As long as Goon panic seems to be going strong may as well inform

Just because a goon played EVE doesn't mean we are evil. We are just misunderstood.

Come on people, you do not have much to worry about.

The EVE goons have all gotten older and are vested to heavily in EVE to leave. Goons coming to E:D are a new breed of happy, peace loving npc shooting goonies that just want to make friends and fly space ships.

Why can't we just be friends? ;)

Me too.... so I don't get why you think we're on opposite sides.
Does not mean I do not trust you...just prefer to keep a working relationship..

He means warning about goons is panic apparently. That isn't panic Noir. Just keeping the forum informed as to what is and will be happening.

I'm not afraid of them, I don't think anyone is. Just damned wary.
All you and the loudest anti-goon peeps here are doing is creating an environment ripe for a witch hunt.

I don't believe so.

Players, wether they are goons or not, are all equally welcome.

It's obnoxious behaviour that isn't welcome.

SA itself has many posts about how we are all going to get gooned at release, many of them like it so far, and many more would sign up but are not financially able.

If they play nice, then all is well.

The only obnoxious behaviour at the moment is people labeling random people goons because they mention a things that evoke goon-qualities based on their sense of what a "goon" is. This is the very definition of a witch hunt.

Your definition perhaps, but I'll leave it for the mods to decide.

The reason so many people get worked up about it is that certain groups are determined to give every other player every reason to not bother playing.

That is even more of a witch hunt, and there is simply no need for it.

People get worked up about it because a small number of people on a witch hunt giving Goonswarm significantly more air time than they've earned in this game.

People need to stop.... it's all stupid and making the community look silly.

It's not just about one group. It is any and all groups of whichever name, acting in unpleasant ways.

It really is as simple as that.

And running around yelling goons at every turn isn't going to stop groups from doing what they want within the rules of the game. It only has the potential from making new forum members less likely to participate on the forums.

I disagree with RaynMaykr about many things. However, we really shouldn't be calling random people goons (or any other label or name) who don't agree with us. I am firmly in the anti-goon anti-griefer camp. I do feel that the community must take steps to protect ourselves from certain types of metagaming. Some people will believe what they believe whether it's pro guild or anti guild, pro PvP or whatever. And that will have nothing to do with being a goon or not.

Some people will be making, will have made or will make proposals based on a pro-goon agenda or a pro-goonlike agenda.

And there's no way to tell the difference between the two. I suggest we keep our agendas. And we work on our principles and our vision of the game and take care of the community the best we can. We argue the points. Not the people.

Take care.
Jeff.

On this we can agree. If people are looking for goons they'll find goons everywhere. It is a witch hunt mentality that should be avoided at all costs.

People will come in here wanting PVP, player owned stations (read:player housing), conquerable areas of space, or other similar things. This does not make them a goon. There are other examples of games besides eve that have the equivalent of these things. And it's understandable why they believe these things exist. Just looking at the descriptions Frontier has on their new website one can see why those things crossed their minds.

Labeling them as goons for their opinions or even because they played EVE IS a witch hunt. And regardless of peoples views on a topic... They should make sure there are no witch hunts.

There was a witch hunt? Drats, i must have missed it.

I mean...I read that one thread about avoiding group control, but that is pretty much the only one ive seen.

+1 because peace is nice.

I have to admit, i sometimes dislike people because of their opinions, but that's quite human. I don't say that's OK ;)
What i try not to do is, putting them into labeled boxes.
I won't fit in any box you could think of...unless it's labeled "Jorlin" and i'm alone in there.
I don't have any "team spirit" and i dislike people crowding together against each other just because "supporting the same team", "share one religion" or anything else someone could think of to "feel better than the others".

The forums have to be some ground to get along with each other.
Despite all different opinions, we share the interest in ED.
This doesn't make us "friends"...but we should restrict fighting and critcism to a constructive level.

Well, my two carebear cents ;)
