Jumped? Really?

If you cannot handle the, sometimes hostile, repartee the Frontier forums are not a place for you.

This is a highly critical community...of all viewpoints. I can't get two posts in on General Discussion without someone pointing out all of my faults (valid or not).

Lively discourse is part of the DNA of this forum.

Jumped? Really?

Well, it is a sharp contast with the CIG forums, where any random praise of SC is automatically followed by +42, and there is never any critical examination of one's argumentation. Over here people have been bashing ED on the main forums since day 1, and the mods are cool with that. It means people are generally more used to being presented with other opinions in a strong manner, which is almost unheard of when discussing SC on their forums.

Anyway, the weird thing is that Orlando complains about 'just giving his opinion', but forgets to mention that his opinion included what other people's opinion should be ("everyone wants spacelegs" for example). That works in hive-mind communities, but not so well over here.

Perhaps with that most recent post of his, Orlando figuratively "Jumped The Shark"?

I read the comment about having space legs above all else and thought it was another graphics glitch with the avatar? :/

Well if you're talking about the random Space Noodle Lovecraftian Horror Spider Leg (and Arm) Syndrome, then you would be probably correct with regards to Star Citizen.

Weather Elite Dangerous could ever hope to reach that same level of Dead Space-esque "fidelity" is still very much in question when they introduce walking into the game.

Ha, yeah. It's exactly that. Can you imagine if they moved every gripe here to an obscure "concern" forum or did that obnoxious katamari thing? Ridiculous. It takes some nerve to suck your fanbase dry for cash AND treat them like children once they make all your work and Maui getaways possible.

Can someone define this Katamari thing to me? Is it a reference to the game where you roll the whole world into a ball, effectively making another world.

I remember posting in the ED thread on RSI about a year ago...just trying to provide some information but the thread was kinda dead at that time so I lost interest.

I think coming from Innsmouth has influenced CR's design decisions.

No, it doesn't

Well to me it does, as with the other thousands of players giving their reviews on steam. It's just personal opinions, but it's hardly just "me".

You don't like Star Citizen flight model, it's ok, other's do despite being unfinished. That's how things go. Just accept that for other players Elite still needs more engaging gameplay (multicrew & space-legs preferably) to feel less of a boring/repetitive sterile humongous universe. To each it's own I guess. I liking the fun I've gotten from Star Citizen that's why I'm here. To talk about it and share news and media stuff.

I don't get why. Is this like a missionary thing, go into foreign territory and convert the heathen?

I don't get that either. You know damn well Elite is getting multicrew this season and space-legs is on the agenda. You make perpetual excuses for SC being unfinished, but knowing both are coming to Elite doesn't let you think of it the same way? Elite is unfinished just like SC, they are just vastly more efficient and better organized. When Frontier say multicrew is 2.3, you can be sure multicrew will arrive in 2.3. At most it'd be a few weeks or two months delayed, but how can you POSSIBLY be annoyed about that considering SC makes promises for stuff and is regularly late by YEARS?

Just accept that for other players Star Citizen still needs more engaging gameplay (persistence, planets, systems, flight model, npcs, missions, trading, mining, exploration) to feel less of a boring/repetitive/glitchy/janky sterile tech demo.

Its combining threads into megathreads. On itself not bad if the intention is to make things more clear, but its often used to 'hide' unwanted opinions in threadnaughts. For example, if someone would post a critical post in the general forum about ED not having spacelegs, a mod could move it here and hope it would just be overlooked. As Toast, one of the CIG mods said, its generally reserved for 'cases of forum hysteria.'...

Is the FM really unfinished? My brain is fading. I thought the controller balance thread / argument on the RSI thread had died of apathy and no CiG rep had mentioned any further balance passes?

Multi crew and space legs are quite far down on my list of things that I think would add value to ED thank you very much.

Atmospheres & gas giants, weather, flora and fauna, some kind of story based quests and missions, a much better resource gathering and crafting system (engineers is okay, but the RNG feels like a bit of a cop out).

I'd take all of that before space legs, which I do think might be fun if done well, and multi crew I couldn't really care less about.

But that's just one player.

Ahh yes, the totally "infallible" Steam review system, which has never been known to be abused by people looking to "review bomb" a game (it has, numerous times) to make it look like it's not that good to those visiting the review page.

Yep, that's a sure-fire way to judge a game, via Steam review....

Oh btw, do you know how CIG will deal with stolen ships in Star Citizen?

Its alpha. The sentence 'I like [feature X] plus its not finished yet' is the default response when asked about ANY feature of SC. Nobody knows if its finished yet, and if not, what will change and when. So everything is great already, and everything will continue to become greater every day!

That's because what you described is pretty much what happened.

Page after page, comment after comment, talking about the flight model/mouse control versus flight stick control issues in Arena Commander and the PU (as well as the totally unbalanced missiles too), and hardly any official response, either in the forum themselves, or anywhere else.... Until eventually the folks making those threads mostly gave up the ghost and stopped posting about it, seeing as over 2 years of raising the issue seemed to get no real response from CIG.
