I think it would be interesting if Star Citizen was available for review on Steam, I'm very much looking forward to the day it is so it can can face the same open and transparent scrutiny and criticism other released games have to face. Frontier did the difficult thing of not hiding behind the endless 'pre-alpha' tag and faced customer scrutiny both good and bad. This is healthy as it stops hype and confirmation bias from getting completely out of control.

Ahh yes, like how CIG "borrowed" the landing sequence and such from FDev, even down to showing a graphical representation of your ship as it approaches a surface like it does in ED...

Of course though, this is totally *not* an issue that needs to be worried about! It's an Alpha! Those things have bugs like this all the time!

Don't you worry about any of that though, CIG are on course and set fair for the most epic game in gaming history!

Mind Posting the Ideas which got Stolen and where FDev has Published those ;)

If we are talking about the Basics of an Persistent Universe with Spaceships etc. I have to Dissappoint you. This stuff was available for quite a long Time from other Games *gg*

And so far SC is not only Looking entirely Different from Elite Dangerous. Its also Following an entirely different System and Doctrine.
Being Honest I cannot find a Single thing in SC which could be counted as Stolen from Elite Dangerous.

Most of all certainly not Ideas.
Because Frontier is making a        g Secret out of their Ideas and is letting pretty much little to no Information Leak about what they are actually planning to Introduce.
Heck for 3.0 We dont even know the Name of the Season much less what that Season is Supposed to be Covering.
Multi Crew as an Idea for Space Sims is as Old as the Genre. And Procedural Generation is a Technique which was in a Hype among Game Devs for a few Years now. Its not something FD Developed :)
The FPS Part is also a Dream in that Community that was around for Years.

So Sorry.
But Seriously.
Mind Listing me what Ideas Star Citizen Stole from Frontier ? :)

You can simply disagree but we don't need any lists and grounds for more contradiction.

(Even if said list is provided it won't convince you of ANYTHING). You are not here to be convinced as I understand it.

See. The Joke is I am Playing Elite Dangerous. Not Star Citizen Alpha 2.5. Despite having Both.
Because I actually think that ED has the Potential to be a Serious Competition to Star Citizen.

But Heck all this Hatred in here and all this Trash Talking of Star Citizen against any Logical Reasoning is annoying me.
And I seriously dislike it to have dislike blind people over qualities and chances of something. So all this Anti SC Talk which is baseless is annoying me even more.
So yes.
If someone Claims that SC Stole Ideas from FD. Than I think I can demand Prove.
After all this is not some small Claim there. :)

Check some Screenshots of X Series Cockpits.
Or even some Screenshots of Aircraft Combat Games :)

Because the Cockpit Designs and Layout. Is mostly referencing Modern Military Aircraft.
The 3D Radar being something that has been used in X2 already :)

But this is Pretty much Standard for Space Sims.
If you Claim SC stole it from ED.
I can just as well Claim ED stole it from X3 :)

Truth is however that all of these Games including all the Fighter Jet Games etc etc. Have used such Hud Elements and Fairly Similar Arrangements for Years.
Because all of them Orient themselves on Modern Aircraft Technology and arrange futuristic elements like the Radar around the Cockpit. :)



For example.
Did you know. Pretty much all Games got their Menu on Escape.
So you think they all Stole it ? :)

Oh by the way. All Ships got Engines.
Guess Stolen as well *gg*

My thoughts: Yes he could've set up 2-factor authentication. No, 2-factor is no silver bullet. And I do believe he has a point: Being able to resell ships and essentially having this kind of grey market creates an evironment that attracts criminals, whales, and people who have no qualms issuing death threats against anyone who is a threat to their "business interests". This is by no means a Star Citizen exclusive problem.

But it speaks volumes when previously silent accounts suddenly pipe up and post super positive stuff and wildly optimistic projections about SC, trying to push the criticism off the last few pages. That would be fine if it was new information, but usually it's just the same proven-false stuff (be it release dates, SC development time, star marine being already in the game or not, the ever-rewritten history of PG in SC, etc.)

There's money in this, and there's a mafia protecting their monetary interests. This is not a game to them, it's profit.

Well yeah. Also, the two mods of a major Star Citizen Grey market Reddit, created an entire sub-Reddit (/r/DerekSmart/) dedicated to harassing, hating on, and threatening me. And they're at it 24-7

You are taking things way too seriously and letting dumb stuff get to you. The hatred you seem to pick up on is founded on fighting claims defending SC. We are critical given their business model, CRs history. Many can't get out because refunds denied so what could you possibly say or do to convince them. You are just here to kick the nest and then get annoyed when you get stung.

You can simply disagree and move on, the list is pointless and you know it.

We can be friends all of us, it's not a this vs that it's a god damn g game.

But when you take mad pre orders based on things you say, I don't think it's unreasonable to think a percentage (however small) is going to be pretty        about it.

Why don't you go back to the RSI or Reddit forums and just let us waste away in our own poop...why he need to come in and      off the hornets?

Bordum? Revenge? Do yo feel threatened?

Nope, it isn't. It is something that David Braben pioneered over 30 years ago, in the original Elite. Go away, learn a little about the history of game development, and then tell us what is or isn't new In SC or ED.

But if you call it Kicking a Nest when Correcting some Wrong Statements that result from Empty Hatred. Then yes I guess I got talent for this sort of thing.
I dislike just leaving things be you see.

Cmon, denying Braben his due as one of the first devs to really harness PG to make space sims in the Elite series is silly. I know Chris Roberts invented space sims, but credit where credit is due to Braben and Bell!
