ENOUGH!

there was a time when there used to be regular patches and fixes were jumped on pretty quick. Some said the reason for the change was due to it launching on console and the MS certification process meant that hotfixes on the fly was no longer viable.

I dunno if this is true, or just tin foil hattery, but the change in patching ethos did appear to change around the time of the xbox launch imo.

I do very much agree that fundamental aspects of the game should be fixed ASAP when bugs occur.
Whether missions are fundamental aspect, though, is debatable. To Frontier they are an afterthought, to me they are a do-hicky to make the game more gamey. For some, they may represent 80% of their gameplay and that's where problems start. So the real question is how important are missions to Frontier. Their approach tells me not that much.

Missions aren't fundamental per say but they are a significant part of the game, the Guardian Ruins used them, CGs use them, traders, hunters and passenger liners use them.

It could be, although Xbox patches are issued once a week, so if they really wanted, they could do it.
What I like to believe is that it was the constant moaning of people that every time they want to play the game, there is a new patch to install. (Yes, I like to blame the community for Frontier faults. It makes a nice change. :p)

But the real reason probably is that at some point, Frontier switched from full-on development focus to episodic one and diverted a significant part of resources towards Planet Coaster and now other projects.
The truth is - nobody knows. :D

Yes, I think, Sandro said in a livestream, they changed to larger but more rare patches for QA and efficiency reasons. I also guess it´s due to releasing patches for console games costs money.

Not exactly missions you can rush though. All arriving early does is slow you down. If you stack such missions, just do them in order of appearance and try not to take multiple in the same system. You might need to kill some time before the first one becomes active, so just take a different mission or missions to other systems.

I mean, its right there in the mission description: Target will be in system from HH:MM. Going early doesn't make them appear earlier. OR at least much earlier. By the time you have done the drop down, chat, go to other system, listen to the other guy, and return, its usually time for the mission to trigger anyway.

Knowing how to work around the poor design and/or bugs, as we both do, does not make it any better though.

That argument is regularly made. Maybe some just don't have the proper certification procedures. Or maybe market power. I've seen publishers roll out patches for their multiplatform titles pretty quickly, despite certifation.

Wow, Neco, you're on a mission! :D

Tell you what. What you call "making excuses", I call "enjoying what I've got and looking forward to more". Go and save the world, if you want, but I think all you'll accomplish is that you're never gonna be happy.

Name calling is proof of fruit that hasn't yet ripe. tisk tisk

Bland I say

You know why that is? BECAUSE PEOPLE LIKE YOU MAKE EXCUSES FOR BAD DEVELOPERS! You let them get away with it, so of course they will take advantage of that.Hold them accountable, stop buying their products until they change their ways and I guarantee you the problem gets better quite quickly.

And stop participating in their forums. It just might help with what you are trying to accomplish

Problem is, the testing should be done internally by QA and in beta by players who volunteer. Fixing should happen BEFORE the code releases to the live game. Of course there are gonna be bugs. Of course they are eventually fixing them. The problem is WHEN they are fixing them, which most of the time is months, or in some cases years, after they've been introduced into the live game and customers have been complaining about them.

Yes, but that doesn't mean anything in case of this thread. What OP is describing is a rather rare bug, that, apparently QA weren't abe to even replicate, let alone propose a fix.

And posters who pretend to be the cool-headed voice of reason while insulting the unwashed masses from their high horse. The staple of the forums. Some things never change I guess.

We are not the ones insulting others. Have you read the thread? (Or at least your own posts?)

My wife took me to a Salt Room nearby. You go in there and just chill for an hour. It's like a sauna but the floors, ceilings and walls are covered in salt. It's pretty cool. Probably doesn't do sh(t for but who cares.

Um I wonder what made me think of that ?

From my own experience and of some other friends, the more you realise about the world, the less happy you're going to be about it.

Spent three nights doing assassination missions, never a single issue. Just ignore the clock, go where it tells you when you take the mission and finish it. Easy as can be.

Skimmers - stop going to the base they tell you and go to the POI's around it. You'll find more than enough to finish your mission in a few minutes.

That raises the question, why is the mission description like that?
