I did see it, but seeing as I think nobody could think anything bad of Buck Rogers, I assumed your fingers must've accidentally slipped a few times, or several, and you randomly typed it by chance :)

They must have, all the tight spandex, who cares about acting, I only remember T ^ B part of it :p

Star Wars flipped the script? Some rebels save a goody-goody princess dressed in white from an evil-king-with-evil-voice dressed in black? With smooth strings orchestrated beneath it? Its not just a cliche sci-fi film, its a cliche-film in general. :p

Star Wars might have borrowed heavily from the Saturday matinee movies of the 1940's Buck Rodgers vintage, and massive amounts of it's plot from Akira Kurosawa's movies, however, it also did things that had literally not been done before in Sci-Fi films.

That "goody-goody princess dressed in white"? She was hardly your atypical, shrinking violet damsel in distress who was basically on the screen to be eye candy and to serve the role of being rescued. She actively helped throughout the film, actually *used* a laser gun during the escape from the Death Star and was generally leading the effort to do so throughout. If anything, it was Luke who needed more "saving" in Episode IV for large portions of it! :)

And the application of an operatic, string orchestral soundtrack that you just downplayed there? Tell me, how many sci-fi films had done something similar in the previous 20-30 years before Star Wars? It was considered a big RISK to have such a soundtrack by the studio, who thought that the audience would rather hear a more up to date/modern soundtrack instead.

And ever since, sci-fi films have been using largely orchestral soundtracks due to how successfully they were applied to the Star Wars franchise. :)

And, IIRC, she is the only one of the Rebel spies that a Stormtrooper successfully landed a shot on. I bet that trooper got a glowing commendation and a big promotion :p

(I ofcourse am not referring to the less Rebel infantry on Hoth or any other than the main cast)

$500-600 is the price of 10 full AAA games. I spent an extra £15 on ED and got early access a bonus ship and some exclusive skins. I don't understand how anyone can look at SC's prices and not immediately think "SCAM". Games are simply not worth that much (even good ones).

Because for all the flaws of the crowdfunding model - namely, the removal of any accountability, oversight or need to adhere to a publishing date, not to mention that the crowdfunding model disincentivizes release - the simple truth is that CIG do appear as if they are spending the money on game development and support.

Backers and investors know what they are doing.

They are investing money into a games developer and doing so not for profit, not for oversight, not for accountability - but for the promise that they will be able to make use of a virtual asset in game when and if the game is released.

Now - are CIG and their backers getting good value for money? Should they be further along in the development of the games? Are they going to be able to release the game at all?

Much better questions than "is this a scam?" - which it plainly isn't. They've produced too much work for that to be believable. Of course, maybe they are running on huge piles of debt and robbing Peter to pay Paul but I think it much more likely that they simply went through a period where they squandered a fair bit of cash, made some bad decisions with long term consequences and were overambitious with their end goal, meaning people are getting upset that a game which should take 8 or 10 years to develop isn't out after 6...or 3 if you measure from the time that F42 was setup.

But a "scam"? No.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch

I was a major backer well into the 5 digits (as in, well on the way to 6). I left in early 2015, largely disillusioned by censorship on RSI forums. I realized CIG not only didn't care about what we had to say, but they didn't care one bit about us, backers, in general. I'm now quite happy having nothing invested in this project any longer.

People stormtroopers miss are one with the force, the force is with them...one with the force, the force is with them ;)

So is Leia Organa (Skywalker) weak in The Force? Interesting, Ben will never be as strong as grandfather.

I don't know man I was just goofing on rogue one a bit "I'm one with the force, the force is with me"...force controls destiny so if it is your destiny to be shot by a stormtrooper than so be it ;)

she wasn't killed...everything transpired the way it did because she was A) stunned and B) shot in the shoulder...Han got his plan and the battle chilled out to blow the generator...

See that worked ;)

I wish I had the mental fortitude to dig through all the old videos and find the one with "SQ42 - Coming 2014"

Any WMH 2012/2013?

Holiday livestream 2013?

Just guessing

Great post by the Smokey Bandit on reddit:

It doesn't trouble me that SQ42 is taking so long. It doesn't bother me that they've missed the relsease date more times than I've heard "SQ42 is coming out in 20xx."

It bothers me that at this current moment, CIG and the entire community are still so unsure of if it's coming out within the next year-long period. How many times is it going to be 'right around the corner,' or 'just polishing things up,' yet then still unconfirmed for such a wide stretch of time? How is it, with so many current assets likely finished, that they can't even come up with a trailer for what we'll even be doing in Squadron?

There are bugs in the current PU (or coming soon) that absolutely will affect how SQ42 plays out related to character movement, ship physics, clipping with objects and environments, fps mechanics and supposedly boarding, interdiction, planetside, and functional AI (of which we have seen very little if any at all.)

I absolutely don't buy the whole 'we don't want to spoil anything' mantra that both CIG and this community constantly put out. Showing us non-narrative scenes, or even the smallest amount of actual, contextualized gameplay, would not only restore a lot of people's faith in the project, but would likely bring a surge in funding as well.

I can't understand why they haven't shown us anything at this stage in the game's development that resembles a working (no less fun) single-player experience. Honestly, would you mind seeing some actual dogfighting in a SQ42 level, or a bit of a ground mission? How about even a scripted teaser featuring several of the high-value characters interacting with each other in a non-significant scene?

We have seen everything from whitebox to fully completed assets already, characters, mocap, and the tech needed to string it all together (doesn't require any netcode.) Just how in the hell have they nothing to show us yet that resembles a coherent and structured product, even at its most basic functioning level?

I haven't lost faith in CIG yet. But that's all it is at this point. Faith. A belief that something exists without real evidence that it actually does. With the last minute pull on the demo at citcon, and the unbelievably embarrassing livestream that was supposed to be the end of the year assurance, that faith is quickly fading. If I take CIG's history into consideration, what I see resembles how we were given Star Marine more than a year and a half after it was promised to be "weeks, not months or years" away, stripped down and lacking features/polish that we had already seen completed many months prior. Did they have to scrap something along the way? Did something to do with the planetside tech postpone some of the missions after learning that they want to incorporate them? Why won't they tell us anything about where half of the damn project is at this point? How is this still a 'probably' all the way into 2017?

If we don't see something of value in 2017, not even talking about a shippable product here, I don't know how much longer i can keep up the mental defense that this thing is actually going to come out someday.
Prove me wrong CIG. I and many others are hoping you do.

It is normal for rebel sympathizers to get into delusional explanations.
