What is your biggest gripe while using VR?

Unable to use the Rift due to an expired certificate embedded in the Oculus software.

Text by far..... it actually limits the amount of time I can play in VR because of eye strain. After that the Gal Map is super hard to use compared to non vr lol.

Galaxy map for sure. The problem manualy clicking on stars and typing star systems to search in galaxy map.
Hardware demands, needed to do some heavy overclocking CPU @4.8 ghz, GPU 1080 +150mhz so usually I need to open window while playing ED because of the heat generation :)

I'm upgrading my 1070Ti to a 1080Ti, and from the sounds of things it might not be enough......I just shake my head...how are the folks with mid range hardware supposed to cope, they have my sympathy. Time to optimize the bloat FD AND Oculus.

Put the PC in a small bar fridge, that ought to cool it down :)) and as a bonus quieten it.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize this was a Star Citizen forum. ;)

Seriously, though. I'm running an i7 @2.6 ghz with a GPU 780. On a DK2. Settings aren't maxed, but everything is still breathtaking. I do get the occasional judder, but turning off terrain LOD blending was a massive improvement in performance and I can hardly see a difference. While I would love to have the rig you have, it isn't necessary to run VR well.

Maybe it's the DK2 though. Lower res gives better performance?

Honestly I'm surprised how well my 1080ti handles ultra settings on the Rift....I just wish the rift was a bit better is all lol.

Yep I'm running it on a 980Ti on my Rift with the regular Ultra settings, not the VR ones. Anyway it all runs absolutely fine 99% of the time. Get the odd hitch once in a blue moon in a station or in orbit around a planet, but very rare. A 1080 coupled with a 4.8ghz cpu should have no problem. It's super sampling that's the frame rate killer. Mine is just set to the default of 1.0. I find that even 1.4 makes a big difference to the performance.

Having to send my Rift back for the second time.
1st time was for hardware failure - headset became overheated and melted solder joints on mainboard one week after receiving it new.
Second time is the Right Handside earpiece stopped working after 14 months of light use.
Now waiting for replacement - a 'reconditioned one' allegedly.
Apart from that all fine.... except would really like dioptre adjustment on lenses.

*scratches his head* I dunno, maybe because it's the best video card...

Yeah, I have an EVGA 1080 Ti FTW3 and have been pleased with how well it is doing in this game. Just really getting started with it, have been able to bump some of my graphics settings up and it is really looking nice.

the biggest gripe from me was uninstalling it and reinstalling it and then going to the forums to find out about the certificate thing! Usually, tech support says uninstall/reinstall so I thought I was being a tech genius at the time.

Not just lower resolution. but the cv1 also does 90hz, if I remember correctly the dk2 was 75hz at most.
Even if they where the same res that's about 30% less.

My biggest gripe is the lack of FULL VR support with touch controllers to handle everything ingame: touch screens, ingame vr keyboard, virtual controllers and so on.

As a newcomer to this game, I tend to agree with this.
Having to use the keyboard to navigate some of the menus whilst wearing my Rift is a bit of a pain. Like going to contact tab to get docking permission.

Enable Target and systems Panels with "look at Panel", great feature which works very well. also free's up those bindings for something more important.

Yeah thanks pretty sure I already have that enabled, as when I look at that side the panel pops in.
Navigating through the panel though is where I need to use the keyboard, unless I am missing something?
