I just hope when they nerf it they don't bork the ENTIRE mission system like they did why they nerfed the Sothis biowaste cash cow.
Too late.

I went out to the rim and back in an AspX, love the sound is that Merlin Engines? I love the Python for general missions and PvE, so mothballed her to favour the Conda's general purpose capabilities.
I missed that you have a Corvette the first time,. sorry. You really are doing well!
Shush, you two. It sounds like you’re actually enjoying the game. Keep it down or you’ll have the thought police back out telling you that you’re doing it wrong, and reporting it to the devs...Thanks CMDR.
Being fair though, my Corvette I think will always be my pride and joy of the big ships (my trusty AspX is in a class by itself though). It's my own personal Star Destroyer and flying it is a lot more fun imho than the Conda. We shall see how the Cutter is tonight. =)
Fly safe. o7
That would go against what they've said - give them the chance.
Er... wa... huh...? You can do all those things in a sidey. 20m is plenty easy to earn on your way up from there with loads of options of how to do it. How long do you think that should take you from scratch?
Engineering is still optional so not that big a deal, but I agree the new system is more grindy. Hey don't tell me - it's almost exactly what I predicted would come of all this and what people were asking, but actually bit milder lol. But that's best kept to it's own topics, it's got enough

Notice how hauling goods missions have taken a huge hit also? Coincidence? It doesn't take a genius to see that it wasn't just passenger missions that got the nerf bat.
Perhaps we wouldn't be in this mess if FD were as keen to put floors on earnings as they are to put ceilings on them.
Behold this trash:

And this isn't a symptom of the missions being violently and bloodily disemboweled, trash runs like this were and still are generated all over the place.
1.6M for a 21KLY trip? 7 real time hours pressing the jump button while stopping for gas almost 100 times? How about instead you go make an airborne attempt at intercourse with a gyrating piece of pastry?
This is insulting. I watched the livestream, and hearing the banging on about how much our time is valued, while crap like this is more common than the alternative, was utterly rage-inducing. Are the devs really that clueless?
Doing all those things in a Sidey is not very fun unless you specifically want to do so in a Sidey. Then that's your prerogative. But combat? the Sidey gets squished unless you really finagle things. The first ship that doesn't feel like it'll get squished in a fight is the Viper, and to fully upgrade one of those costs a couple million. To properly murder, however, you want to be in a Vulture, and fully upgrading one of those costs 20m cr.
And then there's exploration: Sideys can do it, but...yeah, you don't want to do it in a Sidey unless you're challenging yourself. The Hauler can do it, but...to properly do exploration, you need the Daimondback Ex, and that'll set you back at least 13-16 million to get fully equipped for it, especially if you want to do planetary stuff.
And trading? Fuhgeddaboutit unless you're in a Type 6 at least.
Engineering is optional but the benefits are noticeable when having it vs. not having it to the point where there is motivation to do it. The issue is when they make things too grindy, because then you have to wonder if it's really worth the trouble.

More posterity data... This time haulage missions, no passengers were harmed collecting this data.

This all sounds like fun rather than some kind of horrible 'gate' to doing those things - that's doing those things! The challenge is the fun!
Eh? Then you weren't on the ball with trading.
Of course. The new engineering will be interesting. To me it sounds like I'll end up doing more work as I was happy with a few rolls and done, but many people who'd not tried engineering at all like the sound of it. Sadly it sounds from their reasons not to try it they listened to all the salty whiners who thought anything less than a near-god-roll was awful and thought it was 100x worse than it ever was![]()
Then you're not paying attention.
Maybe I am and there's more than one way to look at the game.
And maybe, just maybe, there's more than just your way to look at the game, hmmm? No?
Like I said: The problem is that credits are too much of a gate to doing what you want to do. Combat? Exploration? Trading? Everything of that sort costs at least around 20m credits to do. And then engineering is a whole other kettle of fish, soon to be made even more of a problem with 2.5.
Maybe I am and there's more than one way to look at the game. People bring the grind to Elite. Couldn't agree with you more it's not fun, think I saw some of it once but I didn't fancy it so I went and did something else I enjoyed instead.
You talk as if there's nothing to do until the late mid-sized ships, I'd disagree - to me that was a great fun bit of the game.

So - despite the fact that I have now been able to actually experience a large part of the game thanks due in part to these passenger missions, and quince planetary runs before this - what in the hell is wrong with giving a steady income to your players. What is so horrible that you, FDev, seek to destroy any and all means of consistent income that allows us to actually ENJOY your game. I tried out ships I never would have purchased, and experienced things I otherwise would have deemed a waste of time.
You're sowing the seeds of discontent here, and it doesn't make sense to me.
