didn't it say 2016 on the add somewhere?

It did say 2016. But it didn't say that the 2016 referred to a year, it might have been a model number or a secret clue to a new ship.

You can't infer that just because CIG put a number in an advert, it denotes a year - that's just stoopid.

P.S. :D

How could I have not realised? You are absolutely right. It must be reference to the UP2016 Clandestine Underworks long-range, cargo hauling, jump gate capable, snub fighting underpants - codename Dangleberry.

Doesn't really matter what it said.

We just have to wait until CR refactors reality :D

SC Devs keep changing release date and schedules all the time as it fits, I got Star Citizen and played it for a few days now just to experiment with what is there, I'm not impressed at all since they were supposed to release it as a commercial product this year but the game is actually still in an early Alpha full of bugs, crashes, framerate drops, SC also crashes my computer at times despite my computer is very good, disconnections to servers haven't been fixed, so Star Citizen is currently a tech demo rather than a game, they sometimes add pieces to it which is good, that means the developers are at least trying to move on, lately they added another station to the system, they added a few ships, my impression is that they are proceding too slowly and they had to postpone release many times, release is probably many many years ahead, by the time SC is released, ED will already have ships/stations/buildings interiors and walking around/shooter features + planets with atmosphere with life and hunting mechanics of wildlife in place + tons of other features.

Some people here mentioned SC players are critic of ED and sometimes they respond to SC critics in a harsh manner... It is true and I got an explanation for that, the hype for SC is so strong players will fail to see the game's flaws or simply forgive whatever the devs do, including postponing release year by year, as I see it there is some kind of cult mechanic at play, many other players just paid ridiculous money to support the game and will defend their investment from whoever criticize SC.

OMG! The Dangleberry is out [woah] .

Gotta go - where's me credit card? !!!

In other words, they invested so much that failure is not an option.
Some invested more than money and got burnt on different levels ;)

There's another factor in this, Chris Roberts and Derek Smart have fallen out a little - both have big egos and can't let the other win. CR HAS to release the BDSSE or DS's gloating will be epic.

I'm going to invest in popcorn now - it will be in very short supply in a year or so...

Forget the Alpha tag, there seems to be some unresolvable issues re player interaction with the spaceships. I'd hope to see that settled (if it can be) before I started going on some forums with a bunch of dillocks theory crafting about being a space pirate - cook - box mover. Just my "opinion", also I made the cook bit up and hope its not actually true, but it wouldn't surprise me.

We got "In flight drinks mixer" so you should be Ok with cook :D

All this minutiae he's come out with, all he had to do was a mission based space combat game to begin with. Forget the A-list or therebout actors, get someone from Eastenders (I was thinking of Dot Cotton) for 300 pounds a day. He could have knocked that out by now even with his alleged gross incompetence. Actually it's not alleged, it's there for all to see.

You just don't get the dream. You have no idea about this game. Did you know that your toenails grow in SC and if you don't clip them every 6 months you can't wear a spacesuit?

Also the isotopic ratio of the keratin is measured to ensure a high-fidelity map of each commando's journey through the verse - just in case a forensics crew needs to become involved.

Their dream is not having to get off the sofa or reach down to clip them, just do it virtually. I'm not saying that it's physically impossible for them to do so, but again no surprises would be likely.
