The 40ly limit just makes no sense to me.
This is the real problem with the feature -- 40 LY is a pointless restriction and is extremely limiting.
The 40ly limit just makes no sense to me.
The 40ly limit completely undermines the usefulness of the feature. It is impractical and makes no logical sense. Why would your ships computer only remember this info 40ly from the system but I can bookmark any other body in the known galaxy?
I really think that once a player discovers something then it should be as easy as possible to view that data (filtering material content % of planets I’ve discovered is another area worthy of attention).
After over 1000 hours in the game, it makes sense to me that what I discover is recorded and then made readily accessable through in game tools so it can be used to develop my ships / progress careers etc.
Having to re-jump around and hope of coming within 40ly of, for example, a human tech broker, is not good gameplay. It is the direct opposite - a big turn off. Minimising needless jumping should be a key objective of all future updates.
The services filter 40ly issue can of course be overcome quite easily - I just check contacts in every new station and add a bookmark!
But the services filter was designed to do this automatically. So the jump limit makes it redundant as if you’re more than 40ly from where you need to be, you’re reduced to randomly jumping around to re-find things you’ve already jumped around trying to find in the first place!
I really do feel there should be no ly limit at all applied to the services filter.
