ENGINEERS ARE RIDICULOUS

You'll rarely get anything better than grade 2 materials for the local one-way passenger missions.
The higher grades seem restricted to tourist trips.

This is false.
Take on allied status first class bulk passenger missions to systems at which the destination is 60k or more ls away from the main sequence star.
You will get payed 9 million credits and 4 to 5 G5 materials - or 10 to 12 mil credits - for around 30 1st class passengers, like tourists or businessmen.

OMG!! 60k ls?!

That would take like an eternity to get there. Ain''t nobody got time for that!

/sarcasm off.

The "I want it now" entitlement crowd can't be bothered with a 5 minute supercruise to get anywhere. It surely sucks to be them. It would cut down their Cr/P/H average and be a complete waste of time.

Not ridiculous, just a little more grind than it was prior to v3.

engineering a ships is a choice, for those who make the effort, they benefit.

i personally have spend many hours upgrading my ships. this shouldn't be easy, and i totally have respect for any cmdr who has made the effort.

let's not make game easy and hand out upgrades to all ships at the drop of a hat

Given the number of caveats required to fulfill your conditions, I'll stick with rarely.

I'm in the tourist trade too . max out the fsd on an aspx. I got allied with the 5 factions in sol and they give me plenty of sight seeing work. Lots of g5 mats and creds.

For any of those who recommend soloing wing assassinations, just accepted one and found later that my target is a conda in a wing of 6 people....🙃

Dav’s hope, hovered aspx in air within 50 meters of data points, scanned, switched game modes, scanned, switched over and over. Way I managed at first. Was actually faster however to run distribution center wake scans for me and trade since wake scanning drops g5’s quite a bit more than data points even drop anything over g2/3’s. Keeping combat rating low until I finish 2nd elite, so haven’t bothered with kill missions.

Did a 180T commodity delivery for 5 EFC and another for 5 Biotech conductors recently. Certain stations are better for that kind of thing and it makes being an itinerant freelancer very worthwhile when you find those places.

HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET MODIFIED EMBEDDED FIRMWARE THERES NO DAMN WAY THE ONLY WAY 2 GET EM IS THROUGH MULTI CREW MISSIONS AND I DON'T HAVE ANY FRIENDS WHO PLAY THIS GAME PLEASE HELP!

imo that cant be said too many times. Mind you no one will listen as long as there are still people playing the game and spending money in the store, but you are right, they are ridiculous. The idea is to keep us grinding away because someone did the math and if a player spends x hours playing they will spend y dollars in the store.
What i think the bean counters failed to take into account, is that its a great game without the engineers and only a mediocre game with them and people spend less time in a mediocre game and are less likely to be future FD customers.

After experiencing the grind in ED its the last Frontier product i will buy.

Man, you missed out you should have seen the engineer grind before 3.0 now engineering is a breeze. I just hunt for grade 4 and 5 mats/data and use the trader to get what you need.

Where did you find these missions? I can't find a single one that is not wing

There are bases you can visit in your SRV that have a little scanning mini-game built into them (basically scanning data points in sequence within a time limit). Some of them have security that'll go nuts if you approach, but some don't.

Find the ones that don't, and play the scanning game. Then log out, log back in, repeat. Best way to get MEF by far, although they are one of the rarer drops from the mini-game, you will get them, and you'll get other useful data materials too.

Just to add to that, those bases usually also have a downed satellite POI nearby (the little swatted fly ones, not the big round ones), you can scan those too.
