Let's clear something up first... I didn't say "no other space game." My actual statement was, "SC certainly has things in the PU/PTU that some space games aren't offering..."
If that's the interpretation you were going for, then so what?
It's a completely meaningless statement — it tells us nothing of use about anything. [???]

Certainly, some other games offer features that aren't currently present within SC. But that is the case with whole history of video games... and the entertainment industry as a whole, actually.
So what are were even trying to say in the context of the whole “winning the race” discussion? It seems like you were trying to make a point, but it got completely lost in this empty tautology.

So do you actually have any examples about stuff in the PU no other space game offers? You probably forgot to list them when you distracted yourself with Derek...

Well this is quite easy to showcase by just watching some movies in the PU like this:

And this:

These player made clips are quite a good example of how the game mechanics, interactivity, graphical fidelity in the PU can come together to proportionate unique experiences both for the players as for the viewers, no other space game allows you to achieve this kind in depth social interactivity or movie like quality immersion and that's something to cheer for. That's why such a small map like the PU (in the grand scheme of things) can generate so much interest and expectation which is basically nothing compared with what 3.0 will offer.

But to continue, here are some features present in SC, that are not present in some other space games:
OOOOH OOOH

Do you actually mean certain other space games? That's very clever. Nobody will notice. This should be fun now though 'cos it's getting worse.

- The ability to walk about your ship
- The ability to walk around a station, or EVA in space
Meh though - I've seen what you all do with it and I'm plenty fine without it.
- Multicrew within a ship
In 3...2...1....
- FPS combat
woo. see above.
- An in-game market, that allows a player to buy weapons and gear with in-game credits
- An in-game market, that allows a player to customize their armor or other apparel
Is this some hoity-toloity term you're using for 'shop' now to make it sound like it's the oft-desired player-driven market.... which it's not. At all. It's a shop.

Not suggesting you're trying to sneak anything past us there. Make it sound y'know like more than a shop, that everyone has.
- Cinematic-style camera controls
- Seamless (ie, no loading screen) transitions between normal space and hyperspace
Oooh dear. See the camera thing is about to go south bigtime by the looks of it - and the seamless thing has been covered endlessly. It's a bit of a thin thread to hang onto

Oh I can think of one other, uh -- entity... that has that style and loves "disconnecting" former believers that demand refunds or quibble about the founder. A group that has members that become absolutely vicious when former community friends and even family get declared unmutual by the church police.

Let's just drop the Scientology comparisons now, as we all know the following posts will be removed.

I totally forgot though - I should do a list of features that certain (and by certain I mean Star Citizen) space games don't have

aint-nobody-got-time-fo-dat.jpg

Good lord roberts that'd take me all night

I'm pretty sure that saying Star Citizen is like scientology in that the two share some characteristics is not off-topic. I'm sure a moderator will correct me if I'm wrong.

Why, can you think of other companies that cancel your account if you dare ask for a refund? Would be interesting to see what company CIG is in since you're compiling lists. I've had slow refunds before but I can't recall any that added a dash of vindictiveness.

It's an amateurish policy that really highlights the unprofessionalism that has underlined this project from day one.

I actually mean "some", which I what I said.

I was asked for specific features not present in some other space games, and I listed them. If they are not features that are important to you, so be it. If they are features that will some day be in other games - as I've already stated, I won't find that to be a derivative ripoff.

Sadly these features do not do much to highlight Star Citizen as a particularly excellent example of a space game, but since you weren't talking about that I don't suppose you'd care to comment on it.

e: after all, if they *did* set it apart as an excellent space game, then since you had crippled the force of your statement by stating that there are other games which also have these features, you would be claiming that Star Citizen is competing with some very excellent space games... which is true

Noticed earlier that there was some vids relating to SC's character creation thing that doesn't exist. Now that others have actually shown were they are going with a similar thing, I fully expect a ton of CIG branded *it's about to arrive/weeks not months* stuff for what they were apparently convincing people they were working on last year but mysteriously forgot about it until yesterday when it suddenly became the most important thing to do again.

Bleh, the patterns are so easy to spot now it's actually getting to be a chore :D

Gosh, what are the odds they'll call whatever they have almost working 3.0 and shove it out at the end of the year when some other space project releases their 3.0? Like they did last time?

Having a lower number simply doesn't have enough fidelity or subsumption to compete in this marketplace. Bigger numbers = more fidelity.

I'm not someone who believes you're entitled to a refund in the first place. Consumers (in any market, not just SC) are given refunds far more often than they should, in my opinion.

…aside from EVE, ED, Alien Isolation, Mass Effect, Call of Duty, Titanfall, or just good old Unreal. The list goes on. [weird]

Also, please use spoiler tags to reduce the spamminess of your posts — especially when you just repeat the same stuff you already posted just a page or two back.
