There's an awful lot of "will","might", "in theory" for $750
*Snip*Anyway, all this is because the citizencon "planets v2" demo was all about showcasing the graphics and scale of it, people already knew that before citizencon. *Snip*
Not them zooming over a quarter of a planet and having really bad graphical glitches all over the place. It was embarrassing to watch.
Could you please provide a source or sources for this? Cause as far as I know no one had a clue what was going to happen at Citizencon.
Just listening the the Planet Coaster stream that's on at the moment. Dev on the stream said said that there's no mocap in it*, all the animation was done by 6 people and if you played it all back-to-back it would take over 2.5 hours to play it all.
*that confirms btw that the mocap jobs listed on the Frontier website some time ago were most certainly ED related.
I am in my low 30s, thanks. But anyway, i'll explain you what is all this about.
I don't put a lot of weight on graphics, but i admit graphics are important in a game which aims to push the limits of PC gaming.
Anyway, all this is because the citizencon "planets v2" demo was all about showcasing the graphics and scale of it, people already knew that before citizencon. But people here started criticising that the demo had scripted events, which was totally unrelated to what the demo was all about, and anyway they should already know the AI stuff is not done yet.
Then when they were explained that the planets v2 demo was all about the graphics and scale and nothing about gameplay, they suddenly went like "bah, those graphics are crap" "Nothing impressive here" "dated graphics" etc...
You see a pattern here?
After a discussion in which they tried to compare the graphics of SC with those of ED to make SC look graphically worse and failed hard on their attempt, then they suddenly all turned to criticise the sandworm and "how unoriginal it is" "plagiarism" etc...
You see the pattern again?
No matter what, always criticise SC, everything about SC must be bad. If CIG do something good, they must always make it look bad. If they do something wrong, they must make it look like a crime. If they don't do anything wrong, then they must make up something bad. This, ad infinitum.
With all my respect to this guys, but after almost 1500 pages of the same stuff repeated over and over and over, it's starting to get a bit tiresome.
Now you might question yourself if you should have asked other people about their age instead, right?
Until CR starts to show real meaningful progress in the game he has pre sold many of us I think it's fair for us to not praise everything he says to the 9th degree.
I want the game to succeed but I feel the possibility of that is floundering under the msssive workload still ahead.
i can't bring up concerns over at RSI or Reddit without having crap flung st me.thay made me a little bitter at the defence force
This. Basically, if you keep promising stuff for years and never deliver any of it, the cycle does kinda get repetitive. And if people want to come here and insist its all super fidelicious, the best game ever, sure to succeed at everything and all that stuff you'll get the same responses. I know I'll change my tone if CIG manages to deliver anything that is close to the release quality of, say, X:Rebirth. [rolleyes]
I've been sold on CR's 'dream' since 2012, and happily so. If he can pull it off I'll be a happy camper. However, as you say we need to see 'meaningful progress'.
Yes, the concept artists have great leaps in progress, for sure. But Jenner - they made the Polaris! That is "meaningful progress" surely? It's progress means so much to them that they built a whole showcase video about it - even though specifications are not finalised, it's not in the game, nobody really knows it's purpose, it's $750, and you'll need a small army of people to use one, but it's part of the "dream!"![]()
People still falling out of the turrets, I see...
(apologies if this has already been posted)

Yeah.
It's aggravating, too, because I see the great potential. I just played a bit of SC, doing some ICC and Comm Array missions, and they're really fun. However, I had loads of bugs to deal with and bad performance. It's been that way for years. Sabre was really fun to fly, though, and the dynamic music is something I wish ED had.
The Agent on the SA forums says employees have been told they are moving to Brno (correct spelling) in the Czech Republic. They are not happy.
