Seriously? Are the fishtanks still a thing?
I remember when that was listed in one of the stretch goals (has to be at least 2 years ago now), and I questioned it on the forums.
I got attacked 6 ways till sunday for questioning their decision/path. Haven't been back to their forums since.

Yup - still a major selling point apparently. You can also pay for ship models and put them on stuff in your hanger!

I'm watching this 'cos I have beer. Lots of beer.

*edit But not enough apparently - I just had to turn it off.

Thankfully I stocked up yesterday. :)
I'll be home in an hour or so. Hope they're still covering the fishtanks by then. :D

So is the audience hollering and cheering at every bit? including the fishtanks?

I can certainly agree with this; however, how can they implement tech that hasn't been developed for an engine that was never intended to do the things they are making the engine do now?

Well, isn't that a problem in itself? Supposedly, when you decide on which engine to use, you have an idea of what you want to do with it. You'll have a decent idea of what it'll do well, what needs to be changed, and how one goes about doing just that. And when the scoop increases, you keep in mind how the new stuff fits in with the old planning. But here we are, half a decade down the line, and I still run the risk of instant death when opening doors, sitting down, using a lift etc. And beside CS supposedly being the pinnacle of open development, none of us have any idea what needs to be done, if they have a plan, how long it'll take and what any alternatives are. Hopefully at some point things will be fixed somehow. And then they'll some kind of undisclosed gameplay to it, at some point.

It's bizarre.

Drunks of Sol approve! Don't worry ladies and gentlemen, in the name of fidelity, immersion and realism - I'll watch the whole thing later, no matter how clenchingly unwatchable it gets!

Buy a Polaris!

OK, let's try to make this simple.

A company failing to deliver due to bad management isn't a scam. A company failing to deliver due to dodgy practices is a scam. In both cases they do not deliver.

This isn't necessarily black & white, but a sliding scale between bad management and dodgy practices.

No it's quite the opposite. See scamming implies intent to deceive. I have never read anywhere that someone was accused of scamming without the intent to deceive their clients/customers/people. What you tried to do was some hookie bull      to try to justify that "dodgy practices" are equivalent to "scamming" people.

This is the kind of crap that really grinds my gears because you damn well know that there is a clear distinction between the act of scamming and what grievances you all have.

Taking one for the team - achieved!

Nope - It's just a livestream from a few beards and a lass with a whiny voice at CIG - no convention stuff at all.

Scam involves a dishonest scheme, and CR/RSI/CIG are all about dishonest schemes. Like releasing "this is coming soon!" demos that still aren't in game, or intentionally fabricating demos that are not representative of any current build either in public or dev side with the sole purpose to sell more jpegs. There is a lot of dishonesty going on from CR/RSI/CIG.

That's it, had enough - They just said "The magic of SC is in your dreams" That's why you should back it.

If I'm gonna keep watching, I think I need to go out for a bottle or two of whisky.

If that's what you think, then get over it and move on, like everyone else would do in your case. This is not the game you're looking for, so it makes no sense to waste your time on anything related to it.

One of the downsides of Genuine Roberts chosen audience though - PC gamers who remember Wing Commander - is that an awful lot of them are industry professionals.

Real game designers, real programmers, real network engineers, real infrastructure analysts, real hardware architects - you name it - and an awful lot of those are left scratching their heads.

Before your edit I was just about to post contemplating joining you in watching - seeing as I also have lots of beer.

It was that close.

Thank Braben that I pressed F5 just in time!

Fat chance that will happen because they have to proclaim that their subjective "truth" is the only truth and nothing else...

IIRC, everything that they have been giving us has been to test what they currently have available that is working. The mini-pu and, to a certain extent, Arena Commander (along with Star Marine) were suppose to be test beds and that Star Marine/Arena Commander were going to games within the game after the testing was all done.

So under these circomstances, the most accurate description of what the mini-pu is, is a test environment.
Well, it was their job to do, create the tech. I can understand delays but, many gameplay stuff should had been implemented with more priority than many of the ships.

And guys, try to remain civil and avoid attacking other forum users...

I don't know about anyone else but I feel strangely convinced...
