Flagging griefers

I dont play pvp, I dont want to. Thats the point. There is a gang of little bully thugs who destroy ANYONE with in the cg in open, the bully, they use obscene language, they harass, they publicly shame with the youtube site, they camp out in the station, salter, whatever. I blocked them so oh joy, I dont get to hear the taunts. 100 mil in rebuys? not counting cg bounties not getting turned in? oh, and my time and temper. As for the ones saying "it is what you paid for" no. I read the coc prior to buying the game. These guys are bullies. Period. They torment and kill weaker players as a gang. Great that fdev is letting gangs run loose in the game. Think it isn't? KOS, I', sure you are familiar, and no, I play in solo when I'm doing something risky, leaving my ship unattended etc, is not a community goal something to be done as a community? Open? Flame away folks, the whole combat logging thing? I don't care about it. I don't play PVP period.

I'm sure that everyone who read most of the thread (or most threads on the entire sub forum) noticed that the community doesn't want to see FD implement a magical block to certain gameplay features, such as PvP combat, and instead would rather like to see game mechanics getting overhauled that are supposed to prevent such issues, this being the crime & punishment and bounty system.
Not that this is the thread to go on in great lenghts about it (again) but crime & punishment needs a proper design overhaul and what FD outlined in the Beyond feedback threads is not sufficient at all and already shows the same design flaws the current implementation has. As such I have little hopes for crime & punishment to ever be functional and provide a layer of protection to the innocent while incentivizing choices around taking various risks in hopes to make a profit as criminal.
The issue is not that it couldn't be done, the issue is that FD has no intent (or talent) to ever get PvP and crime & punishment to work.

I agree with Algo - FDEV by design selected p2p, FDEV by design created game mechanics like cascade torps, containment missiles, 3k +dps modded ships, etc. FDEV by design did not create pvp/pve servers or pvp zones. FDEV created the mechanics of ramming, pad camping and law enforcement within stations. If you're frustrated with "griefing" don't blame the players using the mechanics of the game - blame the devs. FDEV mines salt from the forums remember - they've even said as much in update notes. Don't vent on players playing the game. FDEV is the [] hollow square here.

ObsdianAnt mentioned a proposed C&P feature Fdev are looking into for beyond. A detention center for caught griefers. Which I think is a doable solution. Force griefers to lose time with their engineered ship just as they make victims lose time making up the credits for the wasting rebuys.

OP maybe next time you could tip off the anti-griefer player factions when you see the ganking shenanigans going on at a station. ED is just like any other mmo. Until they improve c&p , best to stay safe and clear. If you stepped into dangerous territory for the thrill , just accept that there's risk of getting ganked and having to rebuy.

Actually CGs is where I also change to PG. Going in in Open is neither immersive nor in any way how I want to play the game when there are other players ramming and ganking in front of the slot. More importantly, it's absolutely not with whom I want to play the game. It's a bit of a tragedy because playing together is generally a good thing, and Open play is really fun if not at a hot spot.

I also think there will always be jerks on this Earth and that means, also in computer games. I hope a bit the crime and punishment changes will cap off a few of those "people" and I also hope, that karma system that is being talked and thought about will be implemented at some point, and will help some more with that. We'll see. Other than that I can only imagine direct involvement of "gamemaster" like people who keep watch at CGs and ban people who keep harassing others.

So far there's always solo and PG mode, which I will continue to use as soon as I spot people I don't want or need in my life in any way.

Quite a few options here...

  • Change mode
  • Use Block
  • Observe the speed limit
  • Use situational awareness
  • Use a decent build that isn't paper-thin

(The last 3 seem to be too much effort for some. Hey ho.)

The ball's in your court, OP.

The station rammers/cheats/griefers/cloggers are boring and offer nothing you want in your game, they've always been a pain and FDEV unfortunately don't ban them. So they will probably always be a pain.

I used block to specifically remove players like that from my game. It is a guaranteed fix, don't leave open yourself just get choosy about who is allowed in open with you.

I chose #1,

well in fact I just play in solo, as for the others being too much effort your right I cant be with all that I dont want to play with others or have to worry about playing the game a certain way just to fit in with thier playstlye, so
in effect its no effort at all as I dont even have to think about it.

Sometimes...if not all the time, contrast is necessary to appreciate what IS.

The most financially successful game in history and probably still is, is GTA 5. They force the player who wants to play with content that goes beyond basic missions to play in the very VERY toxic "Public lobby" which is equivalent to ED's open mode.

Go play there a while and see if you can get into it. The action mechanics and graphics is in a league of its own.
And IF you can get into the game and git gud enough to enjoy DLC missions that's when it will dawn on you what FD offers players here in these other modes that many for god knows what reason scoffs at.

If I were at the FD helm, I would help you all come to this appreciation by forcing all of you to play in the open with the same GTA 5 mentality of...ANYTHING GOES ,for about 6 months and then watch those of you that incredibly spit at these other mode options take a knee and cry for these mode options to return.

This is elite, not a game for rat kids that is GTA 5. Most of us are here for relaxing and condescending play.

That is the reason that mobius group and solo mode are the kings

Don't listen to that, it is pure lie :

- cloggers = cheaters
- block does not remove players from FRONTIER's game. It is not a guaranteed fix and can be easily countered by 2 different simple tricks.
- Players have no power to allow others players in Open. Only in PG.

Blocking is also for panzys. Bad enough the game has instancing problems with people who have no one on block trying to instance with each other, why make it more convoluted?

Block does work that's why you never see me in the game.

It's the only way to remove players who cheat/clog/grief. If FDEV banned them we wouldn't have to bother, but they seem like nice people who are overly lenient. Luckily they've given us the tools to do our own bans, we just need enough people using the block function to break the game for the cheats/cloggers/griefers and they'll leave.

Considering how many ways there are around and out of unwanted player interactions, it's hard to sustain the argument griefing is really a problem in ED.
It's a perception issue mostly.
