Elite: Dangerous Role Playing Game

Thanks to everyone involved in getting the podcasts recorded and produced into their final form - that must have been a lot of work! I really enjoyed all of the episodes, as did everyone taking part, it sounded like! That's probably the best thing that you can say about any tabletop rpg: that everyone had a blast playing it.
.
Looking forward to the release and reading more about some of the things you can go into more details in with a rulebook than a game, from historical information (I have read Drew's lore guides but I imagine there's so much more to say, e.g. on hyperdrives - could you have an old ship running a 'type 2b' hyperdrive out in the black and would a modern wake scanner make any sense of its hyperspace cloud?) to some ships that aren't in the game yet, like the Panther Clipper, to things that might not make it into the game, like the Krait (and I seem to recall seeing a Mamba Mk2 mentioned in connection with one of the supplements :) ) and other surface vehicles. It wouldn't surprise me if the work that's been done on this provides some inspiration to FD for when they come to implement new content and gameplay. o7

I totally agree, I would love to see some of this continuity from earlier games addressed in the RPG. Unfortunately I fear that a lot of what we hope for will not be possible in what will be provided from the Kickstarter, because this appears to also not be allowed in Elite Encounters.

:D Your first character lasted long enough for you to get emotionally attached to them? Well done! My memories of my early days of RPGing mainly involve me rolling new characters! Some days were like being an extra in Total Recall...

He was a 1st ed AD&D thief. I still have the character sheet somewhere, I came across them when I was clearing out some stuff last winter.

Lave Radio Plays the Elite Dangerous RPG – Incident at Baijangu, Episode 1

As many already know LaveCon 2017 is being sponsored by EDRPG. Working with our friends at Lave Radio they thought it would be fun to play an adventure and present it to you as a podcast. This particular story plays over three episodes and will end with a special finale episode at Lavecon 2017.

In episode one of INCIDENT AT BAIJANGU, Oliver Hulme – Lead Writer for EDRPG – is the Games Master in an adventure that takes the crew of the orange Sidewinder from an Imperial Business office in Leesti to a Mining Outpost in Baijangu. Cmdrs Psykokow, Eid LeWeise, Elias Thane and 2nd Tech Fozza have been hired for a very specific task. What will they find?

Wow, thanks for this! Havent been following this thread for a while, but NOW i really cant wait to get playing the game myself.. :p

It was good to hear the interview with Jon and Oliver on the latest Pixel Bandits' podcast ( http://pixelbandits.org/pbp/ ) and I'm looking forward very much to getting my hands on the Core Manual in due course. I have written several adventures over the last few weeks based on the Lave Radio podcasts, 'The Worst Intentions' and sneak peeks from the edrpg website ( https://www.edrpg.co.uk/blog ) and once I've balanced them in light of the final information on release I hope to get a couple of games going. I'm not going to be able to go to the Frontier Expo but hopefully you will have some copies of the Core Manual there to show to people and attract a few new players. o7

Can't listen to the podcast right now, what did they say regarding release?
This is discussed at around 38 minutes on the podcast. IIRC it is estimated to take four weeks from the start of printing (which should have been Monday but it appears from the conversation that the interview was recorded on Sunday so I don't know if this happened on time) to having the books in the warehouse ready for distribution. It sounds like there is also a one week margin of error in that estimate, so there is no firm release date as yet. Hopefully it will be done in time for the Frontier Expo.
.
It was also mentioned that the edrpg website may be getting revamped soon, so I would recommend checking there for the latest news and updates. It is also the best place to go for the sneak peeks of artwork and mechanics. e.g. when asked about the his favourite piece of art from the Core Manual, Oliver mentioned a piece showing a Coriolis station in incredible detail which, from his description, would appear to be the piece previewed in the June 29th update on the official blog.

Eagerly Awaiting Release

My understanding is we should be seeing release of EDRPG some time this month (September)! Does anyone know a more exact date?

To answer my own question, a recent PixelBandits podcast talked with the dev team. They're saying we should have EDRPG in our hands probably by the first week in October! W00t!

I had missed the September date, and thought we were still months away when I got the email today

Excellent news!

Well done!

Oops - I am a backer for this project but somehow I never realised that I had to update pledge manager app with my address and suchlike - I have only just done it now.

The EDRPG website ( https://www.edrpg.co.uk/ ) now has the .pdf of the Core Book available for purchase!
I'm not sure how to download it, as someone who pre-ordered - I logged in to my Pledge Manager account and there was only the receipt there, no download link. It's all new, though, so maybe it will appear this evening...
Congratulations to everyone at Spidermind Games on getting this game produced and thanks to Frontier for having a great game to base it on!

There is a problem with Pledge Manager at the moment, I am afraid. We have messaged all of our backers on how to download a copy and will be working through our pre-order customers to send them an update on how to go about getting their own copy. You will get an update sometime tonight. Sorry for the slight delay.

-UPDATE-

All emails sent, so do give me a shout if you still haven't got your instructions how to get your copy.

Received my email and got the pdf. Had a quick skim earlier tonight and it looks good.

Congrats on getting it out.

I am a backer and I haven't received anything. That said, I was very late updating my details into the pledge manager as I must have missed earlier emails.

I got my email, registered with the store, downloaded (like the Dropbox link too), it looks great! I think the Krait's a bit overbuffed (in previous games is wasn't really anything but cannon-fodder) but that does make it live up to its looks a bit more!

Great work team :)
