Hi guys.
I've read a lot before posting.
I haven't try AC because I have a ****ty connection and it'll take 10 more hours to have the damn thing.
I have to say : I have pledge a almost the same time for ED & SC.
I have absolutulely NO PREFERENCE AT ALL for one or another.
Sometimes i feel like every comunity is bashing the other, and it bother me a lot, I thought people were a little more mature.
I've made the same statement on the SC forums.
A lot of comments and concerns on the flight model of SC seems very legitimate to me.
BUT is it really a surprise ? CR has NEVER realeased a true sim. I have Wing Commander box behind me : wasn't a space sim. Same goes for Starlancer & Freelancer. He focus on the story line, the characters & give an accessible gameplay (boring one ?).
But I had great time playing his games nonetheless.
Over the years, the last true Space Sim i've played was I-War & I-War 2. Hell, was so hard to play without a good joystick that I've never finished it ! For me it's a 1st. But I will get back on it with my brand new HOTAS !
If CR wanted to make a better, deeper Freelancer why not. But not market it as a hardcore sim.
Flying a ship with a mouse is a nonsense to me to (had a really har time to play freelancer at 1st beacause of that), like playing Gran Turismo with a pad an calling it a sim (I used to drive Grand Prix Legends).
Started ED when premium beta came out. And, gosh I still have a hard time mastering the flight model and combat (especially with an old Wingman FFB).
So may be it's not a bad thing that SC is different, arcady, because I was wondering : will I have enough time for 2 games that demands a lot of personnal investment as ED ? Answer : probably no.
Does I have time for a hardcore space sim & a more easy access space game : YES.
And don't miss the point here : we still have to thank CR & DB to put back in the front of the scene the genre we all love. They have different approach and it's good. They are both giving a finger to big companies that one day decided to stop making space game.
I'm optimist for both games hope to see you in the verse/galaxy...
Cheers from France !
