The Star Citizen Thread v5

The problem with Reddit is that it's an embarrassment.

It encourages apparently otherwise normal people to make fools of themselves begging for "upvotes" in other media.

It's just wrong in so many ways.

1.
Well that was Explained already. I will just assume you Read it.

2.
I said its a Guess. Not a Fact. So dont expect one on this.
I Simply assume that once Ships are going to be an Persistent Asset. This will also be looked at.

3.
Once more.
Their Original Plan was Releasing Everything at once.
This became Unfeasible because the List Piled Up more and more.
Hence Change of Doctrine towards FIRST Releasing a Game. THEN adding all the extra stuff.
Hangar Module is not very Importand. So its going to wait. Till the actual Game is out.
Not Originally Planned. But thats how it is. And Honestly Said I am glad about it.

4.
Sigh. Lets leave it at that. We both know this will just go on forever with Disagreeing.

5.
Voiceacting, Triggers, Storytelling and Plot.
An Single Player Campaign has alot of Extra Requirements that take alot of Time.
If you only Place a Character in an Empty Room with Mechanics etc. Thats not going to be an Interesting Game :)

6.
Google is your Friend.
And I dont mind that. I am merely telling you. That Delays are something incredible Common in this Industry. And are more likely than a Timely Delivery.

1. You didn't explain anything. We either have persistence or we don't, which is it?

2. So nothing backing up what you said about locking ships. Gotcha. So you are now assuming that spaceships will be a persistent asset. Lets cut to the chase and just use facts and links with each other, it makes for an easier read.

3. "Release everything at once." Do you mean a finished polished game with no fans getting access to Alpha or Beta? I bought the bounty hunter package on kickstarter, lets see what was in it, "Pledge $60 or more
BOUNTY HUNTER: A digital copy of the finished game for your PC with your Origin 300i spaceship ready to fly + 2,000 Galactic Credits + Exclusive access to the Alpha and Beta + Digital copy of game soundtrack + Digital copy of the map for the game universe + Digital 42-page Star Citizens manual + Green Citizen's Card (Physical reward)" - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cig/star-citizen/description

If this wasn't what you meant, please correct me.

4. So you agree that you were putting words in my mouth? I only pointed out that CIG has yet to let me into my friends hangar...going on 3 years after the hangar module was released.

5. I agree with you here, but I'd like to point out that both SC and SQ42 need those features too, no matter how much praise orlando gives the current empty room. As for time, They continuously shoot themselves in the foot when CR gets in front of his fans. He always promises and hardly if ever delivers.

6. I am unable to replicate any of your claim that 30% of games actually make their deadlines. So unless you link your sources, I'll label that as baseless.

P.S. What is your native language?

Well that would certainly be good news.

Edit:
Now that would also imply owning a ship, otherwise the system will never be able to know wich ship belongs to wich player that asked for cargo to be loaded.

We will see, atleast it would be the direction to a vertical slice of SC and that would be a good thing.

LMAO @ electromagnets to stop cargo moving around, I'm pretty sure they just 'refactored' the word of what everyone else knows as 'snap to' points. I can't take any of that vid seriously, it's all just hype for the fun of it.

Also, who on earth in their right mind would be a spaceship pilot and actually 'want' to load their own cargo? SC fans are apparently ship pilots that have aspirations to be forklift truck drivers and manual handlers, hilarity. :D

I really tried. I got to 4:15 and gave up. If you are going to post vids, it would be courteous to say "This is a guy splicing together footage from Gamescom and theorycrafting over the top of it."

Bounty Hunting, it's not so much a role as a plan...

Well if those electromagents are only at the bottom...it will not stop stuff from moving sideways...like a magnet on a refrigirator can be moved around with ease....but they have artifical gravity so it could work i guess aswell as other stuff. But i dont care to much about this stuff and its explanations.

Whaaaat? Did you never play Freelancer and think “oh wow, I really wish that this going back and forth between two stations for all eternity would be really improved by a much more cumbersome UX/UI”?

I'd just like to offer sincere thanks to you and all the other stalwarts in this thread who watch this crap so I don't have to.

Funny, now you mention it, nope :D

How long before CIG start selling 'cargo loader mechsuits' ala Aliens' style forklift walky grabby things in the cash shop for $100 a piece? :)

Do you not remember how much fun it was in Deus Ex when you stacked boxes to get around something for the first time, and then never bothered with it again because it was faster and more fun to slaughter your way in.

Good news for games that was build in Cry Engine From Mid-November they will Support Vulkan API....possible better performance in future for SC???

Someone on that thread referred to "Red Capes incoming!" I presume that is the derogatory tribal epithet for AMD supporters? I'm not really up on all this "We don't like the village the other side of the hill..." malarkey!

That would be good! We could add armour and weapons to them and give them heat mechanics. Make them different sizes and use dropships to battle on planets.

Why has no one thought of this before?
