Yes I'll just stop playing the game while I wait to play the game. Makes perfect sense!

Emmmm no. That's how lot of airplanes and ships getting transported.
Not hours. But until the game restarts next match, no arbitrary timer.
Although the saving grace to that is you do spectate, so you are still engaged I suppose.
I want extremely cheap transfers with a delay that does make me feel like my actual ship is being delivered.
That is all.
Difference is you CAN continue to play ED with your CURRENT ship.
Hello Sandro,
Also about the delay: you are talking about bulk vessels that make the transfer, it did make me think about companies like UPS, FEDEX , DHL (I am using them at work).
They offer fast transportation of goods all over the globe. Depending on how fast you need your parts you can choose different services
f.e UPS is offering:
UPS STANDARD (EXPEDITED) the slowest and cheapest (USA to EU in 4-6 days)
UPS EXPRESS SAVER , faster and middle price range (USA to EU normally 2-3 days till the end of the day)
UPS EXPRESS, very fast but expensive (USA to EU 2 days before lunch time)
UPS EXPRESS PLUS, extremely fast but very expensive (USA to EU ... dont know did not use that)
Instead of having a fixed rate and time scale this realistic concept could be used in game by f.e. by the imaginary ..... USTS (UNITED SHIP TRANSPORTATION SERVICE).
Depending on his needs the CMDR. could choose cheap but slow transportation, or faster but more expensive, or very fast but VERY expensive transportation of his ships.
I think 3 services would be enough:
slow: 4 hour to 1 day (in bouble)
MEDIUM: 20 min to 100 min (in bouble)
FAST: 5 min - 20 min (in bouble)
If all else fails, you could go and play a few rounds of CQC! At the moment it's always difficult to find a match, but if delayed ship transfer is implemented and lots of players find themselves waiting for their ships to be delivered, well, CQC might be the perfect way to pass the time!
Because dealers and manufacturers need to transport cars in bulk, at regular intervals, all along the same route to the same destination. Using a freighter only makes sense if a certain number of ships all need to be transported along the same route in the same timeframe, which doesn't seem likely in most situations, considering how low-traffic most of the inhabited galaxy is. I'm okay with a delay, I just don't think it should take longer than it would have taken to just fly the route myself, 1st because it's wildly inconvenient, and 2nd because it's not realistic. It's like the worst of both worlds. Why do companies load cars onto trucks and haul them off to dealerships? I mean .. the cars can drive on the road.![]()

It's a game based on travel. Flying ships around. Not teleporting them instantly from location to location. The issues you mention have been dealt with over and over, but I can summarise: the game doesn't make you wait for respawn/cargo/outfitting because there would be nothing to do while you waited. The game can make you wait for a ship to be delivered because you can just carry on trading (or whatever) in your current ship while you wait. Keeps the universe feeling big without boring you.I am highly entertained by reading people's logic, justifying a mode of transport, in a game based on science fiction..............Supercruise FTL, ok; make a "frame shift drive" jump 10-20Ly, sure; Jacques Space Station jumps 22000Ly, no problem; my Python shows up right after I order it...... wait, what?!

For me instant transfer removes a lot of gameplay possibilities from ED.
Moving ship around may not sound like fun, but... actually flying ship is one of the most fun activities in ED, need to move ships around manually is a good reason to do that...
IMO transfer should be ~2x slower than flying ship manually based on number of jumps/available scooping rate or number of refuels needed. It will still allow one to transfer ship without all the jumping and do something in current ship while it happens, but will make it non-viable as fast travel mechanic (fly to destination in long range explorer, transfer your combat ship there).
You honestly think these are reasonable? Perhaps if you had said a few minutes for cargo to load, yeah, the instant cargo loading was always supposed to be a place holder anyway according to DB. Can you name me one other game that prevents you playing for a certain amount of time after death?
