Don't know what game you are playing but I find Elite Dangerous fun and immersive.
After all OP that is your own point of view, it doesn't include my own about the game.
When you break down any game it is all the same set of instructions, even games like Mass Effect or GTA V. Go to X location to pick up Y object to deliver it to person A. Along the way get attacked by faction C and try to escape. Deliver goods, get reward and move on to do it all over again just with new wording.
How many fetch and kill quests are in games like World of Warcraft and Everquest? Yet people still play these games and level up new characters each and every month or year. It is all the same though when looked at in black and white. Just that Elite Dangerous is a far bigger game world than any of those I have mentioned.
For me Elite Dangerous is a means to escape into a different lifestyle, something I will never have the chance at doing ever; in fact none of us will. The more realistic the galaxy is the better for me and the more I want to be a part of the game and play it. I am never forced to do the missions to gain money within the game either. There is no exp just my own ability to pilot my ship. Elite Dangerous was never about a heroic protagonist like you have in Mass Effect or the Witcher games, it is not about the massive corporations or alliances like we see in Eve Online either. It is about you as a person and whether you have what it takes to survive in the galaxy on your own.
I know some players though have abused the smuggling and rares in the game and so have vast quantities of money and now finding the game boring and dull, that is their own fault though and not the game. Some even say if you can't make XXX amount of millions per hour then its not worth doing. I say rubbish, if you find it fun then it is always worth doing.
The best escape I get in the game from the norm is to just get a ship with a SRV some cargo room and head out into the unknown and land on planets just to salvage POI that I find and then return to civilized space to sell it. Sometimes I make a huge profit with the exploration data and salvage sometimes I don't.
I think the player made bases are still in the pipeline for development but they are a long way off, same with walking around.
There is still a lot more to add to the game such as atmospheric flight, gas giant cloud cities, dark solar systems that have no sun etc, etc.
The game is a living breathing thing and it does have to grow, but this can't be done over night because you demand it. Also why should Frontier Development listen to just you and your cronies on other forums? Personally I like the direction the game is going in right now and having a whale of a time when I play the game.
I never asked for multicrew or Engineers but I accept them all the same and can see how they can add to the game experience. I probably won't use multi crew at all though, but doesn't mean to say I can't see the benefit to it or say it should be removed because I don't like it.
Exactly this. For me it's about turning of everything I know about my life and jumping into the life of a wanderer of the galaxy. My best moments come from being deep in the black cruising the horizon of some distant planet looking for geysers or fumaroles. In the right spot I can spend hours just staring at the landscapes and imagining I'm right there.
ppl will buy it, play some time util they find it boring and walk away like all my friends did after 50h.
Jeez, 50hrs, that's a lot of time for a really boring game!
- No, you won't save Elite
- No, your ideas aren't original
- Yes, FDev is more qualified to take decisions on how the game development should progress
- Yes, you can quit Elite
- No, you won't find similar experience elsewhere, simply because this game is unique
- No, using CAPITAL letters won't make you sound like an adult
- Yes, there are about three threads like this every day that pop-up and vanish shortly afterwards
Perfect!
Let me just say this, I understand your feelings on this whole thing OP, I do. As an explorer I wish there was more interactiviity for us and the universe, but like others have said, you are just expressing your opinion and I must say that while it is a popular opinion it is not the majority. I think the majority of players are having fun. Some things you want will come in time and it will change things but we must be patient.
Again, why I don't think it's boring, and why i think it is fun is the following, first a bit of my mindest: I'm a person who loves anything and everything to do with astronomy! My whole life has been spent wondering about the adventures and mysteries the universe holds. I love to write and in my writings I gravitate towards the sci-fi and in ED I find the perfect setting to unleash my imagination. Unfortunately, ELITE

angerous requires a great deal of imagination, but don't most games, every game requires the player to suspend disbelief or to forget what they know and step in the shoes of a character to experience the stories. In ELITE, we create our own stories. There is, like in life, an overall story of everything but that is just momentary interruptions into what our lives are really about, us surviving the cruel world. Anyways, starting to forget what I'm saying. Here is why i love elite and find it not boring.
EXPLORATION(Minus the need for more interactivity and tools): I love the unknown, even if it becomes repetitive, it's still the unknown. The thought of nobody coming this way is what keeps me going, or even if someobody has, what might they have missed. And these worlds we have aren't all empty, many have active volcanism and so while on the surface you can run into geysers, fumaroles and organics structures...all interesting and beautiful sights to behold.
Escapism: I can finally live my dream of flying a ship in space! Nothing can beat that feeling.
Those are 2 reasons why i feel it isn't boring. There is no grind for me because I do not care about credits, and I don't care about getting around the galaxy as fast as possible so the time it takes to travel doesn't bother me either. Again, I'd love to have better tools and mechanics but they are comings. Just like biomes, those will come when we get atmospheric worlds, but for now, no non-atmo worlds will give you biomes. Boarding other ships and EVA's, will most likely come as well but not till later down the line. You can SC is doing it now but they haven't even release a full build yet. And you can't give them praise until they do so. You can give them the benefit of the doubt but to claim they are doing things better until the release isn't not correct. if they don't release for another 3 years, or if something major happens and it can't be released at all then that whole comparison is moot.
Also, I too find some hostility in your OP and some replies. You state an opinion and say you speak for a majority of the fanbase....which includes fanbois and then you dictate how you want people to reply and that if they can't reply the way you "Think" is fit, then their thoughts are dismissed. So it's either your way or no way because there is no correct way to view this game then how FD views THEIR game. Anything outside of what FD think is all opinion and we can react to any post how we want. Barring people from their reaction or saying "Fanbois" need not reply is just silly and really a way of saying, if you don't agree, don't reply. Or if you don't at least see your point of view dont' reply.
Anyways, I can agree with your post in so much that ED does need some more mechanics and a little more depth, but even without that I'm still having a blast and find myself happy at what each session might bring.
If this post starts to not make sense I apologize. It's very late and lack of sleep and I wasn't even going to reply anyways but just kept writing.
TL/DR:
OP is claiming his opinion speaks for the majority of the playerbase which is false.
OP has lost enjoyment and instead of realizing this is trying to get people to see his point on why it is a failed game or at least a game with no mechanics and is completely boring and will fail if not fixed.
Elite is supposed to make you feel alone and insignificant. Like the real world at times it can be a grind but within it's universe there are wonderful things for people who are willing to find them and have a little imagination as well.
