Modes These arguments are tedious.

My suggestion is to find a way to separate the BGS of each mode. Those in solo have the opportunity to play the game they see fit in their BGS, P/G impact their shared BGS, and open BGS is impacted by anyone playing in open.

Then it stands to reason that each platform and their modes should have their own BGS as well. And would you be able to fly your commander in any mode/BGS or would you have three different commanders per platform/BGS?

I would argue that you have a cmdr for each mode, but I still disagree with each platform has a different BGS. There is no reason to have a BGS for each platform. Open ahold reflect what we have all put into it as a collective and forces one to make those connections across platform.

So the new argument boils down to the old argument. Because YOU chose, notice that little word there... chose, to be open only then others who chose to play in other modes are being unfair to you because you made a choice and feel your choice is better than their choice. And that if anyone should affect the BGS then it should be those who play in YOUR mode. Do I have this right?

At this point I’m inclined to believe you might be one of the larger fools I’ve talked to on these forums. Why don’t I recruit members to multiple modes? Simple, our group belief is open only. Also, this isn’t about recruiting or even size of groups. That becomes a numbers game about who can again move more numbers, tedious and grindy are both words that spring to mind.

As for your question posed in the first comment, I will retort in kind what makes your personal gamer ethics take priority over my own? The simple answer to that is they are my beliefs and I as you will always hold our beliefs more dear than those of another.

Let’s examine the names of the mode themselves. Open: open to all. Solo: you are playing a game by yourself so it’s not to unreasonable to think you would impact only your own universe. Private group: you would impact the universe of only those in your group. Not to hard to understand.

As for superiority of one mode over another, open and P/G do have superiority over solo in that they offer multi crew and wing functionality. At this point as already pointed out with multiple platforms, certain functions only available in different modes the modes being equal is a fallacy.

My suggestion is to find a way to separate the BGS of each mode. Those in solo have the opportunity to play the game they see fit in their BGS, P/G impact their shared BGS, and open BGS is impacted by anyone playing in open.

Great, you're reduced to insults already.

Why should any other players loose content because of your, and your groups preferences. My personal gamer ethics, and the design of the game, allows for each of us to make our own choices, and requires each of us to live with the consequences of those choices. Your choice to limit yourselves to a single mode shouldn't be allowed to influence my available choices. Players being completely equal balances the scales, and is more important than a dubious parity between the modes.

The idea for separate BGS's is generally rejected for feasibility reasons. The entire game is based on the one BGS state. Having multiple states of the game would overly complicate things, and be costly. It is also pointed out that the modes are not separate servers, but rather matchmaking filters. Finally, if cross platform play, where there is no chance for interaction, is acceptable why is cross mode play so deplorable?

No mouse. Its balance. Remember those videos I showed you. And you said you watched? Especially the ones about choice and funneling content correctly. This is what hes talking about.

You can still be a pve bucket filler in open. Why is that so hard for people to grasp? You don’t have to fill buckets in solo/pg. However, being a bucket filler in open makes it fair play for a group you are opposing to try to hinder you. Then it’s on your group to defend you.

I think people understand that they can be a bucket filler in Open. It’s not hard to grasp. But I would choose to fill buckets in solo/pg because the ability to choose that was in the game when I paid for it and was the major reason I bought this game. How is taking that choice from me fair?

I bought Destiny because it offered dedicated PvP and PvE, allowing me the choice of playstyle. I play both. I didn’t buy overwatch because it’s PvP only. Solo/pg was a literal driving force in my purchase years ago.

How can it be so hard to understand that cross platform is not the same as cross mode? For all your bluster you always get so little out of it. It always is just you really postulating a question. By suggesting that it’s our decision to play in one mode only, does that then mean you play in all 3 modes equally? Or do you in reality spend all or majority of your time in one mode?

I’m not suggesting taking any content away from anyone here. I simply suggested if you desire to play alone then truly play alone. How can you expect others to be ok with you playing by yourself but impacting our shared universe? Do you not see how that is unfair as well? You clamor for fair play and yet you discredit me because I see your decision to play solo as unfair while impacting BGS and PowerPlay. And once again I pose the question if I have limited myself to one mode have you not as well since you do not want to do these things in open? Do you not see how your argument is then used against in you the same way and we continue to go no where with this?

Because if you are in OPEN regardless of the platform you can be shot dead by someone other than semi NPCs.

But that’s not why I bought the game and the game has always had a shared BGS. I wanted to be a part of that on my terms so that’s why I dropped money (and still do) on the game. It’s a drastic enough change to a game I already own that I may stop playing. How is it fair for players that knew the BGS was affected by all modes before they bought the game to come in and demand that change? We all knew the rules before we purchased. The difference is I bought the game for what it was and not what I wanted it to be.

It’s fair because when you bought the game it was nothing but promises essentially, technically the game isn’t a finished product even. We are in year what 5? of a 10 year plan? Soto assume the game will be the same one you signed up for is a bit ridiculous isn’t it? There will and should be changes made during the development of a game before a finished product is reached.

What I’m suggesting is that there is nothing stopping you from making those connections across modes to reach players like me. Because if the changes you want don’t come this year, recruiting across modes as well as platforms may be viable alternative.

I have played extensively in both open and PG, I just have no reason, personally, to play in Solo. Recently I reside almost exclusively in a PG. The difference is, I'm not insisting my choice should have an impact on your choices. I happily accept your preference to play in open.

You may have to describe the functional difference you see between cross-platform, and cross-mode play. On the surface I can see no real difference. A player on PC can never interact directly with a player on PS4. In the exact same manner a player in open can never interact with a player in Solo. It appears simply to be a prejudice you have, and wish to force on the rest of the players.

Sad part if they did it right from the beginning. We wouldnt be in this mess right now.(probably further ahead in development instead of roadblocks tryna make everything work for everyone. You cant make everyone happy.)

The people got what they wanted. But there was a clear direction they went with the game anyways. And in order to balance it. They have to probably change everything in order to make it work.

But this is easily done with Expansions and stuff. Every game evolves. Every game changes.

The game could last longer than 10 years. The can continue to update the graphics, add space legs, FPS, Aliens and story of all sorts. Changing metas and #'s behind modules consistently re-balancing the game to keep it fresh.

It could be very enjoyable to the new player, and kept fresh for the older player.

They have a chance to do this with Beyond. I hope they dont pass this chance up.

Agreed. But as C&P has proven the general populace usually doesn’t fully comprehend what they ask for.

It’s not unfair to me at all because the game has been marketed that way from the beginning. The game has always been marketed as contributing to the BGS from any mode. It’s sold that way today. Very specifically.

I think it’s unfair to anyone who bought Elite to play in solo. Limiting the solo from the shared universe for me is unfair because that’s why I bought the game.

The game is sold today and advertised that you affect the shared universe from all modes. Anyone who buys the game today shouldn’t expect a shared universe across all modes for a year? Two? 2 months?

2 things stop me. 1 your decision to play in solo. Everyone in our group believes when doing BGS/group activities it takes place in open. 2 I’m not concerned about my group but more so from pp and that is heavily impacted by BGS. meant for rhino

As for morghan I would think the diffference is blatant. As I said before if cross platform I can ask other groups in which I have an alliance or other powers to assist in opposing those attacking us in OPEN. If those attacks are in solo or pg there is 0 defense against that except for moving items. Then again 5c already outnumbers most groups, especially those that are bots. This does not lend itself to a prejudice. You call those killing others indiscriminately as gankers/griefers But I defer to those that make BGS or pp attacks in solo or pg as the same. In my style of play they grief me so I fail to see how I cannot have the same level of disdain for them as some in this forum appear to have for those that engage in PvP?

So you bought the game to play with others but not because you want to play alone? How is that not backward logic?

GO play WoW on a Vanilla server. Then go play WoW : Legion. The whole game changed friend.

Dont be surprised if it happens to this one sooner or later as well. Its inevitable.

I bought the game to be a part of a universe that is affected by all players. And I can choose what level of interaction I have with those players. It’s how the game was designed. It’s how the game is sold. That’s why I bought it and continue to spend money on it.
