The Star Citizen Thread v5

You can continue saying this to yourself but the reality with the obvious evidence is a different one.
For CIG it is not a matter anymore if they will find an potential investor in the absolute (and highly unlikely) worst case scenario but rather then which one will give them the best offer.

And the game has a clear focus.

He's not saying it to himself he's saying it in a thread where the majority of posters agree with him. You are just claiming he's saying it to himself in a weak attempt to discredit him.

SC does have a clear focus, other peoples money. Anything else is subject to change, denial it was ever said, refactoring or plain old fashioned goalpost shifting.

That's yet another leak from a guy in the Evocati test group.

The irony is that these guys are really upset with him for leaking info.....about their "open development" game. I don't even know what to think anymore, man. This is just too much comedy to comprehend

Mr. Smart - Do you want to know what really the funny part is? The maintenance mode you claimed the project was in earlier this year shows astonishing progress. I hope that your own project will also enter such an maintenance mode at some point.

What progress do you think CiG has made ?, SC is still broken, it's still a tiny fraction of what was promised and the disconnect between marketing and reality is still absolutely huge.

The emperor has no clothes.

Well we will know it for sure in the coming years right?
I bet my money that this opinion is inaccurate/wrong .. but what do I know as a member of a game developing and publishing company that has released several games in the past few years include one of the most successful Free to Play titles.

Star Citizen is the most amazing game ever!
It has a clear focus!
It is on time!
The scope is massive!
The features are groundbreaking and have never been done before!
2.4 is so much fun, you can play it for hundreds of hours!
The upcoming 1.1 1.2 1.4 2.0 2.1 2.4 2.5 3.0 patch will make you all shut up and join Star Citizen, nobody will play ED anymore once this hits because it has everything.

@Atres Alfahan you can go take a biobreak, I've got you covered. ;)

Was going to write something, but...I..Can't stop laughing [big grin]

Because Microsoft bought out Digital Anvil and spent best part of 2 years getting the game as left by CR into a releaseable state... after the deadline had already been well missed. EDIT: And the studio had run out of money.

In this case the publisher was the only reason that a game was actually released at all.

I've modded Freelancer, and you can see which bits were finished off by Microsoft in the system definition (ini files) scripts (well I can, there's a definite shift in "coding" style). As far as a logical data structure goes for defining all the various star systems and their content (planets, stations, asteroid fields, nebulae, NPC spawning stuff, tradelanes, jump gates & jump holes, patrol zones, patrol paths, factions etc etc etc) in that game, it's a horrible mess, and no wonder it took so long to finish.

We already know it, every year a release is promised, every year it doesn't happen. The jesus patch isn't yet released to the avocati so it looks like even that won't make it out this year. When the jesus patch does drop based on whats happened so far it'll be minor tweaking with no forward steps and still retain ancient game breaking bugs, it will however be inaccurately hailed as the best thing since sliced bread.

I'm also betting your money that he's right, as they've never produced anything high quality enough to risk my money on. I have nothing to lose and everything to gain by being wrong.

The whole "you don't understand game development" thing is old and worn out. It doesn't matter if you or I understand it at all, what matters is does Chris Roberts understand it. Right now it looks like he doesn't.

So... SQ42 was not the only thing that's not coming out in 2016 as planned...

Will "Soulcrusher" Leverett stated that 2.6.0 will need several more weeks of work before Evocati testing. This means October at the earliest, maybe even November. Public release would then be in December.

Only the most faithful would believe that the massive 3.0 "Jesus Patch" will thus still make it in 2016.

uuuuuuuh name of the person please? You know...for research.

This is well off topic, but that's Florence Faivre who plays Julie Mao in The Expanse, an awesome TV version of the already awesome sci-fi novels by James S. A. Corey (a pen name for the collaboration beween Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck). Well worth both a read and a watch.

So just to check are we will being amazed and made to eat our words when 3.0 is out before xmas?

Depends on what kind of state it is in, should it release before Dec 31st this year.
It'd be nice if it did release by then, and is reasonably OK. It would be extremely optimistic (IMHO) to have that expectation though.

It really is one of the best sci fi series to come out the past years.
It doesn't get the attention it deserves imo.

And again we have opposite opinions but this is fine.

I tell you what, let’s make a compromise and agree that we disagree. We can sit back and enjoy the show, see what happen in the coming year.

Fact is either you nor me will have an influence on the events to come so we can discuss this all day long but in the end this is insignificant for the project as it simply will move forward regardless how much you try to stop or change it. So feel free to ramble around all day, shout at the massive wall and be mad if you like this. It does not matter and if it pleases you it is fine.

Isn't it interesting that some folks have this reaction to a thread on the internet discussing and cracking jokes about Star Citizen and need to put it in it's place for some strange reason. Nothing can stop or change it! It's all useless! You can't stop THE VISION! It doesn't matter what you say! So let's spend a lot of time discussing what we say.

Er?
