that little revelation.

edit: so basically "you know who" is legit too. That studio is leaking like a sieve!

On the face of it, you wouldn't think so. But it corroborates what another source said last month.

The source has also said other things. Worse things.

Off course it did, if it didn't it wouldn't be sources or it wouldn't even be mentioned. Why? Because it really doesn't matter to the game of Star Citizen.

Unless you would be talking about how Intel or AMD techs could improve games in the long run, besides Intel partnership is nothing new, Star Citizen is not about exclusivity but about getting the best available in the market.

Some of the other things the source says certainly do.... And some of them are just plain hilarious/riduculous.

I'd tell you, but you'd go into denial so hard you might hurt yourself. I'm not that cruel.

That would be assuming that anyone would take something a stranger or is "sources" say seriously.

Jim Sterling did a great video about hype, it mainly focuses on No Man's Sky but there's lots of aspects applicable elsewhere. I couldn't help but think of the SCDF while watching it.
