The Star Citizen Thread v5

Sorry. I backed SC at the kickstarter stage because I WAS interested in Squadron 42. That's what Star Citizen was in those days. Yes, that's why they got all that 6Mill USD in the first stage before it went stupid.

No, I don't really care about the PU. I certainly don't want the FPS module. I don't want fishtanks.

Let's just see some decent planets, atmospheric entry and space combat. Then focus on the fluff.

Oh and let's just start with a decent flight model shall we?

I also backed the game solely because of Squadron 42, I really couldn't care less about the MMO side of it. Kind of dreading what it might have turned into now though.

Everything is OK. They just need to increase the tickrate.

Or maybe, just maybe, they don't have a clue how prediction and server-side confirmation works. But not to worry. They'll "invent" that in due time. After all, infinite computing power and all that.

So you are in those 15 %, I am quite sure that almost all backers who spend 100 $ or more are MMO players and do not care about SQ42...I doubt that you can even use those "premium" ships in SQ42..

who cares.
15% is referred to the ones that voted, not the backers. Most of the original backers (including me) have backed for SQ42. In the early days the MMO was not considered.

We are so fortunate to have networking experts commenting on that video and explaining why torpedoes don't work:

Everything is OK. They just need to increase the tickrate.

…sooooo… what tick rate is the server working on to not even trigger it after dry-humping the target ship for 5 seconds? :p

Wow, those torpedoes are sure worth using:

Much fidelity.

"We from Roberts Space Industries are proud to show you our newest weapon type. Ladies and Gentlemen i present you the Hugpedo! Its cutting edge tracking is able to hinder the manuverability of any ship by sticking close and interfering with any correction the target tries to do! Not only that the surface area of the Hugpedo is big enough to stick message on it so you really can give those pirates what they deserve!
Its mass is so low that it shouldnt cause any damage to the target itself, which makes it the perfect weapon for attempts to hinder but keeping the target overall unharmed!"

Kickstarter stage was still about SC. You can't say that the initial 6 million was for SQ42 when SC was part of the original pitch, and all ships being purchased were for SC.

Thought I'd post this from PC Gamer for lulz:

Star Citizen (20XX?)

No, it’s not out yet. It doesn’t matter. Chris Roberts’ play to create the ultimate space game already qualifies. Elite style action combined with a dedicated, AAA Wing Commander-style campaign starring Mark Hamill. First person action aboard ships. Deep space exploration. A persistent universe allowing for company, or the solitude of the stars. A crowd-funded budget of $117,259,371 and counting, with players happily putting down real money for in-game ships and unlocking features like pets and modular ship designs and new AI characters to scatter around on planetside environments. If it’s not the greatest game ever, expect literal, physical riots.

Yeah I know, its from 2016.

Have a look at the original kickstarter. This is a completely different "Game" than we have now. Ok, I get your point, but the "MMO" type thing there wasn't what I was interested in.

Real quick, Star Citizen is:

A rich universe focused on epic space adventure, trading and dogfighting in first person.
Single Player – Offline or Online(Drop in / Drop out co-op play)
Persistent Universe (hosted by US)
Mod-able multiplayer (hosted by YOU)
No Subscriptions
No Pay to Win

Lol really?

Ok where to start - offline Singleplayer?????

Quote: "Squadron 42 - A Wing Commander style single player mode, playable OFFLINE if you want"

Even more lulz on the page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cig/star-citizen/faqs

Oh it is defiantly a different game. The original pitch had a chance of being made.

Persistent Universe (hosted by US)
Mod-able multiplayer (hosted by YOU)

With all the ships being purchased only usable in that PU was what I was getting at.

It also says no Subscription, and CIG added one right away, and it is massively P2W even in its "alpha".

Sure people backed for SQ42, but every ship sale has been about SC, the only reason that CIG have 150 million (assuming they do) is because of P2W ship sales for SC. But to be fair, none of the backers are winning with this one.

CIG's E3 schedule revealed!

01. 3.0 is going to be awesome!
02. 3.0 is delayed slightly as quality is our main concern, as it is yours!
03. Look! New ships!
04. We're switching Star Marine to the id Tech 6 engine!
05. The switch will take three days!
06. Look! New ships!
07. You all love Star Kitten! Now, meet Star Bunny!
08. Volumetric fog is overrated and probably doesn't exist out in space!
09. Look! New ships!
10. Star Kitten vs. Star Bunny and what actually went down at Star Puppy's party!
11. Networking instances limitations: Playing with others is overrated!
12. Moving cargo around is actually fun and teaches us important things about weight distribution!
13. Look! Beds for your ships with LTI to cover against those hard-to-remove stains! Available in-store now!

Hehehe. Is 13 a result of 10? Blame it on Star Puppy.
