Elite: Dangerous Mega Survey Results

Hopefully Frontier do a survey similar to this; as they did with that Instant/Delayed ship transfer poll.
Just log into the website, do the survey - done and dusted.
Use that information to improve the game.
Publish the results when it's done.

Frontier don't need to do a poll to find out which mode is being used most. ;)

Indeed it is. However, the entire argument stems from this:

When counting votes, stating that something has the majority automatically infers that one group received more than half of the votes. That what majority means in the context of a vote (it doesn't matter how many votes options there are).

I suspect this 12 page argument, stems from each person's interpretation of Driver's post.
From my perspective, Driver is incorrect. The majority have not voted for Open Play.

So it's all Drivers fault. :p
No it doesn't. When someone declares a ward during an election, they can and will state "Labour has a majority of 9000. Labour retains the ward". Majority never has automatically meant over half even in voting situations.

Even then, we're talking about a common usage here seeing as this seems pretty damn informal, and majority is correct within those terms as well.

The trouble with surveys that target particular groups is that they tend to support the opinions of the group(s) being targeted in the first place.

FDEV should listen to what there own stats are telling them about player habits.

Interesting results and for me it proves that different peoples use different platforms when communicating.

Just as example:
In survey majority who took part are between 21-40 years old (total 68%) and biggest single age group was 21-30 with 37%
In poll run by here in forums majority (total 69%) was 31-50 and biggest 31-40 with 35,4% (41-50 34,5%).
Of course we need to remember that poll in here was started at 2013 so statistic might have changed but for it clearly shows that Reddit is more popular with younger commanders while older people seems to be in here.

Overall it just shows how big difference there can be in result based on the people taking part.

I've already expressed my opinion on the matter, across several pages. With respect, I really don't want to go over it again.

You said Solo and PG are a majority. They aren't because they aren't connected. Otherwise Open and PG would be a majority or Open and Solo... So, which one is it?

Since both of them are not voting Open (and since they don't they do have a connection), they count to the opposition; meaning, the opposition has a Majority. This, of course, in line with what has been discussed already.

Right .. are we all on the same page now... can we get back to the actual thread?

.. Or has someone else got something we can argue over? :D

Ummm... Yes, Mr. Russell... First.. Thanks to you and Mr. YakSick for the entertaining definition of Majority... Well done [squeeeee]

As a rep from the Minority, we would like to know:
Between Mr. Russell and Mr. YakSick, who would win in a 1v1 battle played in Solo?

And a follow up question:
If you had to Classify Open/Solo/Private in terms I can understand...... Which one is Larry, which one is Curly, and which one is Moe?

Whats solo? I don't actually play the game...

OP said in the survey notes that at the time of creation of the poll, he forgot the mac users.

As a Mac user I certainly feel valued and respected...

So much so, I had to buy a windows PC in order to further support FD.

:(

Hardly surprising that we were forgotten by the surveyor, We'd previously been forgotten by FD

Hello Commanders,

I have just released the results of the Elite: Dangerous Mega Survey. You can find all the links and my comments here: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/6stz53/elite_dangerous_mega_survey_results/

Enjoy!

Excellent work +1

Don't forget to put the survey link in the suggestion thread. It is something FD may consider when shaping ED. Suggested to FD a while ago that it conduct player polls to get meaningful data about the way players use the game. You've done the work for them! :)
