It is so manufactured I can't believe that post isn't by anything other than a reputation management company, it's not the first time where I saw "I even rescued a player!"

Reading through his previous Reddit I saw this,

I have almost 700 hours in Elite, and am somewhat running out of things to do there.
I've seen a lot of this game from the outside and the controversy ie: development hell, scams, never ending delays, etc.

Say what?

The guys posing history makes me think it's genuine. If he wants to tool around falling out of turrets for a bit, that's up to him - sometimes it's nice to grab a break.
We'll see if he feels the same after a week. :)

He has made billions in Elite getting to the Cutter....and obviously still doesn't understand what Elite is.
Posting your opinion has consequences. If I ever see him in Elite, I'll ask him why he's still playing :D

It will herald a new era of exciting, engaging, high fidelity and realistic gameplay.

Star Scrubber!

Work your way up from the lowest of the low, dealing with unexpected situations in a valiant attempt to keep the Space Navy going!

I wonder how long it will take before players start griefing each other with wet floor signs :D

I used to be a space janitor like you, but then I took a lulzmop to the knee.

"I've got probably 600+ genuine hours in Elite, and have about 3 billion in assets in that game, so you could say I was invested."

Right so 5 million an hour (genuine hours not fake ones!) which when you take into account time needed to get started is much fishy.

Just like the rest of the post is fish, sounds like a rep company to me.

He also jumped head first with a Constellation purchase as well as a Freelancer purchase. If you're plonking down somewhere between $260 - $365 then you're not going to want to see the flaws, that all comes later.

I bet he loved the deep trading mechanics in SC. Or the mining.

Heh, being able to buy your ships in game is a nice bonus too.

Edit: It's starting to make more sense. The guy was a Sothis/Ceos grinder focused on income and big ships. No surprise he got bored and no surprise he jumped games when Frontier closed that silly income earner down.

I did the Sothis thing for about a few weeks before I got tired of it, yeah so no wonder then if that was the case.

"If you have the disposable income to get into the game, I highly recommend giving it a try. You don't even have to spend a lot to get into it. The basic ship will get you around, and if you are craving something bigger or more robust, there were tons of people looking for crews to do missions. You could join up and fly in a turret with someone or just ride shotgun until you get to your destination."

That doesn't sound like a normal human being to me though, it doesn't sound right.

Not really, i have 500 hours and 2 billion in assets, could have been even more if I stuck with the long haul grind. But the jumping into a none-game at $300+ marks is odd.

Just watched the new Mass Effect : Andromeda trailer. I am now playing "Guess which parts Roberts will invent/refactor/steal"
I'm going for the very low flying ship.
Your turn.

Point taken, I could never grind too much myself however.

I think I made most of my money in Elite through the PowerPlay fortification thing where I'd leave it running in the day and have a macro fill up an Anaconda every half an hour. In the end I kind of wondered why I was doing it but initially I did find it strangely amusing. I have to finish off at the end of the week by going to a combat zone but it wasn't really a grind, in fact I thought it was the least grindy thing I could think of at the time to do to get money.

Actually, i posted in that thread, and have just taken the time to edit my post and thank everyone for their nice responses.

Sure, if i'd have gone in there and started trying to explain how ED is better than SC, and start hightlighting SC's development problems, i'd have probably ruffled a few feathers, but i went in cautiously and didn't get my head bitten off.

Now, maybe, just maybe, the OP was manufactured, but without any sort of proof, i'd remain sceptical of such an accusation, especially when scanning back through his post history, it looks genuine, especially even when there are some posts in defense of ED. I'll go with it being a genuine post.

I didn't go through the poster's history so I jumped the gun - but I have seen new posts just like that on the SC reddit where they talk about how many hundreds of hours of ED they play and SC is so great because space legs and that there was someone that lost their ship so they "rescued" them or gave them a ride somewhere.

If being a taxi driver to someone that got their ship blown up makes SC so much better, then have at it but its just so odd that it keeps showing up as one of the reasons why ED sucks and SC is so great.

Wait until he's done 600 hours of loading screen.[hotas]

In the hypothetical scenario that CIG cease to exist, what will happen to the assets, the music ?

Will they disappear never to be seen or heard again except on the internet historical archive, or will they become public domain ?

Quite likely a creditor of some sort would end up owning them. Unlikely to become public domain, unless said creditor was feeling generous. There have been previous cases where source code from defunct developers has ended up being 'available' to modders, but the legal position has often been unclear, and modders have probably got away with using it because pursuing a legal case over obsolete software would be a waste of money.
