By who tho?

You think the backers who currently are hard at work to intentionally NOT see the problems and are willing to justify any delay, any change, any lie with kumbajas while continuing to throw sick amounts of money at this thing will suddenly ADMIT they were wrong and it has been THEM being the stupid SOBs who ve been taken advantage of.

*Looks at NMS*

Why, yes.

Anyone tested 2.6.1, has the fps in Crusader got any improvement? I saw some video where this guy plays 2.6.1 and he had constant 60fps with only few drops to 40fps.
A friend of mine tested it also and said that theres no difference in fps to 2.6.

It occurred to me that if you reframe SC as an ARG (alternate reality game), then CIG has already delivered a fully operational experience that is kind of giving value for money; people are getting caught up, joining tribes, skin in the game, scouring the internet for clues, drama is everywhere, defectors abound, risky gambles, villains and heros, rabbit holes, hopes and fears, it's quite the ride!

Absolutely, and it's a game we all take part in, and it is in truth quite entertaining. Dear Mr Smart, in playing the arch-villain, has helped create a polarising effect which creates the artificial impression that there are two warring tribes (I would prefer to say we have the faithful and the sceptical, but that's not as tribal or as interesting).

CIG/RSI has also deliberately "gamified" some aspects of the funding drive, with special offers, "melting" and "unmelting" (reversible pledge swapping), LTI transferability and so on, which make the backers feel like they're playing a game where they can "pay to win" by buying exclusive features (and alien fish tanks) during limited-time sales. Deliberate or not, it cleverly masks the fact that there is no game that approximates to what was being pitched.

An given this is Frontier we are talking about, I bet there will be way more in the actual release than what they show or tell us before release.

Beware the Yaffle Monster!

But you're right.

Ooooh, more concept ships sales! Just what everyone was wanting!

Well, it was that or gameplay, and really there's more than enough gameplay to be had already, wandering around Area-whatever-it-is and sitting in your ship in your hanger, and running down seemingly endless corridors in Port Olisar, and playing 3-D space invaders and that mini game where you run around shooting each other.

Erm, the admitting they've been wrong part? Some will, but if the way Chris Roberts operates is any indication, more likely than not they'll put blame on others. And it'll be the more insightful putting blame on CIG for eyewashing them for so long. I full expect outlash at Derek Smart, anybody who's ever doubted and "bad-mouthed" Star Citizen etc., including this thread. Won't be surprised if it happens, should Star Citizen indeed crumble or end up as underwhelming 1.0 release.

Given the way Derek was set up publicly as a pantomime external villain somehow responsible for internal CIG problems, you could argue that this plan has already been put into operation.

I find it more hilarious that the game that started as "playing a ship" will have character customization sooner then the game that started as "play a pilot".

I'm long past the broken record threshold here, but again, if Elite comes round the corner with space legs before we even see Squadron 42, I won't be surprised if we're in for major fallouts. That's one of two major opportunities to force a reality check for Star Citizen: either release something without the "pre-Alpha" etc. disclaimer or be beaten to a threshold by some other project. In this case the "seamless first person experience" only possible on PC etc. yadda, yadda.

Admittedly, Elite's combat is more arcadey shooting at life bars than anything, but it's still a space game.

Buuuuuuuuuuuurn! :D

Na, it's all good. Star Citizen has faces covered! They showed a tech demo level video with sweeping orchestral music, didn't they? Faces confirmed.

Not that the faces don't look good, but they're worth about nothing until they're in the game.

Don't worry. CR will announce in the next few days that character customization is lined up for the next patch.
