So what is your source for SC? Who created this project? Who is running it? Am I missing something here? The project goes where the Project Lead takes it to. Without CR nothing goes. If CR says no to E Sports there is no E Sports. If you know a higher ranked dude leading this project let me know.

This isn't true. Saying a game IS an e-sport doesn't make it a popular or very competitive one. Saying it ISN'T an e-sport doesn't keep it from being one. Once a game is out, all you need is a community that wants to play it competitively. Counter-strike was never designed as an e-sport, but it had a huge competitive circuit. I played on teams in both CAL and OGL back in the day of 1.5 and 1.6; there were tons of people playing it. I personally think a developer saying "this is now an e-sport" is a little presumptive. It should be an outside body that decides if it is or not. Also, nothing can actually be an e-sport until it exists. Maybe in a couple years it will be an e-sport, if it is good enough.

Glad CR picked that red/white skin for the M50 after all. It looks gorgeous!! :)

Also, a little personal report about 12.5. I cannot play multi yet due to citizen number, but by playing vandul swarm I felt a number of good updates to the build. :)

1. My 300i seems to move around a little better now with my T16000.
2. More sounds are in, its getting better.
3. I think that the AI is a little more intelligent now, might be a placebo effect though.

It would be better if you could choose the skin in game. But I think if there are few different skinned in same PvP instance the texture load get to high.
Also ifbthebkeep adding much more spacecraft.

I have a 4GB card.
Got some room for diversity.

I think that the plan is to be able to buy different skins ingame with UEC. No reason why it would provide a problem in instancing btw, the skin can be an overlay on the texture. Both ED and SC use PBR textures, so changing the hues and applying skin overlays is actually not that expensive as having to load more textures via the old methods. ;)

Thanks for your input. But even within the SC community which has 510.000 registered members do you think it would work?

I do, but not on the scale of the likes of CoD or DOTA - as they have many millions of fans, and a relatively small percentage of those play e-sports competitively.

Certainly, Arena Commander is already a competitive PvP multi-player game (in it's architecture), so the foundations are in place in that respect, and I fully expect there to be proper competitions sponsored by CIG in the future.

Can they please fix the controls first though.... :D

What I meant wasn't that if CR wanted it became an E Sport globally I was talking about the development of SC E sport content being dependant on the project leader. Because he is in charge of the ship. If the world picks it up or not is a different matter.

Had a go at the new build this morning for an hour or so.

The controls appear to be marginally improved, although yaw is still waaay too fast.

Sadly, the actually difficulty in the game is still not the enemies; It's fighting to stop your ship leaping and wobbling around like a hyperactive children's TV presenter.

From an aesthetic point of view I noticed that all the asteroids in the maps are completely static, which is really unrealistic. Is this a change, or has it always been that way and I've just not noticed?

asteroids have always been static - they are just cryengine objects placed on the map.

Here is a 4K gallery for the new M50. https://imgur.com/a/oyCr9#0

Has a cashgrab feel for sure.

This is a gif comparing the M50 and Origin 300i sizes. http://www.gfycat.com/YellowishBossyIberiannase#

I'd rather see a 4k gallery of a patch with at least a full page of fixes instead of the latest hangar-bound ship they're churning out to keep the gravy train going.

Seeing as how the ship has failed to make a dent on the fundraising chart with hourly profit plummeting after a day, I'd say I'm not the only one who wants to see some substance over glorified static crytek assets.

If we are doing Crowdfunding estimates for August I go for 3 million dollars.

If we are doing patch estimates for August I go with zero.

Thanks for missing the point and proving that you're more interested in vicariously living through CIG's crowdfunding success than caring about the shambles that AC is currently in. And good thing for CIG that there's a lot like you out there.

woa, I really hadn't understood just how tiny this thing really is. I like it even more now, Stefano Tsai indeed delivers! :D

Trying to imagine now what a Xian dedicated racer would look like...

The size of the m50 is why I call on CIG's ships, the 300i and the M50 have the same main thruster size, and yet the 300i's thruster is the almost the size of the m50. How exactly do they have thrusters with equal power? The single size 3 thruster on the 300i is larger than two size 3 thruster on the m50.

Edit: Before you say, different technology or something to that effect, both the M50 and the 300i are made by the same company.

One is a racer

M50: Factory Engine 2x Hammer Propulsion HM 4.3 (Mass (empty) 12,210 Kg)

300i: Factory Engine 1x Hammer Propulsion HM 5.3 (Mass (empty) 20,085 Kg)
