Alien ship on ground at barnacle spotted!!!

Within a second, the refuelling has lasted 52 to 53 seconds in two videos, so the disruption of the beam when the ship struck it is a coincidence (probably) ... an amazing coincidence.

Which would make this a cut-scene, yes .... I admit it ...... [yesnod]

.... but there is still a puff of smoke as the ship enters the beam :x

It's a scripted manouver in the case of the flower ship. As players are disabled, it will play almost.the same way every time.

It's not a cut-scene though. A cut-scene is a video.

It's a Cutscene. No interaction.

I'm sure this is absolutely definitely Frontier's long term plan for the aliens ... (ummmm, no I don't)

Suggest remembering this period of calm, fondly when our eyeballs are being melted by hyperdictor death rays .. though I don't want to prejudge of course. Just because it's an armour plated alien killing machine, doesn't mean it's a bad person.

Well, if Cutscene 1, Cutscene 2 and now Cutscene 3 are any guide : nothing.

It's a Cutscene. No interaction. Just grab popcorn or use the opportunity to go AFK for a short while.
If Frontier decides to wipe you (or anyone else) out, it'll simply happen. Easy as that and you don't even have to do anything ;)

Hence, it's "Good news everyone! They're just passive NPCs doing their thing. No Action Required, no harm done. Now, carry on... We have a delivery to make."

I can bet any rl money that it won't stay that way forever.

My hopes for 2.4:

"Cue scene: ship flying in orbital cruise. A mysterious shadow blankets the ship, the Cmdr looks up to see the familiar flower ship overhead. The HUD flickers, as it always does.. The Cmdr Alt-Tabs to their browser of choice to launch a tired tirade against Frontier's endless stream of non-interactive cut-scenes. They return to the game... just in time to see the last few % points of hull being whittled down. He floors the throttle, but too late...

...the last thing he sees before the dreaded re-buy screen, is a short message from the on-board message translator "This ain't no *ing cutscene"

I do not follow the alien story very much, but why does everyone think that these flower ships are thargoids? I have not seen any official confirmation that these are thargoids, it could be just any other alien race, completely unrelated to thargoids from previous ED games.

I'll leave this here. We muted mics, cams, etc. for the stream so you can see it: https://clips.twitch.tv/GiantConcernedKiwiBrainSlug Spoilers if you watch the vid, fair warning.

Many have placed that bet - and lost.

But V2.4 can indeed change all that. And if it doesn't, V2.4.1 just might. Or V2.4.2. Or V3.0. Or V3.1. You know the drill ;)

PS.
That's the good thing about the Alien Story being narrated at 1 page per year in Patent Pending Femto-Cam Hyper-Slo-Motion speed.
If anything, nothing is ever in a hurry. Based on that speed alone, any hostile Alien Ships would take at least 40+ hours just to deploy hardpoints :D

Love it ! +1 :D

Yes, it doesn't have to be Thargoid .... and personally, I hope it isn't .... I would prefer enemy aliens to arrive when the game is rounder and deeper and we can land on (attack?) atmospheric planets etc.

As much as I'm excited by the prospect of aliens in ED, one cut-scene released in January and another in June is hardly "content". They really know how to string along the community though......
This will keep everybody excited and create buzz until the next crumb they release in another 3 months..... sheesh.

This is VERY cool, almost getting me interested in the game again, FD do THIS sort of thing but MORE.

No it does not.

Yes it does, sound is vibrations in air, they happen even if there is no ear drum (or whatever) to pick up the vibrations. It's like saying if a stone drops in water and no-one is there to see it does it make a splash and ripples? Of course it does.

it's nice that we find out these little scenes that do make a break from the norm, I would accelerate the scenes to make more of a build up to be honest as at present the entire narative is playing out like a slow movie that everyone is falling asleep in the middle of and we all will miss the ending.

So aliens are showing up all over the place now?

Except wherever I go apparently. Lol

If there's a full scale invasion, just stick behind me. Seems I have some alien repellent on my ship or something.
S'spose it helps if I actually play the game though.

But alas, all the good stuff happens when I don't, so off to MechWarrior Online I go, so the story can progress for the rest of you.
Remember my sacrifice, friends!

:p

I'm gonna sneak back while FD think I'm not looking! Shhhhh!

Maybe hyperdiction isn't considered an unfriendly action, it's just how they grab each other's attention when they want a chat. Also, you might find that their FSD drives are more advanced than ours, and don't shut down for 20 minutes when you sneeze near them.

They hyperspace just like human capital ships do... hmmm.

What the hell?!?!

I've gone on holiday by mistake.

Can people please stop seeing amazing new things until I get back please!

How does one go on holiday "by mistake"?

"I'm just nipping down the shops, honey!"
"Ok, see you in a minute"

*Two hours later*
*Ring ring*
"Where the hell are you?!"
"I, errr, accidentally boarded a ferry to France, see you I two weeks honey!"
