Oh my word, that radar (shamelessly ripped off of Elite, natch), on hydraulic jacks!!!!!

I'm pretty sure when I run with a helmet on, it doesn't bounce up and down on my head!!!! So they replaced the stupid head-bob, with stupid helmet-bob????

If it's like that when this thing ever releases, I can't play it with that in it - I almost barfed 10 seconds into the video!

I started to feel funny 2 minutes into video. I was like holly momma I didn't know SC will make me vomit my guts even before actual release.

How that radar even makes sense for 'on footie' action?

https://www.google.com/trends/explore?cat=8&q=/m/0n5v7g2,

Statistics are fun, its clearly visible there is more interest in Sh*t in the world then in SC beside the odd spikes for SC but then its all sh*t again.

Conclusion: statistics are the worst means trying to prove a point.

You are kinda right. Stats can be leveraged to fool audiences. That is why I limited it to the US for bar graphs and am only comparing among video games. I'm not trying to bring in tangential things that have nothing to do with the topic at hand. A statistical strawman, if you will. As long as we are making honest comparisons in limited and familiar populations then the data is pretty fair.

More people take interest in many other games before Star Citizen. The gap is in orders of magnitude. I think that is safe to say that SC being the most anticipated game (according to Orlando) is a bunch of hyperbole that is not based in anything but effective marketing.

Amazing veteran fact helmets do bounce about, that's how you tell the straps and internal fittings need to be adjusted immediately to stop it. The visual effect is only half as irritating as the feeling of it on your bonce.

Just to wrap up that video for more constructive feedback:
* bouncy HUD - no, just no. Also what's with radar for FPS;
* sound production feels very pre-alphaish. I am kinda used to FD polish. There are some nice sounds, and some very terrible stock sounds (step sounds are uhhh);
* mixture of zero gravity/gravity zones are interesting, but could get very confusing. I am yet to see true gameplay value;
* as I have written before feels like hovering outside non-gravity zones mimicks 'turret in space' gameplay where you can pew pew pew everyone running down there without any penalty for as long as you like;
* more I see these SM levels, more they feel very generic mish mash of various franchises. There's lack of certain signature design in SC and it shows;
* enviromental design - again, it looks cool, but feels they are cool for coolness sakes. Lack of context;
* overall lack of context doesn't translate well to me as viewer, might be different for someone playing it;
* too fast paced, no way it is tactic based;

The "eminent collapse"[squeeeee] has been preached since what? 2014? "This year will make or break Star Citizen" kek. "90 days top". "Finished, The End". And what's funny is that the haters eat this spoon fed fud narrative year after year rubbing their hands out of joy at any extrapolation of "negative news" thinking "This is it ! They are doomed now, they will never recover from this, it's all downhill now". But of course that's all in their heads, the reality is that Star Citizen keeps on going and getting better and better with each update. With more inter-connected studios/devs, more players/backers and more money generated per year, and ofc more salt from the same sources. Truly one of the best soap opera's of gaming scene for sure. :D
I think you need to treat Derek's and The Agent's comments more as some of many possible outcomes - they're not meant to be taken literally, much like it seems, anything that CR says.

Though to be fair - historically they do have a much higher accuracy rate than CR's verbal emmissions.

A professional statist is able to prove to you that your dog lays eggs....i am not joking here. At this time and age i am really carefull with statistics of any kind, of course my example was stupid to no end...but have someone being more rethorical competent and he will prove to you ANYTHING with statistic...its the highest class of mental gymnastic out there.

But thats why statistics can be fun...aslong they are not being taken to serious.

Agent quoted two former employees and their opinion about 2017 being last year CIG operates at *full* capacity.

As anything Orlando says...it simply isn't true.

Maybe so - but at least you can used straps and pads, or do you need to get them in the in-game trouser shop???

I'm guessing that even if the helmet did bounce about, you weren't stupid enough to tape a radar display to it ;)

Although any vision system locked to the helmet and not the person's head (which, you know, won't move relative to their eyes much) seems really silly, especially in the future.

Also the horizontal stalks out to the vertical stalks - what's the point of those on the radar? To make it different enough from Elite to not get sued???

They name their companies for a reason - you'll get Repetitive Strain injury from playing it, if not Chronic Induced Gastroenteritis.

If a motorcycle helmet is bouncing around on your head - junk it before it kills you :D

I have no idea why you'd be wanting a bouncing HUD - or indeed why anyone looking at your helmet would be able to see your HUD unless it was projected to a fixed point on the inside surface of your visor (in which case it would remain fixed in position) or to a apparent point at infinity from your perspective (in which case they would see a light blob).

Maybe Genuine Roberts has invented hard light or something - a little spinning object that projects solid light that can be affected by external influences maybe.

Guys, relax.
Cryengine is FPS engine after all and CIG know what they're doing.
I'm sure you'll be able to purchase Vision Stabilization system from Voyager direct store for $20 or so, soon.

The helmet bob is a feature of their Amazing Stabilised Bird Vision™. Their clever solution to excessive head bob was to stabilise the camera movement independently of the head/helmet. But they can't stabilise the head itself, because then it would look stupid in third person (shoulders bobbing but head not), and the whole point of this animation system was that it's vital (apparently) that first and third person models are exactly synchronised, regardless of how little difference it makes to game play, or how it's actually turned out to have more egregious side-effects and has taken them years to develop.

If enough people criticise it, they'll end up with a decoupled system which will basically be what they would have had if they had never developed their own system in the first place, except about 2 years later.

Didn't they already have a decoupled vision mode way back when they were in the pre-pre-pre-alpha very early stages of development?

Yes, yes they did :)

Star Citizen has yet to actually exist, and regardless of how pretty it looks in its current state, the actual game mechanics count for much more - unless people are paying money just to look at pretty spaceships.

How long does it take do all activities in SC's current state, if you discount the time it takes to d/l updates?

See for yourself: https://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Star Citizen

PS- 3 Girls streaming it atm, yeah big spaceships and male avatars sure turn off woman to play... unless it's Star Citizen. :D

Oh and that's a buggy restricted PTU "buggy tech demo" , "with nothing new for all year". [rolleyes]

I've watched WTFofsaurus make the rounds ad nauseum. I would have set his streams to full screen mode as a screensaver, but with all the crashes and nothing much happening, it was more likely to burn a static image into my monitor.

I may watch a stream later tonight. It'll be a good way to combat insomnia.
