Ohh I am sure that Croberts&CO could release something before the end of the year but why should they do that? With this kind of click-bait news they testing their backers "nervs" and if they recieve the overall acceptance about the possible delay they will prolong as much as they can....If majority of backers start to "riot" and ask the questions they will release something sooner than later....same thing happened with the Arena Commander in the past.....

Its delayed or its not, this whole "its not delayed but we wont give a date" is Just silly. We'll see, if they don't release in four months we can throw it on the pile with the other lies.

If it's delayed and no new date is announced it means game is in very deep problems and is delayed at least for a year. Otherwise marketing would want to hype new date.

I agree. This is like they want the best of both outcomes without commiting to either.

The more they push it out, the more they lose ground and need to rework stuff again to keep up.

Star Wars new game on the move....

I strongly suspect CitizenCon will have a big reveal.

CR centre stage with dry ice and strobes, then a few guys in full mocked up SM armour will appear like an Imperial Guard.

St John's Ambulance will need to be in attendance for those in the audience being overcome by the rapture :/

Thats the only thing CR is good at. Making a big show... he did that the past years and it willb e the same this year.

A product, whatever it is, has an estimated release date. SC had a rough estimated release date, which is now in the past.

If that product isn't out on the estimated release date, it is delayed.

If no new estimate is given, it is delayed indefinitely.

CIG denying 2017 release estimate doesn't mean the game is coming out on time. It means it is delayed indefinitely, which is worse than delayed with an estimate.

This company is just ridiculous. How dumb do they think their customer base is?

As I said they are just testing their ground....oterwise they will come out in the public and confirm the possible delay or confirm the possible release date but as you can see they ain´t doing that...at least not yet......We all now that CIG is earning cash with "time" and as long as they making game and majority of backers are happy 2 keep pouring more € they will take their time,be aware that any possible bad release can wake up more ppl. and harm their future gains.....

Dumb to the tune of $122 million by the looks of it. ;)

They gave them 122M without seeing inch of finished product. I think they have pretty strong grasp about customer base. You should have seen SC subreddit during Gamescon demo.

Yup, agree!

At the same time showing a graph on how much money has been poured into them...and making people pay for a glorified newsletter in form of a subscription. Holding a show only for backers..that have to pay extra money to be allowed into that special marketing stunt.

Shows that are already payed by backers money...while announcing out new concept sales to get even more money...and the only thing they have to do is making a fancy video to get millions.

Yes they know exatcly how dumb those people are...

Ok, now that we established the intelligence level CIG thinks their customers possess, I have another question.

Is CIG allowed to invest with the capital the customers have given them willy nilly?

If they are, then it's in their best interest to delay launch as long as they are able to since with every 'con'vention, they have even more money to invest at an interest.

Are they even under obligation to release their finances?

PC GAMER: Cloud Imperium Games denies Squadron 42 delay report

I was referring to quantity of the actors, not the pedigree. But yeah Squadron 42 probably features the most impressive amount of acting talent ever gathered for a video-game. "It's gona be a cracker"

As was I - no other game has that quantity.

You believe it is normal to have this many high profile actors in a game - it is not. Whether that is good or bad is open for discussion, but it is definitely not normal. The actors have a decent pedigree - but the quality of their acting? Entirely subjective.

I like many of the actors in SQ42, none of them scream to me as glaringly bad - except perhaps Sandi. She may as well be some random woman in the street they picked up and said "you look the part, can you do some acting for us?".

My wife overheard me watching the interview videos, she said it sounded like the start of an adult video because of the way Sandi speaks - she has very peculiar intonation. She seems to lack the ability to recognise simple social cues particularly the humour in speech and in the media that I have seen, her acting has been of the same calibre that you can witness at a Grammar School drama class.

I understand why she's in there though, if it was my wife I wouldn't be able to say no either.

It was "promised" by them to show their finances at the end of May this year. It was even in their ToS..that got changed shorty after...with no obligation to even deliver anything aslong they can "prove" they work on the game refunds will be denied.

You have to actually threaten them with legal action before they give you a refund.

Take what i said with a grain of salt. Its information from SC archenemy if you want clarity about it you have to look into it yourself.

No legal obligations whatsoever.

Some comments from Reddit on the delay.

So there we have it, SQ42 is delayed for the better. Polish is important. Glad they are going for a quality product instead of rushing it through the door to get the 2016 date.

The 3.0 Gamescom presentation should be enough to let you know CIG has a ton of stuff hidden behind closed doors. Tons of programming done that hasn't yet seen the light of day.

If so much stuff has made it into a live demo, imagine how much more stuff is completed but only awaits implementation or polish. They have hundreds of people working on the game, there's surely 10 times as much stuff that's almost completed but isn't ready to be shown yet.

We have no idea what is going on with CIG and SC. What we see is a very small preview of stuff they think is good enough to show. They are the only ones that get to have a "sober view" on the project. We don't get to decide what is a realistic release date.

While it's disappointing to some who were convinced it would be out this year, we must all remember once more this is a long term project and we all need great patience, but it will be worth all the waiting.

This is so ridiculous, I can't even...

How does this logic work?

If what we have been given to play is what they deemed 'good enough to show' it means the rest of it is 'not good enough to show' or in other words 'worse'.

So by the logic of this poster, CIG has much more stuff behind doors which never seen the light of day, and all of that is somehow 'better than what they have shown', but at the same time what they have shown is the only stuff 'good enough to show'.

If I had loyal SC customer base for opponents in debate, I'd have a field day :D
