That's possibly a tinsy bit harsh.

He could simply be so incompetent that he really doesn't know, and the fact that CIG only seemed to realise they needed a plan for 3.0 at the end of the month CR routinely gave for 'delivery' doesn't suggest a high level of competence.

Or he could just be fully delusional and so really believes his own narrative.

I'm not saying these alternatives are much more palatable, but.....

Still, as a cheery aside, didn't they say that after a January spent planning they'd have a firm date for 3.0, or is this another one of their mutable deliveries?

It is harsh but it's probably not far off the truth. If you're incompetent and you get called out for it you tend to make an effort not to suffer that humiliation again whereas this has happened far too many times now.
The fact that it always happens at their shows, when the largest amount of eyes are on them, and is always accompanied by a sale that is only going to benefit from very upbeat announcements makes it feel unlikely to be coincidental.

What I don't get is why they don't address it to stave off any bad feeling, it would give the impression they respect their backers, people would feel they're being more transparent, PR wise it's win-win and all it would take is "We had hoped to get X to you by Y date but we've decided to hold off because feature A and feature B are coming along faster than anticipated, we feel it's worth waiting until we get those incorporated because of C, D and E, thank you for your understanding and patience."

The Valentine's Day sales... man, people buying into that deserve what they get

Why do the jpegs have such strange prices? $216 or $408 for 2. Are they related to the amount of pixels?

Reminds of the Billy Connolly story about the pub that was having a special offer sale. The sign outside the pub read.

THE MORE YOU DRINK, THE MORE YOU SAVE.

I find the fact that Valentines day only reflect in their sales and not in any ingame gimmicks telling....you know, you waking up in a bed of flowers, << USE >> is replaced with a rose cursor, female NPCs etc etc. The current Valentines day and CiG participating in it in such a way only underlines that they got nothing to show or couldnt be to add a few touches.

No announcements about the game at all. Just give us your money dreamers. I don't feel sorry for anybody still funding this Ponzi scheme. They deserve to lose their money.

- to prove you my love, I bought me some new jpegs so one day (in weeks, not months) we can paarp together while phasing out of spinning ships til the end of time
- I want to divorce, you freak!
- you don't understand game development, honey...

Yeah but where are the ship sales? Stuff working in engine isn't as impressive as half a decade of ship sales, CIG is dominating that market.

Certain game certainly handed it to CIG. Enough said. I collected my jaw from floor few minutes ago. They have gonna nuts over control of avatar appearance.

Who wants to bet that CIG/RSI exposes their dev character builder as a "completed" feature sometime this week.

What I will say though is that this livestream basically exposed the fallacy behind the supposed "progress" that CIG are "openly" showing to people, against a game that is fully released, has a plan and is marching onward with it's development.

It was a curbstomping, Commander.

Who needs progress when you have the best dreams, the brightest dreams. Good people, smart people tell me CIG's dreams are the best of the best. Bigly.

Peter Gabriel raised this point just now on SA.... Basically, for Chris Roberts to combat this latest blow in his solar plexus, he'll have to promise even MORE ridiculous and unrealistic-to-create "features" for Star Citizen... which will just increase the technical debt that is already weighing down the entire project.

Win win for those standing from the sidelines pointing and laughing at CIG.... Not so win win for those people hoping to actually *play* Star Citizen anytime before 2050.
