Just for the Canonn Databaess: I'm coming back from my trip to Colonia (screw colonia, there are aliens in the bubble!!): Spent about 3 hours and +5000LY flying from a bit after Eagle Nebula back to the bubble: No hyperdictions so far. My only cargo are some survey databases I found on my way.

Which makes me think: Has anyone done any database to report the interdictions, their locations and stuff?

I honestly think the colours and glows of the two ships are too different for them to be the same.

Remember, from what little Canon evidence we have on the Thargoids, there are several different types of Thargoids - but they are not the same, and the same can be said for their ships (would seem logical).

In the videos, the beam of energy it "shoots" us with (I've had it happen to me) are also yellowish in colour - not anything green like what we'd expect after Braben's interview last year when the first sight of an alien ship in space showed us smouldering wrecks with green plasma fires everywhere (especially on the Cobra in the background).

The ships we are seeing Hyperdicting people have hints of red, brown, and yellow (the laz0r) - all of these colours are missing at the Crash Sites, except one: green. Lots and lots of green, just like the UAs.

We can buy paintjobs and weapon colour mods for our ships. That fact that my python is red and my friend's python is grey has no significance whatsoever. So why are you assuming that different colours on the thargoid ship means different (sub-)races and not merely personal preference as it does for us?

Has anyone considered the possibility that the yellow/green light is a Thargoid clone-beam which replaces Cmdrs with synthesized "Manchurian Candidate" clones. I vote we quarantine all the Cmdrs who have "seen the light", just in case.

Other thought:
The article mentions "lights" and "structures" in witchspace tunnels
we pass. Is there are way to analyze the "jump sequences" we record
on video, and maybe run a spectral analysis of the changing sources of lighting?
After all light is used as a medium of transportation for information, correct?

So, couple observations. I've yet to get hyperdicted myself because nothing cool like this ever happens to me in game, but have been watching many videos, and just wanted to point out a few things I've noticed. Might be important, maybe not, may be somebody brought it up already.

1) Thargoid ship seems to need to deploy hardpoints same as the rest of us. You can she the petals 'extend slightly before it does the scan. When it does, you can see revealed what appear to me to be weapons hardpoints on either side of the cockpit. When the petals retract, they are slightly covered. Also of note, one of these hardpoints seems to be missing or filled with a different device than the others. Thargoids hips have varying weapons loadouts maybe?

2) Ship scan uses a ton of power and generates a buttload of heat. You can see the ship venting severely after the scan either heat or gas or both. I also don't know if it signifies anything, but during the scan its propulsion seems to be offline and its drifting ever so slightly to the left.

3) As evidenced by the WhatchamaCon (I can never remember the names of those things) leaked video and crash sites, I believe this scripted encounter could have a second branching outcome. I think so far we have obviously only seen only the happy ending. These ships at these crash sites and the destroyed fleet in the leaked video were carrying something (someone?) to provoke this thing, something it is looking for. Its obviously not UA's or UP's, so then the question is what? The timeliness of the last Galnet article could be a clue. Anyone know where I can get my hands on some Quirium before I head out again?

The only odd thing about the article to me is the notion of the formula for quirium being lost in the first place. Sure we have example of such things happening in the past (Greek Fire comes to mind) but how do you lose something like that in the future where backups are prolific?

There are two ways to "loose" a formula that spring to mind:
1) a conflict arose and the knowledge and databses including backups were destroyed
2) someone made the knowledge disappear, because of reasons of his own.
What happened in the 2800 elite timeline?

Here some excerpts:
2350s Sirius corporation founded, grows rich supplying the war fleets.
2900 inferred After a series of peace talks, the Empire and Federation decide to form a special joint task force whose "official" purpose is research and development of spacecraft and space living technology. It is given the name Intergalactic Naval Research Arm, or INRA for short.
3050 inferred First reported contact with insectoid alien race known as the Thargoids ends in hostility.
3055 inferred The Thargoid invasion officially begins. Massive fleets of Thargoid warships carrying remote controlled fighters ruthlessly cut a swathe into occupied human territory, encroaching on a cluster of stars centred around Alioth. GalCop Navy is mobilized to respond.

Did someone already noticed that the behavior of the UP's changed?
I loose still all instruments in cockpit when honking but i don't get pushed around and i have full control over the throttle and i am still able to move.
If i have still control of weapons i didn't checked yet but i will do this later.
I've seen this because i have tested the honk-range. Still 300m for honk initialising but i get dark and receive massage even at 5km distance. It was testing for a next possible US encounter.
Now i'm off to work

Just another thought.....weren't there somewhere strange containers to find? Was it "RA-12-containers" or something like that? I have this in mind and can't stop thinking about these ones. Does anyone know where i can find these? :S

Also, Drew's blog indicates that Quirium was a closely guarded secret and engineered from Thargoid technology. The data was lost when teh "Galactic Cooperative" that controlled it collapsed. This Blog containing more information about Quirium, was posted today. Another coincidence?

From that i deduct the systems linked with the old "faraway-drive" systems are the following systems:
Sol, Tau Ceti (3), Delta Pavonis, Altair, Beta Hydri, Achenar.

Maybe i mix stuff up, but the info in drew's blog indicate that the "faraway-drive" was used in late 2800s,
but i get from the galnet news it was started in the 2200s.

Ingame info nowhere mention a decomission and dismantling.
So what could we check ingame?

Unless there was no 'formula': rather Quirium was harvested from the Thargoids, there being a 'formula' just the cover story. Could have been the real reason for the original conflict.

When the new drives were developed the need for risky Quirium acquisition dried up, and by sheer coincidence, the Thargoids went back into the shadows.

Perhaps you are referring to the SAP-8 containers? As far as I know, they have not been seen in game for quite some time.

I'm wondering if Metadrive had maybe rediscovered the tech. Whatever it is, witchspace, hyperspace inderdictions, quirim, and Metadrive and Sirius all seem to be related to how we travel in Elite and all of it making the news at around the same time.

I don't know what's about to happen, but something big will.
