Wouldn't it be easier for you guys to request a refund rather than discussing their progress?
I'm only in it for a measly £25 so there's no point on requesting a refund.

Refund? Oh I don't need no refund, mainly because I haven't spent one penny on this mess of a concept.

However, I AM getting paid very richly by CIG with their near-daily ability to shoot themselves in both feet, their thigh and their face almost at the same time with Star Citizen's lack of stability, lack of gameplay beyond the most basic of combat and "mission" structures, and the beyond-obvious lack of any proper planning for any of the features they themselves claim will be in SC.

Carry on doing what you're doing CIG.

I can't request a refund, I haven't backed the "product". I like this discussion as it gives me an interesting contrast from some of the more combative threads in Dang Dis :)

Press day tomorrow at Gamescom? Erff, I had said at the start of the month I wouldn't post until Gamescom... busted!

I miss Major Tom's videos. Is he OK ?

Well for starters, Major Tom has an actual life away from his computer (I believe he is a performing musician or some such). Secondly, and this is most important, he is bored literally to tears just playing Star Citizen.

It's all well and good just going about your attempt to play Star Citizen and it just suddenly bug out in new and hilarious ways that can then be made into very entertaining videos poking fun at and pointing out all the glaring flaws with the game. But when the game itself is so devoid of anything to do that can be called "fun", after awhile, it just gets grating trying to find new material to edit together for new videos.

He suffers so we don't have to.

I kind of got the impression that Major Tom, sort of like the CIG community team - just ran out of things to talk about. The pace of change with the PTU seems to be so glacial that after a very short time there's only so many ways you can re-package the same thing.

Gamescom should liven things a bit - but even that remains to be seen.

In terms of real improvements it seems to be a waiting game for the magical 2.7. Then when that approaches there will probably be something else announced further down the line that will build on/fix anything in 2.7 and thus keep people hanging on and on....

@ Discourse

I just got my refund a few days ago but the chap who dealt with my case said "we are very nearly over the line to completion" to attempt to keep me in the SC stew pot.

So are you worried? If what they say is true and taking all into account DO YOU think it's a development project nearly over the line to completion?

Or was it a crass attempt to keep me in the project blatantly lying to a long time mid ranged backer? Is this the sort of company that people want to keep throwing money at?

E-mail the dude back and ask for a release date estimate. You can judge his honesty by the evasiveness (or lack of it) in the reply (and his sincerity if he simply ignores you).

There's only so many times you can run down dull, gun metal grey corridors, clip through doors and walls, fly around in balsa wood modelled space ships, clip through said balsa wood modelled space ships, get flung out and killed trying to exit your balsa wood modelled spaceship, or endure terrible frame rate drops when more that 10 people are playing in the PTU at the same time, before you say to yourself "Stuff this!" and go do something far more rewarding....

Like sticking your head into a food blender or something similar.

I think I'd have gotten a solid ignore on that question. They pretty much crumbled as soon as I asked upon what basis was my refund being initially denied. Didn't get any answers just a grumble about them not being under any obligation to refund then asking me for my PayPal address to refund me.

Well i am in 60€ and I don´t want refund,It's not the money, it's the principle....You see some things that CIG is been doing it´s been disgrase for overall gaming community...shamfull TOS changes, multiple delays and constant devs lies after getting so much money from their backers threaten to change for WORST entire gaming development after all....and maybe some of us just can´t accept that without the fight...

Where do these people get these potatos from?

30FPS, hiccups every few seconds, popins galore.
The praised "mesh of servers" running on Google cloud services are causing this.

The Crusader map ran at 90 fps when disconnected in single player mode, even on my 2012 rig.

When I tried 2.5 on the PTU I was getting 10FPS. Not a power house of a system, but decent enough with a 970. Guy claiming he was running dual 1080's...was also getting 10FPS.

That is quite disturbing. Does it look like it's simply poor network call threading, poor response times, or something else that is causing it to choke?

I'm afraid the only way CIG will pay attention if majority of the backers request a refund. Once the money starts to deplete, they will revert their attention.
