Patch Notes Update 2.3 Beta 5 Change Log

Is there a certain reason why star surface textures on arrival has to be screwed about? What's wrong with the 2.2 textures, they're perfectly fine to me (on a GTX 760).

I thought i was the only one. The LOD is screwed up and even up close it looks like a slideshow. Gtx 770 here.

"Bounty Vouchers and Combat Bonds are now awarded to MultiCrew members based on their combat rank" -- Are you serious FDEV?

You.. you have to be kidding right?.

Do you not realize that this was a huge thing for newer players? This is the reason why my friends were going to get back into elite. This was why they liked the game again. We didn't have to worry about like this, not making enough measly credits because between a wing of 3 we got jack . So now you want to nerf it again?

I mean, seriously, do you not listen to us? This was an excellent feature. Not only did it allow newbies to join up with other people, but it released the stress of splitting bounty payouts, that frankly, are anyway.

This is ridiculous FDEV. You just cut a big feature of Multi-crew. I'd like some reasoning why instead of hiding behind that changelog of yours.

Yes, I bet they were enjoying it ! Easy credits ! But it's not playing the whole game is it ?

Many of us were pleading with FD to at least allocate credits on an experience or rank basis to avoid this "oh this is good ... boom boom easy credits ... now about that Anaconda I want to buy"

Could you please revisit this change in the next update?

I can't see how this makes the game more fun for anybody. If a new player wants to earn credits by serving on a crew (instead of by doing missions or cargo runs), why is it so important to slow him down? Does anyone benefit from this change?

Could you please help me understand why you care whether someone plays "the whole game" or not? What difference does it make to you whether a new player makes 100k in an hour or 1M? Either way, I think you would continue to enjoy the game just the same.

Is it a problem because it offends your sense of fair-play? Just throwing that guess out there, I'd really like to hear it in your own words.

Great patch! Balancing MC earnings according to other game activities is obviously the right thing to do, well done FD.

...Take last week's with Steve Kirby (Lead Designer), not having his Modded Ship ready, then Ed not having his backup Ship in the right System ("ah use the magical tools in the background"), then having chosen Python and thus realizing after outfitting it that "oh it doesn't have an SLF" plus non informed about "oh you need Turrets for Gunner" - 15mins wasted...

How FD managed to create (and evolve) one of the greatest games of this decade is beyond me sometimes. It feels like amateur night sometimes. :)

They do know how to embarrass themselves on a regular basis. You have to give them credit for that.

Aaand this weeks whining topic award goes tooo Multicrew credit balance. Here wo go again bois. Jeeesus Massive Surge Christ.

Yeah, it looks like this one is gonna be fun to watch.

I especially like the posts claiming it's not about credits, it's about having fun.

Like earning credits isn't fun.

Playing the game is only half the entertainment. Around beta, maybe even a bit less.

Pretty please in the future could we have access to srv and fighters for the helm (and npc pilot would take the helm as normal)

And the ability to delegate helm control would be nice.

Might be to much of a stretch to allow holome for crew to use srvs? Could be fun tho

Yet this whole "why are we here again?" vibe might be a clever PR stunt, creating a more emotional human attachment to the company. They could just be really good actors.

I am Agree with the game being hard to earn money, i don't want to see 50.000 anaconda in open mod, driven by 1 month player.
All the crying is from teenager player who want their big ship without playing the game.

Thanks for the great patch, which implemented a forum suggestion (how dare they to listen?).
MC income based on rank sounds sensible. Maybe a worthwhile idea for other game mechanics as well? It's a shame that the "early game" almost ceased to exist! I had so much fun in my useful Hauler those days ... why bother nowadays?

Are we now close to the live version? I think, I am ready to play now. :)

Hard to earn money? What universe are you living in?

Yeah, be nice to get some detail on this because it sounds like a garbage idea, to be frank.

i disagree..... imo its a shame that practically everything is open to everyone now with no real advantage to ranking up.

Personally i FAR preferred it when missions were only offered to you at an appropriate rank...... paying a harmless pilot less than an elite one makes sense to me when they are working as a team.

its a bit like i was a senior computer biologist. i got a lower salary than my line manager who was a level above me, despite our jobs being essentially similar on day to day basis. Gotta have somethign to strive for imo

can rep you again.
Any player who thinks money is anything other than stupidly easy to come by - even without exploits - seriously has no clue how FD wanted the money balanced back at launch.

that said...... in the interests of balance... has this been done to wings as well or is that still full split? i ask because i CAN see why some may feel compelled to use wings rather than MC if not.

IMO the way FD should be increasing the profits to wings and MC is not by silly magic bounty boosts, but by having super hard areas where only those in a wing would dare go, full of danger and high paying ships, and combine that with missions to go to those places and clear them out (once cleared out return, hand in mission which also pays well, then get another mission to go somewhere else) - and split mission reward pay too.

ie
rather than sitting farming in a res waiting for ships to come to you, you pick up a mission for 10 mil credits - go to X settlement on a planet / in an asteroid belt and clear out the pirates which have infested the area.... the local security are wiped out and so its up to you.

you get there and there is a wing of 4-8 mixes of condas, vultures, FGS or what ever (exact level based on the difficulty / pay of the mission) go therre kill them, go back split the 1 - 2mil bounty AND the 10 mil mission credits, then take another mission. Such a mission would take 30mins max, no magic bounty stacking needed

this would be way more profitable than farming bounties and would feel more "connected" to the game universe imo.

At now a one-day player can buy Anaconda through 17 draconis.

Maybe it isn't all about the money? Maybe this game isn't ALL about how fast anyone, or group of anyone's actually makes money? Having 25 billion bucks doesn't make you any happier in the game? So you can buy a truck load of Sh*t and so what? Then you can find something else to complain about? Like your Holo-me suits don't come in enough covers or they don't do a Versace one? or one in Man U colours? maybe its a good game with good playability or maybe its just challenging or maybe its just a bit of fun - wait it might even be a GAME?

relax peeps...Its not even an expensive game to buy by comparison so why not just try and enjoy it, and if you can't then go play something else...no-one will stop you.

Bounty Vouchers and Combat Bonds are now awarded to MultiCrew members based on their combat rank???

Why?

If someone kills a ship with a bounty solo (ie. on their own), the payout is not modified based on rank? A mostly harmless player could take out a Master/Elite NPC and earn a sizable reward, how come this reduction is now applied in MultiCrew?

I dont see this is an exploit (each MC gets the same bounty) more an incentive to team up, the extra pips are nice but not game changing enough to warant people sacrificing thir gaming session to go into MC?

Also top tip if you are implementing a game mechanic, start at the worse benefit level and then Buff it, you will get a better reception and probably people accepting a reward that isn't too astronomic. Give them the best reward and then nerf it you will get pages of vitriol and bad blood because you have shown that reward level is available.
