This game desperately needs Player Trading NON pay cosmetics and a TRADE HUB.

I can't agree.

Paid cosmetics are are an important income stream for FD that help to pay for continued development. I'd hate to see FD canabalise that income and devote less resources to the game.

We already have free cosmetics awarded for in game actions in the form of Decals. Particpation in the Cannon CG awards a Cannon cosmetic. Distant Worlds paticipants got theirs. I have some kicking about from the Dangerous Games.

To make money from free cosmetics would require a system like Valve uses in CS:GO where cosmetics are restricted and trading takes place out of game and with the developer taking their cut from the transactions.

As for bringing players together. We have constant hotspots at Engineers' bases, other popular locations like Lave, Erevate etc. and roving weekly hotspots at CGs. Do we really need more?

Trading between players does happen on a small scale and is tolerated. Search and you will find players and groups who can supply you with the commodities you want in exchange for other high value commodities. It's a barter system. There is enough friction that trading between players is restricted to special circumstances and some role playing. It is not an efficient way of making credits. For trading to be more widespread you need to use currency, which means credit transfers between players. That becomes a headache to manage and is probably not the kind of game FD wants to make.

So... interesting ideas. But they would require radical changes to revenue generation and player interactions. I hope FD stick to simpler gameplay related stuff like alien invasions, atmospheric landings and space legs.

So what would happen then once you get players walking around they would meet someplace. I mean Sure Do away with Trading but we NEED someplace to meet. And if there are already gold farmers then I don't see how it would conflate the issue by adding content. I have only ever met players one time in the game via the forum or with a comunity goal that was close to me. Otherise I generally ignore it and get bored after grinding. We need a hub for player interaction. Content would easily be fixed if they added characters worth visiting and written stories and missions. Rather then procedurally generated junk.

How would that ruin the game? There should only be a Player Run economy. EVE pulls it off well. And that new MMO ALBION online.

How do you get players to MEET for multi crew with out a main hub? I mean constantly being told there is no content. A Hub would fx that

They don't have to be in the same physical space for MC. A hub won't 'fix' that, because they connect via telepresence.

ED isn't an MMO, it's a single player game that just happens (on occasion) to have random other players appear...

I Agree with you, but basically you are wrong, this game is not a MMO. We have a coop mode game but not MASSIVE since the p2p instance only allow a few commmanders in the same instance.

That dudes that complain about possible credit sellers are losers that can't win if the game have mechanics like this, some people (traders for exemple) will can put huge bountys in so they want the thinks stay like are now: a Single player game with no more than a coop. (So they can enjoy the lack of punishment)

We have to admit, some people have the abilitys to make trade, others have skills in combat - Bring player trade will allow to people wire anothers (more skilled combat commander) to earn money doing escort, or even doing assasination contracts.

Anothers have time and don't bother to run after enguinnering, so WHY we can't trade enguinered modules???

Btw, i'ts a waste of time, this game will never change too much in this way, only maybe if the netcode change and i doubt they do that.

This game desperately needs Player Trading NON pay cosmetics and a TRADE HUB. Really every MMO I have ever seen relies on this simple formula of bringing players togeather. If there was a trade hub where players HAD to go to trade. And NPC missions. Etc other then procedurally generated crap. It would Fix all the talks about Wide as an Ocean Shallow as a puddle.

Agreed. And allow us to give credits to other players. Do people realize how much emergent content would appear if we could do this? It would be incredible.

Weird. Because it keeps saying it is in all the marketing. Maybe it should start acting like one.

yeah, i don't know who put tags, if are frontier or steam, but this info are wrong.

It's the developer that decides on those tags I belive. I agree, I wouldn't call Elite an MMO, but they've chosen to market it as one so it's to be expected that people will buy it expecting an MMO-ey experience and make suggestions based on such marketing.

It's got the MMO tag on Steam though

I'm not disputing that, but I've played ED for quite some time and it's certainly no MMO...no matter how misleading the advertising is :)

Yeah, I agree with you. I'll quote a comment from the previous page in which I left my toughts:

I doubt that would happen. Especially if they did it Correctly.

Yeah, right. There is no "correct" way to do it where it won't happen. Let me see those glasses for a sec... Analyzing lens transmittance...

I personally would like to be able to buy from black markets and maybe expand on certain salvaged items like weapons and modules, maybe already engineered. Granted the price would reflect the risk and demand. The items may even trigger a wanted status if scanned but with a one week cool down period. And yes an upgraded crime and punishment system is near the top of the list!

The usual false marketing then.

I have purchased the ED by steam have hope to play a MMO game...

then much time after this i buy a corvette with sure im buying a "Small warship" - So i realize that false maketing are in-game too =)

About the MMO part i don't mind too much, i belive they will need ALOT of time to make this game a real MMO, so, i'ts OKAY.
But the corvette really freaks me out... (I have every single skin avaliable in the store for she, bcause she is pretty and i whant to help this game develop process) but she need some attention, actually is the worse combat ship in the game, i still prefer my vulture or my fdl to combat.

I can think of so much more that the game NEEDS than these.

Like Factions being affiliated to Powers (so if pledged to a Power, you can do missions for affiliated Factions to gain Merits & assist with control of the system by said Power). The ability to call in Favours with Engineers, Factions, Powers & Super Powers. Material & Data Brokerages. A meaningful Crime & Punishment system that allows your commander to gain some Notoriety, even after the Bounties have expired. A meaningful Military Career system.

Then why is it no listed as Space Sim. MMO implies quests and content.

I think with the trade implementation will open a door to more efective Powerplay and guild (player factions) battles(Like a battle for a system that have a trade hub to earn the right to earn the taxes charged in trades made in that system), right now all this are a mess (a bunch of minor games inside a game) - that don't connect eachother.

MMO = Massive Multiplayer Online (You can make a game with no quest and widouth any content, if a massive number of players can play together i'ts a mmo) - The ED concept (Instances) make the game fill the "Coop" requirement, but not mmo.
