Will this be with or without the RNG used for engineers? :):):)
Looking how the game design is so badly drive since POWER, am feared that RNG will be implanted into the ship transfer... no luck, your ship have been destroyed during the transfer by some elite pirates full RNGineer updated (insert a new coin with your next ship transfer) !

From what I have read ED has in the future "transportation missions". You get paid for transporting passengers.

Along with that new mission... wouldn't it make sense to add for "instant" or "somewhat delayed" player pay-for-passage between stations?

So, for example, I fly my explorer ship all the way to Jaques. I want to get in on a mission back in the bubble.... so I PAY for near instant transportation to a station where i have a ship or I can buy one. When I want to go back to Jacques I PAY for passage or I fly there again.

That would dovetail nicely with new high-ticket transportation missions to-from jaques that players can run.

It might STILL be a little more "unreal" with insta-travel, but it leaves the character with two facets of REALITY:
1. If you don't want to have to fly yourself get a passenger ticket and PAY for it. You are delivered in a reasonable time.
2. If you do use public transport to get to a new location you have to purchase a new ride when you get there. OR call Enterprise, Hertz, etc.

... and it avoids insta-transport of SHIPS.

Players that WANT to have a high-jump range luxury ship will FEEL like they are transporting ED players.
Players that WANT to get back to the bubble without having to sacrifice 9 days of play-time can FEEL like other ED players are getting paid for missions to transport them.

ALSO, add missions for players to select called "Fly my ship from station A to station B service" with matching payouts to player ship transport fees and huge penalties for failure.

This way you "seem" to mach players that want "near insta-transport" with players looking to make cash by flying other people's ships... even if the two desires are not equally matched in terms of quantity or location.

The people that want insta-ship transfer get what they want and players looking to make cash for flying get an opportunity to fly in someone else's paid-for ship and earn cash.

Perhaps ED needs a new craft.

A ship shipping ship shipping ships.

Why won't you make both options viable with a price tag on the transfer depending on distance?

Longer distance = more expensive to instantly transfer.

Let players pick how long they want to wait and let them pay accordingly.

Agreed (wow).

I'm all for a small delay for ships (2 hours is WAY too long) but not for modules. If these are the only two options it had to be a no.

this is the problem. This forum is very loud with "no instant-transfer people". Whereas the other like 85% of players wouldn't mind or care. You will always get that on games forums, it's something the devs have to take account of (which is why this is an official poll linked to your Frontier account. So they can see what percentage OF THE ENTIRE USERBASE wants delay, not just percentage of regular forum users.)

Or are you just making up numbers because you have no evidence for you point?

The delay should equal the time it would actually take to get the ship from A-B using whatever transport/bulk carrier is used. Bulk carriers which will be introduced in 2.2 I guess.
If it takes four hours then so be it.
Instant transfer? What like a 3D printer?
Instantly moving a Corvette from Sol to Jaques is just ridiculous and makes a mockery of the immersion.

Guys and gals, I realise some of you would like instant transfer but seriously, virtually none of you even considered it a possibility before Frontier announced it at GC a couple of weeks back and now, apparently, it is the must have that you can't or won't play the game without. Where were you all demanding it before GC?, where were you all on an instant mega thread before GC?, how can instant now be a necessity when it was all silent on the instant front a few weeks ago?

Instant ship transfer was going to bring me back into the game and potentially keep me interested in whatever next season of content Frontier was going to bring. That isn't looking like it will be true any longer.

Instant ship transfer made me (triple elite, 7 weeks game time) uninstall the game about 2 weeks ago.

Horses for courses.

hmmm... maybe sandro should have locked this announcement after posting.
unless FD actually wanted another mega-thread where people keep re-hashing the same arguments??
None forcing you to read those re-hashing arguments !

The only issue I have with transfer of ships is they should not be able to be delivered to locations that are out of reach of the ships drives as outfitted.

I.E. a Sidewinder with stock drives should not be able to make 20 LY jumps to a commander's new location. A real route must exist that the ship as outfitted could travel, or the ship cannot be transferred.

Instant transfer is just fine, like instant repairs, outfitting, loading, unloading, purchasing a new ship and painting.

3D printing as a lore reason for instant transfer and 3D printing fighters is much worse, IMHO. fighters should work exactly like SRV's- if they are destroyed the player has to dock and buy a replacement. A freighter should not be able to carry material to build 10x100 ton fighters without consuming the requisite cargo space and reduction in maneuverability from the extra mass. It also blows away lore reasoning for black markets not selling every ship and component- if all one needs is a license to print a ship then I'm sure the black market would be actively supplying every ship and module available in the game. 3D printing ships is just non-sensible in any terms as it violates too much verisimilitude in the way current ships and markets actually function in the game. This is very different from a time saving feature that keeps the game pace faster and more "fun", like instant loading of cargo and that actually works like other time-saving features already in the game.

Ship transfer is a convenience and a delay of 10 minutes is just a waste of my time. I could buy a ship at the new starport but don't want to waste the money. I can sit in the starport and do nothing for 10 minutes and nothing is accomplished but delaying my fun. Let FD just transfer it instantly and accept it as a convenience like instant cargo loading.

Otherwise make us wait for everything - loading, unloading, repairs- ugh, realism is not necessarily desirable or fun.

I think it should be a mix: if the station has the ship and modules you want to transfer, it's more of a replacement ship with a fairly high convenience charge, but it's be instant. If there are modules the station does not sell or it does not have your ship, then there should be a delay and lower charge. Even if the station does have the components to have an instant transfer, there would be an option to wait and save money.

I'll give you numbers when Frontier give them to us. Point was, there are only like 100 players on this forum who regularly post in every thread about instant-transfer killing their game. Out of how many players of ED? 10,000? 2 million?

Well if the game die by the instant option, it ll be only the player base fault, and not the devs fault. It's totally fine for me, i'll prefer be ejected from my favorite game by other players than by devs !

MUH IMMERSION

300 hours here. I think I have an equal say. Reminder, you're not forced to use it if you don't want to. You can still make that trip manually all you want to maintain your immersion. Stop ruining other player's experiences.

I voted instant, simply because if I want to play with some friends in a certain ship I wont have to waste HOURS of my and their, limited playtime waiting for a ship.
