The Star Citizen Thread v5

Star Citizen and Squadron 42 will most likely attract people not used to the space genre game, because of the buzz around it and the curiosity to play a Multi-Million dollar AAA game fully funded by gamers.

Really? Can you provide a link to the market research which backs that statement up?

I got better than that.

Curiosity to play a multi-million dollar game? Leaving off the AAA be cause, no way it is anywhere near that.

So far every free flight weekend has generated more negative impressions than any "toxic" forum completely unrelated to SC ever could.

Here's the live version of the clip you were trying to pass as something that was not. Again, just to troll Star Citizen and some readers of this thread.

Eh. It doesn't contain the clip in question. And if that was your source, why didn't you post it other than to troll people?

And please, please do refrain from posting troll material from the Insane SA Derek thread forum.
How about you stop being abusive?

Curiosity translates into reading an article on a gaming website. It does not translate into playing the game, especially not one in such a tiny niche as SC.

Just like WoW gained momentum from the first day with 100k accounts, then 200k and went on to be a juggernaut for years to come.
SC has nothing in common with the factors that made WoW popular.

Yeah it does, it's just filmed from other player point of view. Game didn't crashed like your little montage wanted to make it seem. Abusive trolling is what those deceptive posts were. There's plenty of real bugs and glitches of Star Citizen going around, no need to make things up, that's utterly shady and immoral to make other peoples work look bad just because you don't fancy them.

I know that most of what made WoW popular was their pedigree with Warcraft & Diablo games, but Star Citizen also has those already with the Wing Commander & Freelancer folks. And for everyone saying that they wont sell more copies because those backers already bought, well packaged versions will be a thing, a lot of people likes to collect gaming boxes, merchandise etc

The game hasn't even made a proper marketing campaign yet, it's mostly game show's and word of mouth. I really believe It's really just the beginning of something much bigger.

If CR was true, he'd list all 500.000+ backers at the end credits of his SQ42 movie. I mean game, game.

Woa woa, PC is one of the biggest platforms in terms of players and revenue. It's beaten only by mobile.

However SC is a niche game in a niche area of that platform - i.e. gamer's with decent enough computers to run the game at decent quality settings. It's the whales - the whales they already have.
It's the second biggest individual platform, sure, but that still makes it niche compared to the reach expected of the games it is somehow supposed to be compared to.

I can see from your posts that you have lost all objectivity when it comes to this project, one should always keep a critical mind in relation to such things. Do you have any criticism in relation to the development to date or do you believe everything is as it should be.

I know were that's coming from but no I don't have any major criticism in relation to the development besides some miscommunication at some stages. The main complaints. Delays & Bugs is all normal at this stage of game development. Just 5 minutes of GoogleFU and you can find multiple examples of games with troubled development. It's the norm not the exception.

In other words, it does not contain the clip in question.

So you're going to stop doing that, then? Adding a smiley at the end does not mean that your abuse and trolls suddenly becomes something else.

I know that most of what made WoW popular was their pedigree with Warcraft & Diablo games
That was how it picked up its initial massive following, but it is not what made it become a genre-defining market behemoth. That part was due to its refined, compelling, and almost addicting gameplay loop; its ease of access; its usability; and its community building.

Star Citizen has none of that. It has some very ancient history, but that's as niche group as they come and they haven't exactly been welcoming and friendly. In fact, the entire game is founded on being the exact opposite of the things that made WoW successful: a throwback to something that was never all that popular, catering specifically to the tiny group that liked those games anyway.

And for everyone saying that they wont sell more copies because those backers already bought, well packaged versions will be a thing, a lot of people likes to collect gaming boxes, merchandise etc
That will just be the same people buying a second copy. It does not translate into more customers.

The norm is that those games fail before reaching release. While game production is not exactly smooth sailing, it is not the norm to be 2 years behind schedule and still not have the vast majority of gameplay components nailed down.
