Star Citizen is still an Alpha. if you don't know what does it mean, look it up on the wikipedia.

I know what an Alpha is. Like many here I have alpha tested many games. This is simply an alpha in name because they know it can't live up to any other label. It doesn't' even live up to alpha, it's a shoddy mess of a buggy awful tech demo. I'm absolutely tired of this excuse. It's garbage, just like everything else CR spouts.

As a SC backer as well, where SC goes for over promising and not even under delivering but completely failing to while ED goes for under promising and delivering quite a bit more so. However, this isn't SC vs ED - this is solely SC. Why SC can't stand on it's own without being compared to something else speaks volumes about it's faults and failures - and keep in mind when compared to anything other than games that have failed SC is a complete borked piece of garbage.

You want a link to CR's incompetency? Seriously? It's in this very thread. I just linked a video showing it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWq8ynUq7wM There's also the fact he had to be removed from Freelancer because he sucked at his job.

You've got some serious blinders on.

As a SC backer, i don't want CR to rush the game release. I want his team to take his time, whatever so he releases the best damn space sim he promised. I don't want a half-baked buggy game like NMS, or 1/3 of a game which i will later have to pay again for the remaining 2/3. Don't get me wrong, i like ED. But the scope of SC is totally different. Where ED goes for quantity, SC goes for quality. The former can be automatically done with a procedural generation system, but the latter needs work. Way much work.

Could you link me to the source about CR's incompetency? I haven't read anything about that (except on this thread and in Derek Smart's twitter)

I understand that being this an Elite Dangerous forum, it is expected to find the usual percentage of fanboys and haters of "the other space games". But man, this thread is really full of toxicity.

Your going to be one very unhappy bunny when it goes to pot, but you`ll learn a valuable if expensive lesson, best of luck.

Funny also that you posted that - I posted this a few pages back.

Squadron 42 first episode or whatever still end of year right? Or is 3.0 end of year now and Sq42 is next year? Or are they both next year? Doesn't matter, keeping to dates is their kryptonite. I know the response, "do you want it now and rushed, or delayed and done right?" to which I will respond - they have done nothing but delay and everything released so far has not been done right so it doesn't matter.

Funny how that was easy to call that it would be another excuse about "rushing." I'd say I'm omniscient, but anyone that has taken a railroad spike through their frontal lobe can see the track record CR and SC is going with.

Ouch. I thought they were going to go for a smooth progression of 'in a few months' delays, but 'the middle or end of 2017' sounds like they pretty much prepare the fanbase for a whole year again.
The cycle repeats every year, see my older posts precisely predicting this:

We will have exactly the same discussion in 2017, when the delay to 2018 is inevitable. This thing is going to outperform Duke Nukem Forever in every way possible.

Lol, you link me to a drama started by Derek Smart himself? I don't know if i should start to rofl or if i should facepalm instead.
Not sure if you know about him, but Derek Smart is a mediocre developer which is famous for his hate towards Chris Roberts and his false accusations about him.
It's like someone just woke up from late 2014, early 2015 and didn't get the memo. At least glance the thread before participating in it. Derek Smart himself posted in this very thread. Your narrative is outdated, various things turned out ot be true and confirmed by CIG itself.

Actually, they used to be friends, but that doesn't strengthen the "its all DS's fault and he's full of hate" thing does it now?

Hardly surprising that you don't know his history since you don't know CR's history with Freelancer either (If it wasn't for the "evil publisher" DA would have gone bankrupt and Freelancer would likely never have been released). Always funny to see people who have a very strong emotional need to defend CR/CIG completely clueless about what they are actually defending. :)

Hehe don't even try, it's useless, this is just some venting the frustration because they cant cope with the wait, this mad hate comes from passion and love for the game, they can see it's potential but some just fell into the d(smart)k rabbit whole, some deeper than others. [big grin]
Salvation will come, in due time, trough the hands of Chris Roberts ! Hail Roberts.

Also, the one time CR had his own company to make his own great game and vision - Freelancer - he failed horribly and a big evil company/publisher/whatever had to come in and push something out since it as taking way too much time with way too many failed promises. He went past 3 years by 18 months with that one. Where are we with SC? Which requires even more development, skill, effort, and actual competency?

Yeah, he plans on SC being 10 year development just like many other games with active development cycles that release something mostly bug free, feature complete for what they want to release at the time, and continue developing it for years. There are many games like that. SC is not one, and will not be one since it is headed up by someone incredibly lost in the sauce.

Why don't you get over that there are a majority out there that realize how terrible SC is? Kind of like the idiots that hyped up NMS in their minds and are now whining about things they invented in their heads. I have it, I actually like it, it's pretty fun and I am still playing but I'm not going to various forums - or even threads on this very forum - to try to convince individuals otherwise because - unlike you - I don't need to do this evangelical defense or cry about people being "haters" or insinuate that their "hate" is going to give them cancer somehow. Are you an immature teenager? Sure seems like it with that reasoning.

It's also funny that I need to link you to things that you can google. Like the fact that I have to pull up and link a wikipedia page that somehow makes it less right in your eyes? I already know, you're going to twist it, but its already been covered in this very thread that Chris Roberts company was bought out by Microsoft, they demoted him to consultant - try as you, and others, might he went from CEO to someone they only ask him questions as to what the heck he was thinking and was not in charge in any capacity - so he is clearly incompetent.

He sold Digital Anvil to Microsoft. So obviously, he stopped being the CEO. By the way, it was Microsoft the one who cut features to push the release of Freelancer. Despite the game being only half of what CR wanted, it is still considered one of the best space sims of its decade.

It's funny that you call me childish, when all the hate and disrespectful posts on this thread are the real childish behaviour here.
Game development takes time, especially when you have to rewrite the game engine to support everything SC is going to offer. if you don't understand that, then shame on you. Grow up and stop behaving like raging kids who want their toy and want it now. Learn to wait, like normal, adult people. I'm 33, by the way.

Anyway, as you say, talking with people like you is a futile effort. Good luck with your rage!

I've seen some crazy stuff on the World Wide Web in my time. And that ranks right up there with the best of them.

He HAD to sell it because he went over budget, he ran out of money, he MISMANAGED IT. Typical, obfuscation and deflection. Just like the rest of the faithful.

Learn to wait? On what? Seriously - how many dates have been missed so far? All of them. That's not normal.

Good luck to you, how much are you in for?

I am, as ever, awed by the library of material you seem to have at your fingertips - but concept art is concept art. Much like the spacious elegant internal scenes from the icy moon shown earlier we've yet to see anything along those lines in game in any way

I do however like the idea of the fleets of be-stubbled Real Men jogging around with their capes billowing out around them, their bionic +2 right leg jangling slightly as a thousand tiny servos struggle to keep up. Generally I have a major cringe for character creators - it's gonna look like the cast of firefly vs. spacedads i betcha

I looked out the window recently, real life is much worse. Someone needs to remove character creation as a feature from real life. Too many pink haired Pokemon trainers and hipster yokels.

I have to say, the diversity of character creation only annoys me when it lacks any character. When it aims to hit all of the archetypes in a very shallow way I just think "why include it at all?" (thinking World of Warcraft, with it's 3 shades of black, 3 shades of white + angry face, sad face, mean face, happy face, pretty face, old hag face).

Actually, I was predicting issues on CIG's forum that have since happened at least a year before DS went public with his views, so technically I just softened the cultists up a bit for him. No one cares if they announce delays, what people do care about is successive delays on top of delays on top of outright lies.

No salvation awaits, only delays and excuses. CIG deserve to be critized and pressured regarding any and all information from them due to their past failings. Blind faith gets you pushed into holes, open eyes let you step over them.

Very probably! And how many further Citizencons are you going to have to wait for until you see some semblance of the game you backed? ;)

It's kind of funny how it is named Citizencon... considering how much of a con SC has been. Buy jpegariots! We'll have x released around this time, no wait we have to delay it a few months, no wait next year, no wait... REFACTOR!

You should understand that knowing what happened along this project, there are only two possible options that you have.
One is that CR is incompetent. In case that been false, as you apparently is trying to defend, that would mean that he is a liar. Personally, I think that is part liar and part incompetent. How he behaved and wrote his missive to the press on this letter is just one of the examples of that.
Habitual lying to cover incompetence is a personality trait, which is often found in politicians and con artists. It makes one unfit for any serious management position, where you have to report truthfully to superiors, investors or the public, especially if you run into obstacles. These kind of people can cause huge damages, when promoted to such a position.

It's the main problem which Star Citizen has and main cause for its failure: The guys and girls at the top are not qualified for their job.
