Add him to ignore? - No chance. I'm out exploring while I post and I need the odd break - there's so many awesome sights out here but I gotta make a cup of tea and relax now and again - these posts are fun.

I'd reply point by point to the last post, but I'm getting close to some neutron stars and I don't want to get tied up in something that doesn't matter :D .

I just read everybody else's replies to keep me happy. I have too little patience on too little sleep and the little one gives me too little sleep.

But if you're worried about your Exploration revenue, act now and buy and Idris.

seeing as ED has been produced on what? 1/10 the money

That is one thing that CIG got very, very right.

I can't help but wonder, admittedly with a tinge of regret, what could have happened if it had been DB with the flashy kickstarter movie.

"They thought I was dead. They said console was the future. Now they say that mobile and tablets are the future. But I say to you: the reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated. I am a PC game. And I am a space sim. My name is Elite and I’m the granddaddy of them all."

Yeah, same here, we went over this few hundred pages ago, math alone shows problems, but having actual developer input is interesting (then again might be unfair, don't believe Derek developed any mmos, is LOD advertised as massively multi-player?), definitely he did number crunching when deciding on protocol for lod though, so limits he set for an fps/spaceship flying game are relevant still

edit: latest scoop from Derek: http://www.dereksmart.org/forums/topic/sc-scoop/#post-4459
Initiate farming mechanics? I think someone's been had, then again would prove no scope creep in SC, delivering what matters first, shirts, caps and space farming

The architecture used in LoD, is explained here: http://lodgame.com/faqs/how-many-players-are-supported/

I can't quite believe I seem to be willing to continue this more than others in here, but here goes... :D

Ehm actually you Did.
After all you already Paid Horizons for example.
Out of which you dont know when you get the Space Legs Feature for example.
I paid for Horizons when FD provided a list of headline features and dates attached to them. They're currently slightly behind those dates, but they've delivered on 2/4 in a reasonable manner.
Space Legs is not, and never was, advertised as part of the Horizons season. No idea where you got that from.

You actually did so in the past as well. Because as that Video from 2012 is Evidencing. DB has Promised quite a ton of Stuff. Including even Animals on Planets where you can Land and Walk. And Giant Cities you can Explore.
So you did in Effect Pay for this by Buying the Game already.
But I dont see these Features yet.
Yet as you said. Alot of People likely gave Money to this Kickstarter based on these Promises right :)
I'm talking about the situation now, for ED expansions vs the current SC situation. ED expansions have specified headline features with approximate delivery dates attached.
As for backing ED at the Kickstarter, there was naturally a risk that they wouldn't deliver, same as any Kickstarter. But the pledge levels for ED were well-defined, and they had a set goal. They didn't continue funding forever; they took the money they had, they went away and they made a game with it. That is a markedly different strategy than CIG have chosen to pursue.

I am not actually sure they.ll never Happen.
No Offense but SC has an Gigantic Feature List. So they cant very well constantly Talk about all of those.
And right now they did Announce to be putting Work forward to Deliver a Game rather than Piling up more Features.
So its Logical that they will now Focus on the Primary List First. Which was to Deliver an Persistent Universe for Players to Play in by Flying Spaceships, doing Missions and Fighting each other in Space as well as in First Person Combat.
Except that CR keeps throwing new features onto that pile, with no indication which ones are going to show up when. Is clothes shopping part of the "primary list"?

Thats not Correct either.
After all this Video of DB is from 2012 for the Kickstarter Project.
Where does in Fact ask you for Money. While promising these Features which of many you didnt hear for years now.
He does however now Ask for additional Money on Fullfilling Seasons and which if you Dont Pay it. Will mean you wont get many of these Extra Features.
Correct; that's the model FD have gone for, which involved producing a base version of the game first. It does mean they'll have to fund expansions later, but it also means people have proof they can deliver. So far from CIG I've seen missed deadlines, a complete dearth of communication about features disappearing or being massively changed, and a shoddy product. I've seen a whole lot of promises, and not much follow-through on most of them.
Will that situation change? Quite possibly, and I hope it does - I'd like to play a finished version of the game someday. But a lot of things have to start changing for that to happen. From the speed they've managed to deliver at so far, I'm not at all convinced we'll see any meaningful non-alpha release of the PU in 2017, or possibly even 2018. If there is one, it'll be a basic shell the same as ED was at launch - which is exactly what CR said he wouldn't do.

On a more on topic note, any predictions for the upcoming CitzenCon

Sure: a great S42 trailer with almost every star included and a promise of release that won't come true, yet another Star Marine demo we can't play, more planetary stuff we can't play, a new concept ship sale, Sandi being weird, Ben being weird, Chris being weird. The End.

They are working harder on that presentation than the game since they need the income badly, perpetual crunchtime for shows can't be good for the devs...

The Squandarin 42 trailer will wow for sure. Expect to see Mark Hamill, Parpman, and a cameo from Sandi in a highly polished and action packed production. They may also showcase a canned version of a new mission from 3.0.whateva

Aww... I like Sandi - It's so cute when she talks about stuff she don't care about...

"Q" So... what's your favorite ship Sandi?

"S" Oh.. there are so many... I like the shooty one!

*edit* I apologise if I've overstepped the mark here... I'm not having a go at anyone, but it's been an awesome sunny day here and my mate Stephan got too many beers and wine at his barbecue. I am as        as a fart.

Just a quick one, dude.

If by 31 December 2016 these features do not exist in a user playable form, will you come here and apologise for everything that you said?

You want to swear by that?

On my part 3.0 isn't exciting (tbh I thought that the demo was horrible), but if they deliver a rich mission system by 31 December 2016 I'll give them their fair dues and admit my error on that part.

I dont Apologize for Mistakes of Others.
The thing is I would actually Offer to Admit that I am wrong about them being Trustworthy if they Fail to Deliver Alpha 3.0 within 2016.
But I would only do that in exchange for you Admitting your Wrong about ED being Trustworthy if they Fail to Deliver.
Just that Unfortunately ED is not making any Promises they could Break to begin with.
Coming Soon is unfortunately not an Promise and cannot be Broken.

So what can you offer in exchange on this Bet ? :)

Okay, I'm biased as hell, fine.

So you're:

a) Willing to wait until 2018 to get something that is just MVP,
b) not what you paid for and that cost 120 million dollars (and the rest),
c) is overdue by four years,
d) that contains "an Similar Amount and Depth of Features as Elite Dangerous holds on this Point" (don't you think you're being a bit short changed? seeing as ED has been produced on what? 1/10 the money?),
e) admitting that "it would have been much better management to go about it like ED",

And you still think they deserve to be treated the same? After just admitting ED is a better managed project that will have a similar amount of depth and features for a fraction of the cost that you haven't had to wait god knows how long for?

Can you not see how that might make you look just a teeny weeny bit biased yourself?

1.
Yes you Are.

2.
I would Wait even Longer if in Exchange I get a Proper Game I can Play.
Because this is the one thing to be mentioned here as well.
ED did Deliver their MVP by 2014. But lets be Honest. There was seriously very very little to do in ED back then.
Mining was a Joke. Bounty Hunting was Fun for maybe 2 Hours. Missions are Bugged as Hell even up to this Day. So everyone only Spacetrucked Wares from A to B :)
So if in exchange for Waiting till 2020. I would get a Game that Includes the Progression Tree up to Capital Ships. With lets say 50 Systems that have some Life to them. (Stations and Places that have a basic Life Feeling to them)
An Proper Crime Punishment System that Prevents Senseless Griefing so the Game can be Played without constantly worrying about PvP.
And Finally. An System of Missions and other stuff you can do in that Universe to Progress and have Fun.
I would more than Happily wait until that.

This goes for ED as well by the way.
If ED announced that they would Introduce Destroyer Class and Cruiser Class Ships in Season 4. As well as Reworking the Mission Systems and the Crime Punishment System for Open. Which would be Due for 2020. I would Gladly buy Season 3 in between. And Season 4 the moment they Offer it.

3.
I Paid the Money I paid for it. Not for the Entire Game including Stretch Goals.
I backed it when it still was just the Base Game.
A Persistent Universe with Spaceships in which I could similar to X3 Progress to one Day Fly an Capital Ship.
Including NPC Crew while making Money and Having some Fun Fighting stuff etc.

Thats why I continuesly say that you guys are doing a Double Standard and are Biased like Hell.
Both CR and DBs Visions are not all that Different. Both made Tons of Promises.
The Difference is that DB from the Start First Sold you the Unfinished Game. Never Promising that he will ever Finish the Game to actually Fullfill all the Promises he made.
While CR actually Promised that he will Finish the Game he Promised. And attempted to have it Finished as far as Possible BEFORE releasing it.
Now that the Promises List has Grown ever longer CR now Shifted towards also First Releasing the Game so Far and then Build up on that.

4.
Incorrect.
We got 2016. And Star Citizen has as far as I know never Proclaimed to Release the Game by 2013.

5.
Keyword"
It has been Produced on 1/10 of the Money.
Yes. And it also contained alot less Features on this Production.
Now how much Money has since then gone into Development of the Promises ?
And how much more Money will go into actually Realizing more Features in the Future ? :)

Paying in Installments or Paying right up. Doesnt change the Cost.
If DB really goes through with all of his Promises. The Cost of ED will ultimately amount to the same as SC.

6.
Nobody is Perfect.
HAVING ONE part where it would have been smarter to do something ED did. Doesnt mean its Bad.
Just so you know. Up to this Day I believe ED would be far Smarter to do several things which SC did.
Like going for Capital Ships.
Or not Splitting the Game into Seasons which means some Players cannot Compete in Open because they for example Lack Engineers.
As well as not going for a Power Creep Approach of Ships having completely ridiculous Price Increase. From Smaller Ship for 400k Credits going to another Ship nearly the same Size being several Million Credits.

Being more Efficient in Management is not the Ultima Ratio Mate.
Its just one Part of many.
Many Mafia Organizations have far Superior Management to Legal Companies. But that alone does not make em Better.

Nope.
See Mate here is the Difference.
I see Bad and Good things on both Sides.
This Includes Critisizing that SC Failed on making sure to Release a Game First before adding more and more stuff.
This however also Includes that ED is creating an Power Creep which Border Pay 2 Win Situations thanks to Adding Features in Payed Upgrades which then Exclude the Original People who Backed and Bought the Game because they either have to Buy it as well or cannot Compete anymore.

Do you really think. That someone who Backed SC and has yet to get his Game.
Feels more Betrayed. Than someone who Backed Elite Dangerous. And now has to Buy Horizons to get the First Fraction of the Features he got Promised at start ? :)

Can you not see just how Biased you guys are there that you Ignore such Mistakes and Problems for ED. While Picking on every Mistake that SC made relentlessly ? :)

HOWL
for Chris Roberts

1.
I saw the best jpgs of my generation delayed by madness, stolen hysterical Archered,
dragging Lesnick through the LA streets at dawn looking for an Angry Whopper,
angelheaded hipster devs burning for the crunchtime connection to the forked codebase in the machinery of night,
who bugsmashed and tickled and hollow-eyed and high sat up smoking in the supernatural darkness of Chris' bad planning floating across Restoration Hardware furniture contemplating CryTek,
who bashed their brains against blockers and saw Derek Smart demons staggering on Santa Monica roofs illuminated,
who passed through subreddits with radiant cold eyes hallucinating Star Marine and procedural birds among the missed deadlines,
who cried over unreleased modules in underwear, burning their money on spaceships and listening to the mushmouth through it all...

Well, you can't love the shoes and sell the shoes. And love customers who buy shoes at the same time.
Just ask Al Bundy.
Here he is discussing with his own whales :D

Nope, not me :) I'm quite happy with what I've paid for, all for less than the price of an Idris :)
