So...

Does this mean they are making the whole SQ42 game in a single system? That would surely be a first in story driven space games as far as I know.

Seems the "Just wait till CitizenCon..." really petered out once it was revealed there really isn't going to be anything other than another heavily sale oriented slapped together demo.

Well, umm... errr... you know, SQ42 is soooo sort of cinematic, we're now refactoring it as errrr... well you know a highly physicalized kind of Direct-to-DVD full of AAA-actors and fidelity.

Buy a javelin so we can afford selling more Idrises.

Had someone pop on the TS from another org shocked to hear I was petitioning for a refund. He was like, "but what are you going to rebuy in for". And my answer was nothing. Then listed a large reason of why I should buy something and my answer was I'll spend $60 if the game is ever released. Or hell I'd spend more than that during the "last chance" sale if they ever end up producing a decent beta. But I told him the game as pitched to us 4 years ago ain't happening. The game that was proposed 4 years ago could have been made. In fact many parts of it has been made...by another studio called Frontier Developments PLC.

Yes, as far as I know it's been based around a single system for a while now.

How much have you spent? https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/348572/how-much-have-you-spent

Some bonkers stuff there. A fairly recurring theme with it is that people started small and "over time just kept adding ships".....

That's exactly why SC never needs to get released CR!!! if you keep procrastinating and dragging it out with a few jpegs now and then these idiots will keep spending!!! Keep on keeping on fidelitous-man!!!

People there are happy putting down several thousand dollars for a concept of a game, never mind it won't be that ever if it even becomes much of something in the next two years - and then there are people who claim they are buying "art." That ain't art chuckles, those are jpegs that are worth nothing.

If the game ever gets made - I fully expect a flood of "I spent $$$$$$$ on this game and got killed by someone who can't even afford clothes! So unfair! I demand they get banned immediately and CIG give me another Idris!"

This is one of the reasons I'll be holding back on my purchase of Star Citizen even if it is released. I want to see what happens to normal players. I understand that the results of that poll could be skewed by people proud of their purchases, but over half the people in that poll have spent over a thousand dollars.

I do get the feeling that my purchase of the cheapest of options will mean that I'm treated as a second class citizen.

Well apparently you can earn all the ships in game but how in hell they'll balance the requirements I don't know. I mean how much gameplay would earn you a 500 dolla ship if your just a normal Joe that's bought the game retail release. Too much time and effort and it totally annoys people who walk away grumbling on forums too little and your original whale backers will be up in arms.

Cool business model though. Lots of money!!!!

It's also a reason why if the game ever gets to release it will be hilarious to watch videos of alpha whales in their big ships getting dogpiled/sabotaged/generally trolled.

And with the talk of them signifcantly increasing the cost compared to what they are now, you could be spending time equivalent to $1500. At 6000 UEC per hour and 3 hours per night you're talking about 84 days to earn that ship.

Ugh...I can't imagine the kind of crowd that will be playing should SC be released. I also am not interested in grinding through this game, given the way things look at present.

I'm going to play Sq42 and leave it at that.

I bet that last comment went down well!
