PvP My experience with the PvP hub - a shout out and kudos

I love this new AA

Edit: BTW Jason I've just reported you for noncompliance with the Christmas spirit. What the is that vid, m8? I'm so sad I'm gonna drink again. Didn't even recover from last night yet. You're cruel

I think you're going to need some proof about me ever stating anywhere for any PG that it's ok to disrespect the group's rules. See, this is what I mean by trolling, Bob. You just make ugly stuff up and throw it out there in an effort to derail the thread, because you're blinded by your hatred of all things PvP to the point where you even disrespect AA's own subject matter.

On topic, when I read the OP, my thoughts were that it was pretty cool to see such a well known group PvE player as Agony joining in on some fun educational activities with the PvP community, to the point where he (you are a dude, right Agony Aunt?) felt motivated to give a positive shout out to the club. Good to see IMO.

Jason I've told you umpteen times that I like PVP, I know it either doesn't fit your preconceptions or you just ignore it but anyway here we go again :

Stigbob likes PVP.
PVP is something Stigbob likes.
I Stigbob enjoy PVP.
I like PVP and I'm Stigbob

There may be a test, good luck.

I like the sound of a PVP hub, I've suggested you lot get organised and start one repeatedly rather than berate other players all over the forum. Except here we are where Herbrand is persona non grata for suggesting clogging on cheats/griefers and yet 5-1 gets a free pass. Then you've got people who've infiltrated Mobius harping on about the importance of rules.

Ask for a bit of clarity "GAAAH TROLL, GET OUT OF MY SAFESPACE".

Who here that's "harping on about rules" has invaded Mobius?

You know ... if you read between the lines, I do get the distinct impression Stigbob likes PvP.

I like PvP as well. Just not as a participant. On the other hand, I really hate PvP. Doesn't help now does it? :)

Nuance, I like to see players involved in a test of skills. Since I do not own those skills, for me it's a spectators sport.

I do not like to see players playing for the sole reason of ruining other players' games. Games are too special for me to enjoy that. "It's just a game" for me is a phrase that misses the point of why some people play games. It's just music, it's just a painting, it's just a book are less likely phrases. But games have elements of those art forms in it, and combines them with interaction providing a short shallow escape from mundane reality. Games are, or rather can be, an experience. On the other hand, games also can be a way to let of steam. Just getting your rocks off for a few minutes. And when the two different expectations meet, you get this disconnect.

Anyway, as I said. I suspect Stigbob likes PvP.

Exactly what Stigbob just said. He likes it.

Be that as it may, I still don't see what the relevance is between Mobius invasions and upholding the rules in the PvP Hub; everyone agrees that if you break the rules in any pg you're asking to get tossed out on your rear end. I'm guessing that even the players who initiated the latest shenanigans in Mobius would say that they harbored no ill will for being booted from the group.

Gee wiz. You think?

For me, going into a Private Group you know is PvE only just to break those rules is giving no respect to those who rather wish you wouldn't. Same goes for rules in the PvP hub. Breaking them knowingly is disrespectful to those in the PvP group.

Simple respect between players. Frontier rules have nothing to do with it. If you knowingly disrespect another CMDR, or CMDRs, don't be surprised you've lost respect as a result.

Sounds like we agree, Ziggy. You go into a PG and disobey their rules, you get kicked. Funny then that we seem to be arguing against the PvP Hub administrators own right to enforce their own rule set. Seems to me they've been pretty civilized and generally respectful about it.

There have been, yes. If you request one, it may take a little longer to fill up, but people are willing.

Is scramble spectrum allowed at the hub?

EDIT: I ask because I once peeked in discord and there were many commanders whom i've seen using it

Ahh ok. It cancels shield regeneration which is especially annoying to those who use bi-weave for fun [smile]

Just being shot with anything inhibits shield regen. Scramble spectrum can cause random module malfunctions when it strikes the hull. Scramble spectrum doesn't do anything special when hitting shields as far as I know.

EDIT: Yes random malfunctions including power plant malfunction, and if you're in the middle of getting your shields back this malfunction will reset it even if PP is at full health.

It started well, but it's swiftly becoming an advert for avoiding open due to the players who call themselves PVP'ers.

Yes... But this thread is like Christmas come early!

PvPers pizzing all over each other...

PG rules be respected and followed! ([sic]Well, unless you invade 'that' PG, their rules suck, and it's fun to mine salt.)

And this! "but premium ammo means grind to win"... Seriously?! All we ever hear concerning PvPers killing PvEers is, well, git gud and engineer the hell out of your ship. How is a wee bit of mat collecting to synth premium ammo in any way different from the massive 'grind to win' that is the essence of engineering?

And the cherry on top, for me personally... I've been interdicted at CGs a few times, high waked, toyed with would be gankers, etc. The only deaths have been completely self-inflicted - playing on my 4" phone via Sony's remote connectivity with a controller linked via blue tooth - who needs FA off with that lag, and pips, what pips at that scale. I digress. I've been very slowly kitting and engineering a PvE multi-role Python that I thought might be able to hit back at mediocre PvP CG gankers... It's got G5 Prismatics, G5 HD boosters, G5 rapid fire seekers with thermal cascades, G5 beams with thermal effects, and a big G5 gimballed MC with inendiary... pretty much everything the 'real PvPers' seem to hate on! And I always synth premium ammo!

Yay.

LOL you're wasting your time with a python. Those are coffins in PvP.

Well, if you actually read the post, it's a PvE multi-role... I'm not looking for PvP in it, but I think it will do just fine if I need it to. For now. I'm an old school home build PC gamer, but unfortunately I'm playing ED on PS4. From the CG PvP builds I've scanned and the combat skills I've seen at BH CGs (in what look like PvP builds), I very much suspect the average PvP crowd on PS4 is of a much lower standard than on PC. I've got time to spare. And by then I'll have something bigger, stronger, faster, more agile...

Think again.

*edit*

Also... why? Why do you have to come into this thread all salty and blustering, when the topic is about the good time OP had in organized PvP (even if it ultimately wasn't for him)? There's some other cat who is spamming anti-griefer PvP threads that I'm sure would be a much better fit for your ire.

He is right about the Python though. There are plenty of players in ED that PvP on a hobby level. Players that mostly bounty hunt NPCs, but will interdict players for fun. Neither their skill nor their builds are anything special.
I would guess that these guys outnumber fulltimers 10 to 1 outside hot spots.

I concur, and I certainly don't want to discourage him from going out and finding himself some PvP. But when he comes across a full-timer, he's going to get a bit of a rude awakening. I know I did (and still do).

That's cool though, because that's how you learn.
