Time for just a tiny additional chart update, now with a bit of perspective thrown in for good measure (and by request), since they've not posted things for a future alpha that we're not meant to expect during the next year. [hehe]

I'm going to SC a little bit of a break here.

I've just watched the "gameplay" video and Dune sandworms, Starwars Tusken raiders and rough edges aside, I was very impressed by the way it looked (I know, tech demo not a game). Lets face it, if the voice over had been David Braben and we were being shown ED:Spacelegs we would all be creaming our collective undies right now. "What about the game?" type questions would all be being swept aside in massive mutual hypegasm (lets face it, ED's planet surface game is still pretty barebones right now).

I really hope that ED's atmospheric planets can compare favourably to this is what I getting at.

The main difference is if something for ED was shown...it was delivered. I remember the little sneakpeaks we got before the horizon release. Beside the camera movement...yes you can do it to a letter. Or the streams when they drove the scarab around...yes we are able to do it right now.

Or when they showed off in videos about the features in patch 2.2...we are doing it right now i the beta. There is general excitment if you know what is shown is the real deal...or out off years long experience that what someone show is never the product you get in the end.

8.45

It seems the footage from the side of the wheel is played twice. Streaming glitch? could be.

28.25 onwards

Dune worm appears, Console is accidently opened showing the name of the map is a CitizenCon exclusive an not from gameplay. :/

Then Dune worm vanishes for no reason and camera does a long distance pull back sequence to show the whole scale of it all. Then while its in space, Dune worm spit gets splatted across the screen and then suddenly back on the ground looking at the Dune worm.

Camera does the long distance pull back sequence a second time, although this time with the Dune worm in sight which I believe was the intended shot to replace the previous shot. Pull back sequence ends with the 'Star Citizen' logo appearing.

Definitely not a streaming glitch.

I love how the whole video is interspersed with a guy sat with a joystick in front of him like he is actually playing. I'm not convinced, just looked like a scripted sequence on rails to me.

At 28:30 with worm disappears rather quicker than i suspect it should have.

As for it being a specifically generated map for the event, no surprises there. Everything was clearly set up for the demo. Sort of thing that lends itself well to the singleplayer game and the sort of event that one would hope you will see in SQ42. Hope people don't get the idea that this sort of thing is likely to occur in the MP version of the game.

Sure, because if David Braben would show this it WOULD be in the game and scheduled for Beta testing soon.

I don't think Frontier have made or shown a proof of concept video since before Alpha 1 have they?

Anything demonstrated at a trade show or stream has been due for release shortly afterwards, to the point that we're pretty comfortable that what we're being shown is very mature development-wise.

I guess it's whether you prefer the Apple key-note approach, here's an announcement ...aaaand it's available to buy today.

OR

The Microsoft approach, look at Hololens! Look at Microsoft Surface, Looky! looky! it's a holographic touch screen table. You can't have it though. You can have a laptop about five years later or a bit of plastic to open your DVD tray.

Sure we would and sur the questions would be swept aside because we already have a solid game and we know they deliver what they show. Period.

As of today CIG only produced fuel for dreams, barely more...

If CIG had followed up their demos/tech with released gameplay, Id be pretty hyped too. But they haven't and until they have then it's hard not to continue to have massive doubts. FDev's sneak-a-peak have been in game and not a scripted demo. Gameplay - well it's hard to fill a universe with lots of stuff to do, especially since there's a lot to go wrong with proc gen missions in terms of edge cases. We do know that DB has said they have plenty more ideas for missions and that we can with a high degree of certainty expect them to appear when they are done/time is right. Trust is the big issue here. It took time for FDev to build it up because people were sceptical and highly critical. But they stuck to their guns and the game has improved no end (in my view).

The only one I can recall is the "Capital Ship" video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VE8B4KptyVI - September 2013

They have streamed internal builds of upcoming releases - Horizons planetary landing and exploring being one I recall, where several devs were mucking about in SRVs.
We've usually had the release in beta within a few weeks of the "reveal" though.

You know when I said I thought they'd be talking about 4.0 I didn't really think they would

it was just a joke

and now look at it all

They always have to have something shiny way in the distance to distract from the now.

The citizens need to sustain their hype/hope..

Because we know when FD show us something it's going into the game very soon (TM)

The difference being that Evert beta stream FD had showed exclusively Stuff that came into the game. Which is the exact oppositie of CIG. So when they fail to show the actually game, again, and show another Tech demo, people lose interest.

Fwiw: I'd be fine if ED spacelegs looks like ME2. I do, however, want it to actually work.
