I love how Sunleader will give a long diatribe about game design as though he is some sort of knowledgable authority on the subject, only for Tippis to just calmly eviscerate him seemingly without much effort...and for Sunleader to then promptly ignore Tippis and continue as though no one noticed. [haha]
I am ignoring him because I have him on Ignore.
And he aint taking apart anything. He merely comments on details of a system which are meaningless to note because most people wont understand a word about it.
Sure a Dynamic System which changes the size of the instanced areas depending on playercounts to prevent unecessary loading makes sense.
But its not required for an explanation of the system.
Its a bit like having a Electrician around when explaining Electrics to Students in Physics class.
The Teacher says. For the Light Bulp to make light you need form a Curcuit. One line is for transporting the electrons from the positive pole to the light bulp. And the second line is to Transport the electrons from the light bulp to the source.
And the Electrician jumps up.
Screaming.
1. There is 3 lines. You forgot to mention the Earth Connection.
2. Electrons move from minus to plus. Not the other way around
But does that serve anything?
The majority is not Devs.
So bombing them with a fully detailed system makes no sense
The other thing is just him being in favor of instancing.
To me (and many others) the Idea behind *ONE World* is exactly that People can potentially block an area by being there.
The Freedom that you can Block a Station for example and others CANNOT just use another instance to bypass you.
Sure you can see it as an positive thing to have instances.
It allows you to have a much smaller World.
Imagine ED with its Mail Slot Stations when you had 100 Commanders in that System.
If your making a Game where you might have 100 people docking at the same station. That means this Station needs to be designed very very different.
But ones advantage is another ones bane.
For me the knowledge that a Station with but 5 pads right now has 43 ships docked because it exists in 40 different instances is completely unacceptable to me
Takes more performance for sure.
Is more complicated as well.
But thats the promise they made.
So again. Noting out advantages of instanced system is completely irrelevant to the topic
Nothing he said is actually affecting my statement which explained how you can make things work
